It's not that God didn't let her go to a baseball game or that it's "wrong". When you enter a convent or monastery it's a way of "leaving the world" behind in order to center yourself around God like she said. Of course today it's different since some religious orders are totally cloistered and others tend to go out into the world doing apostolic ministry (social work, teaching schools, etc.) and are allowed more of the mingling.

What this missed is what changed: Her religious order, not the rules of the whole Catholic Church. Her order obviously was a very strict one when she joined and has since liberalized.

Lighten up! She's over 70 yrs. old, survived cancer and got free tickets to baseball games. Even if her order paid for the tickets, she deserves it. Since the game passes were a gift, that makes it even more appropriate for her to be there and watch her favorite team.

I LOVE THIS VIDEO. The nun is so cute. Also, it shows something most of us in hospitals know, but others need to learn. Yes, there are horrible priests (and nuns), but like all clergy, they are models of morality to the rest of us.

If you knew all about monasteries, you would appreciate the fact that monks and nuns generally live longer than the rest of the public because of the discipline of their lives and the serenity that the monasteries and convents provide. Who's the "unexisting man"?

@xxeternalbeautyxx People who have a grasp of the meaning of existence and what it means to be a human being understand that life's value doesn't depend on material possessions, satiation in sensual pleasures or the opinions of others, but in having a purpose in life and finding fulfillment in serving that purpose. The nun seems to have that.

Chris - Religious usually pick names that mean something special to them, a patron saint, someone they want to imitate. A lot of Spanish, religious or not, take the names Jose Maria as second names whether or not they are male or female.
Opo - if you are talking about God, His existence can be proved by the light of natural reason alone, so it is nonsensical not to believe in God.

It's not that God didn't let her go to a baseball game or that it's "wrong". When you enter a convent or monastery it's a way of "leaving the world" behind in order to center yourself around God like she said. Of course today it's different since some religious orders are totally cloistered and others tend to go out into the world doing apostolic ministry (social work, teaching schools, etc.) and are allowed more of the mingling.
