I crate trained my black lab puppy. When she was growing up, she would volunterily go into the crate at night and would han out in it for a good amount of time (with the door open). Eventually she outgrew it, at which point she was well trained and didn't need it.
Ok, me being a 4-H dog trainer, it's fine to do this because of teething on furniture, you people that think its imprisonment should not own dogs as this is apart of the training. I know as I am the beginning trainer. With 3 years showing my dog, this is fine. Btw, cute pup. I love the goldens.
people complaining about a "cage" When I got my puppy they told me to buy a cage for him to sleep... They call this a crate, no? I used a baby gate like this adorable golden. My bernese is 7 month old, huge and he still hiccups sometimes. SO cute!
wow, people are stupid. you can clearly see it's a baby gate. the puppy had hiccups. it's cute. are you being abused when YOU have hiccups? NO! so stfu.
we have these baby gates too, (my dog is 4 months old) 'cause at night when we're not looking at him he could hurt himself or something... Its so careful of you that you have these gates its not horrible at all!!!!!
awww. when my dog, max, was a puppy he would get the hiccups all the time. now he gets them once in a while, but his sister, ruby, has never had them. weird.
Those who think it's cruel that the puppy is in a "Cage" are idiots, It's just in it's sleeping area. Teaching the puppy that this is your area to sleep. :l
And you could see it had a nice mattress and toys in the background Lol.
want animal abuse then see a chinese man and say you brought dog meat for him he would be like oooooo my dog delicous this is not a cage for god sake my family have one of these near the toilet and kitchen
for god sake at the end it shows its not a cage a cage is nothing ive got a sleeping cage for my dog its tiny its my doggies little area she loves it down there i put some skwigle toys down there
these idiots are wanna be PETA fuckers. really people the dog is in a gated area not a cage. and a cage that big isnt animal abuse. wanna see animal abuse walk into a kill shelter. all the dogs are in cages.
@MsFoopie When their is abuse, there is ignorance. Have you heard of the video that was posted on the internet....what is it called.....three guys and a hammer. it is about them kidnapping someone and brutally hurting him. I haven't watched it but i heard it is graphic and visually horrific from a lot of sources. So i really don't reccomend it to anybody.
its a gate to block her into a certain area lol. obviously a lot of people havent ever had a new puppy. and yes those are hiccups. the do little jumps when they have them. my dog gets them occasionally.
This looks JUST like what my dog did when she was a puppy. She's still only 6 months old but aw she's grown so much. She used to get the hiccups all the time too, so cute :)
i wake up just now and my dog is having hiccups and keeps licking her nose and acts as though she has to vomit, why is she doing this? i must know soon :'(
@Dogfurever thanks she's feeling better i did rub her belly gave her water etc. and she's cool now must just have been a build-up of gases or something, but again thanks for the reply.
Therapy dogs are my all-time favorite!! Many go down to the WTC on 911 each year and make people feel better. You can feel the tension start to leave your body when you pet them - they are so loving and gentle. Thanks for training this beautiful dog - I'm sure you make a lot of people happy!!
so adorable! i understand why you have the crate, all dog owners should have one because if the dog gets in trouble, you send them to their crate as punishment. thats why i have a crate for my two pitbulls because one of them doesn't listen very well and then likes to nap in there when my cousins are over, so crates are a good thing, because 1. time-out 2. sleeping area or nap area 3. she just hangs out in it very cute puppy! i wish i had a golden, but pitbulls are hard enough! :)
@Wrex28 if u didnt read my last comment it had said that my pitbulls like to go in it to sleep, it is also for punishment. my oldest dog naps in there and she goes in and out by herself all the time. she hasn't been in her crate for punishment since she chewed up our couch pillows which was three years ago. read the rest of comment before you comment.
It's stupid how peopl need to note everything because people think it's animal cruelty. It's called crate training and it's part of how a dog learns to be by themselves.
@ndsijulius you cant read the comments on the video itself can you?? and then you cant HEAR the GOOD GIRL he was saying?? HELLOOO??? TURN UP YOUR BELTONES!!!!
adorable puppy and yes, animals make a HUGE difference in the quality of life for the elderly and infirmed at both hospitals and nursing homes... They are a source of endless love and a day brightener... My wife is a CNA and can attest to my statements first hand.
@ndsijulius He/she isnt imprisoned its an area where the dog stays after play time when its tired and/or nap time, to be feed or to be keep when the owners arent home
my dog likes her cage. it probably makes her feel safe cause whenever there is a storm she hides in it. if an owner puts a dog in a cage for punishment, the dog's not gonna want to be in it afterwards because it makes him/her feel shameful.
Aw =) what to do when dogs have hiccups? Do you give them water to drink like we humans do in order get rid of them? ^^ (actually water only works occasionally for me lol)
@daretodream86 I think in most cases, hiccups go away on their own, even with dogs. As far as I know, the only way to alleviate hiccups is to breathe evenly and not too deeply, so as to relax the diaphragm (this works almost immediately every time for me), but getting the breathing down is tricky. And I don't know if it can be taught to a doggy. XD
Just when the annotations were talking about how it's not a cage, and that it's to keep her from getting hurt, an ad comes up for electric dog fences.

Just watch for heaves, when their body compulses and makes a steady rumbling rythem, that's a sign that you're about to get a lovely pile of her lunch to clean up! ;)
Cute video!! That pup is beautiful!! Golden retrievers are such awesome dogs!!! And I would know bc I have one! Labrador retrievers are awesome dogs too- I have three!!!
Nothing wrong with crating off your dog! It's important for all sorts of training and teaching boundaries..... unless you have your dog sleep in your bed most people would understand this.... Relax guys....
Why do SO many people who comment on these adorable dog videos assume that the owner is a sick sadistic freak? It's ridiculous lol. You have one awesome doggy there, :).
I have a crate for my puppy too, and my older Labrador was also crate trained as a puppy, they have a tall safety baby gate to separate them from the kitchen area. (They have the full run of the house, except the kitchen, and when we go out, my pup goes in his crate. Don't worry, he has water in there..) Dogs need boundaries as they can get themselves into messes when allowed into forbidden rooms. Crate training is the way forward. Although, any other way is surely fine too.. each to their own!x
I would LOVE to see someone raise a puppy (especially a labrador) without a crate... oh lord I would LOVE to see your house and your patience and mental stability after trying that... if you have never raised a puppy.... what business do you have on commenting on anything that pertains to it? If you have never fired a gun... do you start correcting a marine on how to fire his weapon?? Nuff said
@FacePwn64: Yes, technically there is a "cage" in the background, but it is more commonly known as a "crate." It's a common tool for training and safety. It's open at all times and she goes in whenever she wants to. She often sleeps in there. We fed her in there as a puppy to make her feel like it was a happy and safe place. If someone visits who is scared of dogs, we can put her in there and she just lays down. It's not a bad "cage."
@ibnkr I don't know why some are against crate/kennel. It's actually a good training tool & you don't want your dog walking around at night. It's quite creepy to hear those hoof when ur asleep & dangerous for the dog to roam your house in the dark. when ur very busy like cooking, chores, taking care of kids, it provides a time off to make sure the dogs don't get in the way, hurt themselves and above all frustrate the owner when they have so much on their plate and the dog is being rambunctious
@AkaiTsukiSama they have to be penned up with they're unsupervised in case they do anything that may harm themselves. I remember my golden puppy pulled the table cloth off and stuff fell. If we weren't there he would have made the vase on the table topple and it probably would've hurt him. penning them up isnt cruel as long as its not too small of an area and it's not 24/7.
@googoo120: The comments are very clear in the video that it's not a cage. So many people have been so ignorant about this topic. I understand why the owner of the video is short with those that don't bother to read the video text or comments that explain it quite clearly.
@CecilTheSeaMonster: It's called a dog crate, not a cage. It's like a dog house that protects her when traveling in a car, etc. The door is open at all times. Don't judge a book by it's cover. If you dont know about dogs and training, then you shouldn't be posting here. You have been blocked.
@ibnkr just relax, they are just trolls and they don't know what they are saying. Just ignore them. A dog person can really understand that you love your dog and you are using very good training methods especially for potty training.
@ibnkr : I understand the concept behind the cage. My dog, a 9 year old sheltie, has the run of the home during our working hours. When I come home, she is usually in her crate. It is a safe place for dogs to go, thier own little home. She doesnt have to stay there, she chooses to. Im in complete agreement.
like my dog we did that too. she had a hallway then a baby gate at the end so she wouldnt scratch our couch up. but at least she had a doggie door so she could run around outside.
Nice vid I remember when my huge GR was that big he's like a tank now btw does anyone elses bark savagely and heavily all the time at people cars cats and walks into the fly screen door I think he's partly blind
I use to crate my dogs when they were puppies too. It helped with housebreaking them. When used responsibly and not as a dog sitter, the crate can be a good tool for training. I'm sure this puppy is very much loved and taken care of with tons of attention. Soooo cute!
There are some 'animal lovers' out there who are seriously mental when they see such a 'cage' or they see people playing with animals in an obviously faux mean manner. I really don't understand why there are some people who are so uptight. These animals aren't made of paper, they won't die if you play with them a little. god. crazy people.
She cheered up a patient falling into depression after having a stroke (common in stroke victims). Husband said that she started to get better right after our 30 minute visit. He was there and said it made a huge difference. Mila provided love, hope and support and helped her cope mentally. The husband called Mila's breeder and thanked him and said, "As far as I'm concerned, Mila saved my wife's life."
she's tiny for 6 years old, is that human years or dog years?

Nothing wrong with crating off your dog! It's important for all sorts of training and teaching boundaries..... unless you have your dog sleep in your bed most people would understand this.... Relax guys....

@ProgressionFilms You need to know hat kind, Terriers are very destructive if not in a save and secure area. Like a puppy crate.

Even if that baby gate is a cage, there's nothing to blame because that's a spacious and enormous cage

Nuff said
TrueIrishJuggalo 10 months ago
@FacePwn64: Yes, technically there is a "cage" in the background, but it is more commonly known as a "crate." It's a common tool for training and safety. It's open at all times and she goes in whenever she wants to. She often sleeps in there. We fed her in there as a puppy to make her feel like it was a happy and safe place. If someone visits who is scared of dogs, we can put her in there and she just lays down. It's not a bad "cage."
ibnkr 11 months ago 141
@ibnkr I don't know why some are against crate/kennel. It's actually a good training tool & you don't want your dog walking around at night. It's quite creepy to hear those hoof when ur asleep & dangerous for the dog to roam your house in the dark. when ur very busy like cooking, chores, taking care of kids, it provides a time off to make sure the dogs don't get in the way, hurt themselves and above all frustrate the owner when they have so much on their plate and the dog is being rambunctious

purplepunk1000 11 months ago
@AkaiTsukiSama they have to be penned up with they're unsupervised in case they do anything that may harm themselves. I remember my golden puppy pulled the table cloth off and stuff fell. If we weren't there he would have made the vase on the table topple and it probably would've hurt him. penning them up isnt cruel as long as its not too small of an area and it's not 24/7.
behlipopable 11 months ago
@googoo120: The comments are very clear in the video that it's not a cage. So many people have been so ignorant about this topic. I understand why the owner of the video is short with those that don't bother to read the video text or comments that explain it quite clearly.
U2GuitarTutorials 11 months ago
@CecilTheSeaMonster: It's called a dog crate, not a cage. It's like a dog house that protects her when traveling in a car, etc. The door is open at all times. Don't judge a book by it's cover. If you dont know about dogs and training, then you shouldn't be posting here. You have been blocked.
ibnkr 11 months ago 15
@ibnkr just relax, they are just trolls and they don't know what they are saying. Just ignore them. A dog person can really understand that you love your dog and you are using very good training methods especially for potty training.
eeskin 11 months ago
@ibnkr : I understand the concept behind the cage. My dog, a 9 year old sheltie, has the run of the home during our working hours. When I come home, she is usually in her crate. It is a safe place for dogs to go, thier own little home. She doesnt have to stay there, she chooses to. Im in complete agreement.
rbonz66 11 months ago
like my dog we did that too. she had a hallway then a baby gate at the end so she wouldnt scratch our couch up. but at least she had a doggie door so she could run around outside.

How has she saved lives ?
TheKt32 1 year ago
@TheKt32:
