  • This is my favorite version on Rita so far, and I LOVE Keb Mo's music. Never pictured him with Vince Gill, but the combo works here.

  • Good musicians, good singers what else do you need to know. Country artists compliment blues singers and blues singers can compliment country roots. People that bitch about this need sharper ears. We are lucky to have both. Vilulfo

  • Love Keb Mo, love Vince Gill.....Won of the best concerts I've seen in a long time, Bonnie Raitt and Keb Mo ........ ALL 3 are great guitar players!!!

  • Funny...last time I looked, Nashville was a CITY, not a country. So maybe this is CITY music? Enough with the labels and the silliness. MUSIC is MUSIC, and what makes it beautiful is the soul of the player, the meaning of the song, and an audience who don't give a shit about labeling it. The "country" music of today is mostly what would have been considered "rock" 20 years ago. And is Steely Dan a rock band or a jazz band? Ever heard Vince Gill play jazz? He can and he 'smokes'.

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE

look up definition of country before you comment. you are embarassing yourself. it has any meanings

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE Yeah...when Vince Gill was joined by jazz pianist/vocalist Diana Krall for the song "Faint of Heart," Gill played a great jazz solo. Brad Paisley's another country guitarist who can play jazz very well, as he's shown off on a few of his instrumental pieces such as "Les is More" and "Time Warp."

  • You're forgettiing about DeFord Bailey, black harmonica player from the early Opry years. Then there is Charlie Pride, a real country star.

  • I say, Keb Mo is one very cool dude, fantastic musician, I love him... Go for it Keb, show them how its done man.

  • Cracker you are why the term "cracker" is a derogitory term pull your head out of your butt. This is what "Country Music" is all about learn your history and open your mind.

  • @bigdaddyg1952 What history are you talking about my friend? Maybe you are thinking of a different form of music, say Rock & Roll? "Rock" came from old time Rhythm & Blues and classic Jazz. (ie Elvis and everything that followed him). Country come more from old Irish and English folk music as well as bit of old time Gospel hymns.

  • @Vaultcracker2 Originally, blues and country were the two main genres that were combined to create rock and roll...listen to Chuck Berry and artists like that and you'll know what I mean. It wasn't until the Beatles became popular that jazz was truly incorporated into rock and roll (that is, by a popular band).

  • This is not country music.

  • @Vaultcracker2

It's killing you that a black guy is singing at the Opry. isn't it!

  • @scottb1966 Wow, I make a comment about music and you obsess about him being black. Your obsession with his color identifies you as a closet racist.

My comment related to how Country music is being changed by corporate elites set on greed, are trying to change or destroy our traditional music. Much like they destroyed the values and morals America once stood for.

  • @Vaultcracker2 Did anybody say that this is country music? Did Vince Gill introduce him as a country artist? Why would that be even brought up, other than the fact that he is playing at the Grand Ole Opry? Is there some rule that only Country Music can be played at the Opry?

You better sit down for this! I saw Keb Mo at the Ryman in Nashville!

    Yes, you're right, I'm a closet racist!

  • @Vaultcracker2 That's because Keb' Mo' is a blues artist. Considerning the fact that blues strongly influenced the three main genres to come after it--jazz, rock AND country (not in that order, of course)--you should be able to respect the blues.

And, yes--I do know that Celtic music also strongly influenced country music, but so did the blues.

  • @Vaultcracker2 Dunno if you've noticed, but most of the shit getting marketed as "country" these days - ain't.
