@MN12BIRD It originally came in one of those tall paper boxes that were first around, before the ones that had that blue and grey stripes. Looks like whoever you bought it from cut the box up and put what was left over a jewel case.
I was disappointed in this game, I played the one for SNES and I couldn't wait to see what the Sega CD version was like. As a hardcore Sega fan, I still say that the SNES version was a lot better
The racing parts were really cool back then, but the side scrolling parts really sucked. The graphics for the side scrolling parts were really bad. Not sure what they were thinking there. Not just the graphics, but the who animation, art direction, gameplay of the side scrolling part was terrible. The first Batman game in the Genesis was better. Such a shame.
My SegaCD doesn't work again.... stupid thing worked for like half a day, now its a picky bastard. If I play with the tray for like 15 minutes I might got it to load a game! This is emulated.
@rkoguy I was doing that in this video because this was before I had my TV tuner card. But I only like to use emulation when I have to and if I can show the real thing running on real hardware I do.
Correction, it may have been possible for the ASIC on Wolf3D, but it would need to be reprogrammed. (in the SNES and Apple's case it used an entirely different engine)
And I found out about a very cool scaling "3D" rail shooter called SoulStar. Grear CGI FMV cutscenes and music.
and I still think that Sega should get back in the games console market and compete against Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, get back to where they used to be instead of just making games!!!!
@ MN12BIRD - You look like a young George Lucas! Great videos by the way. I've been noticing you lurking on the Jaguar forum at Atari Age.. Are you becoming a Jag fan? ;D
hey dude, why dont you upgrade your account to director to remove the youtube time limits? if u got into ur channel, and edit ur settings, theres a box which says channel info, then channel type, change it to director and bingo. just dont forget to click save! id love to see ur videos be longer man
I own Sega CD Batman Returns and it comes in a big cardboard box. It also comes with a large instruction manual. The early games like Night Trap and stuff like that were in those throwaway boxes until they started using the long plastic boxes. Rise of the Dragon was one of the last ones released and that version is extremely rare, but the plastic version is much easier to find.
I love your videos, but i'm sorry. The one minute opening has to go....I just skip them every time and in reality, you just loose a minute of content.
I gotta agree. The openings might look like a nice touch for MN12BIRD, but it's just a nuisance to his viewers. I doubt anyone wants to watch the exact same snapshots of your consoles every time, save for a few wierdos. :P
hey i was wondering why your not partner yet. have you applied. you have almost as many reviews as me but you have tons more subs. you should be just right for partner program. i applied and they said i needed more subscribers. so i was just wondering
yea the model 1 is known for having issues,i used to have a model 1 sega cd and it died within 2 weeks of me getting it off a 2nd hand shop...but im glad im not the only one..model 2 sega cd is probably the best model to get cuz it lasts alot longer
the driveing in the be ginning reminds me of ps1 road rash so yhea good graphics

In January of 2010, a close friend gave me her old SEGA CD for free, the fuse blew but I replaced it with a brand new one. It works perfect.

Sega CD was pretty niche product over here, i dont remember being able to rent hardware just games.
The music in this is amazing quality, the racing levels have pretty good scaling i never knew the sega cd had hardware like that!

I just bought this game for $4.95.
I don't even own a SEGA CD yet.

What are you waiting for.... NINTENDO TO MAKE ONE?
MN12BIRD 2 years ago 8
I have been planning on buying a SEGA CD for awhile now.
I almost bought one today, but the gentleman who offered it to me said that it was untested. It also was not in very good condition.
it was a Model 2.

I agree with you.
The SNES version was still superior.

Maybe the perfect game would be the side scrolling levels from SNES intertwined with these amazing racing levels.

@MN12BIRD Another thing you could have done is put the batman returns cd on your computer and use fusion to play it.

This game is almost like what a SUPER Super NES would look like.
zedrein18 2 years ago
They sure could have come out with some great games using that hardware. Racing games like you mention. (probably a Sonic kart racing game)
Not to mention some great FPS and flying games. (particularly arcade style rail shooters)
I don't think a true port of Wolf3D could be made to use the ASIC. (I think the SNES version may not have used hardware scaling either)
A ported version should have been run through the CPU, though not at full screen resolution mode.
