When each of my 3 babies was born, the nurses would come in and turn him on his back. I would get straight out of bed and turn him on his stomach. My 3 sons are healthy. No research has indicated sleeping position is a factor, it is ONLY OPINION. Research does not back you up.
I slept my babies on a firm innerspring mattress with a sheep skin beneath a firmly fitted bottom sheet. Good ventilation. Dust free. Breastfed 12+ months.
The causes are either bedding and/or environment, or physiology.
