  • "The Surge" a single successful tactic among thousands of successful/failed tactics over the course of the entire war strategy in Iraq. The overall strategy in Iraq is a failure. We won the WAR (fighting) obviously, but now we are in the failure stages. In what war has a country ever attacked another country and then tried to rebuild it? So now people scream we lost the war, and its a fucking disgrace, and an embarrassing half assed notch in our belt to perfectly match our half assed strategy.

  • blckvec: "In what war has a country ever attacked another country and then tried to rebuild it?"

You mean, besides WW2, where America helped rebuild both Germany and Japan after the Allies defeated them?

  • @ksict AMEN! I give up trying to discuss anything with these left wing idiots who get their opinions from MTV and Jon Stewart. Pathetic.

  • I have an Idea lest start another senseless expensive war with any country let's not send enough troops at the beginning let'w wait til we're almost defeated and then let's increase the amount of troops. Surge did work but there wouldn't have been a need for a surge if we'd focused on OBL rather than on Vengeance against Saddam Hussein. As if the country wasn't screwed enough four years ago, the repubs had to Re-elect their idiot condidate in order to run the economy into the ground.

  • NoProblemhere: the problem is in your lack of information. Look up the Community Reinvestment Act (thanks to Dems) that started subprime lending. CRA was expanded by Clinton (a Dem). Repub reforms of Fannie & Freddie were opposed by Dems who said there was no problem. No, the Dems have their fingerprints all over this economic meltdown. Get the facts before making inaccurate accusations.

  • The surge was effective in putting more troops on the ground to reduce conflict, but the goal at this time is to drawback a bit to allow Iraq to show that it can hold its own establishment. Hmmm, so how many more surges do we need before we meet our opposite goal. I can't believe people fall for this crap when it's right in their face.

I only wish I could witness this successful surge on the News, oh i forgot the war isn't being reported hardly anymore.

  • Hah yeah eat your words Obama.

  • The surge brought down violence in a civil where we had no business being in. We invaded Iraq, when Iraq was not an imminent threat to the U.S. Win or Lose this war? You can't in an occupation. Let's get the hell out. We are the laughing stock of the world.

  • Yawn, just another manipulative edit. You have to try much harder than that, and I encourage you to do so.

  • FOX NEWS is not a News organization, but A PROPAGANDA TOOL!

Obama, stop being so polite to a guy like O'Reilly and start to address the fact that they frame all the issues and questions against you!!

Hopefully he fights back A LITTLE in part 2.

Obama has to be waaay tougher and more confrontanional than that!!

  • Asking a black man to admit he was wrong is RACISM!

    It's a HATECRIME!

No One Expected The Surge To Work!

    Not even it's DESIGNERS!

    God, what a TOOL!

  • succeeded beyond what any of the supporters expected!?

then why fucking support it in the first place if they dont expect it to work!?

obama just came come to terms with the fact he was WRONG, so he has to play it like EVERYONE else was wrong too

  • halcyon083,

Wikipedia is not a credible source to back up your argument.

Even the creators of that site say that people should not take anything that is written there as a definitive source of information.

The Anbar Awakening was encouraged by the fact that the Surge was coming to back them up and protect their families.

  • BeeeYaaaaaaaaHhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Marine Colonel Sean McFarland was the first to implement and promote the alliance in Ramadi. The capital of Anbar Province.

The "Surge" was just a larger force to implement the same strategy that Col McFarland was able to implement in Ramadi.

All the "Surge" did was bring in more troops to do the same thing in all of Anbar Province.

    w w w. usatoday. com/news/world/iraq/2007-04-30-ramadi-colonel_n. htm

Without Colonel McFarland the "Anbar Awakening" or the "Surge" don't happen.

  • Flip-Flopper. That's all he truly is with his talking tough, promise to support faith-based initiatives, promise to drill off the coast, suggestion that women cannot have an abortion because mental distress is supposedly some lie, etc, and those will be the election results for him. I say the states that will vote for him will be: Mass., Minnesota, & Oregon. Thanks for promising resolve, but your inexperience and failure to be vetted in national elections is why you faild, & y Hill was my choice

  • The surge worked, but heres a stupid analogy;

If i come to your house beat you and your family, trash the property and start a fire - I then hose down the fire with a "surge of water".

Should i be given credit for putting out the fire.

  • Let's say person A starts a fire 4 years ago, and it stayed ablaze all this time. Now along comes person B who says "Hey, we should hose it down with a surge of water." Personally, I would actually support person B's plan... but I guess you would rather support person C, who says "no the surge of water won't help"

  • But person B was complicit with person A in the initial act.

Bottom line Iraq is still chaotic, Suicide bombers still kill civilians, Baghdad is now segregated along ethnic lines.

The Surge succeeded in reducing the violence, the violence that would never have taken place until the overthrow of Saddam.

Once the US stops funding the Sunnis in Anbar the violence will return, Iraq does not have a political reconciliation, when the US withdraws one group will ethnically cleanse the other.

  • You do realize that obama specifically said that the surge would not reduce the sectarian violence, but in fact, would do the reverse. You admit that it has lowered violence, yet Obama won't admit he was wrong.

Also, it seems odd to me that you would be so accepting of ethnic cleansing. It is my view that if there is real risk of ethnic cleansing, then that makes it all the more important for us to continue our presence there, until the ethnic cleansers are utterly demoralized.

  • Sectarian violence is down mainly because the Shiites & Sunnis have ethnically cleansed their areas, people cannot venture out of their communities, segments of baghdad are cut of from their neighbours with massive concrete walls.

You say Obama wont admit to being wrong yet McCain says he would still have invaded Iraq knowing what he does today and wishes to attack Iran!!

I admit I dont know what the solution is, Iraq will erupt the moment the US pulls out, yet America is paying murderers $30

  • yet America is paying murderers $30 million a month not to kill US soldiers, can this continue indefinite?

Sadr is studying to become Ayatollah, once he gains this he will have the religious authority to take on SCIRI and every Shiite in the Southern Iraq will be at his command.

The Shiite Govt will not share power, If this continues the Sunni frustations will spill into all out war with Sunnis armed with weapons supplied by the US.

Its a bad situation created by the republicans.

  • No, the situation was bad, and existed before republicans. We've been involved with Iraq ever since we SUPPORTED saddam decades ago. Finally we are on the right side, removing that murderer, and supressing other thugs, nihilists, and ethnic cleansers who want to disrupt any chance of a civil Iraqi society. This is the right place for us to be. If you are okay with us simply leaving, then you'd be okay with anything. This is a fight for civilization. I won't have a rwanda on my conscience!!

  • You already have between 80,000 - 1 Million people dead on your conscience.

the US caused the Chaos by firing the iraqi army and not securing the borders.

The US army has inadvertantly helped in the ethnic cleansing by putting up concrete barriers between neighbours.

While your trapped in a self inflicted quagmire Darfur is an ongoing tragedy.

Fight for civilization? You have a VP choice who believes the earth is 6000 years old and wants to ban library books -thats a threat to civilization.

  • The VP could practice wicca for all I care. It doesnt change the fact that we are fighting for a secular democratic Iraq. Now that there is something worth fighting for. you dont like the firing of the iraqi army? Does this mean we should leave? No. Every critique and mistake made in the Iraq occupation, does NOT mean that leaving will solve the problem. Instead of leaving, we should fight better. Let's keep fighting for free and civilized nation. The world deserves it.

  • Secular Iraq? Iraq was secular under Saddam, now its a Shiite govt run out of Tehran.

Im saying the people who screwed up every aspect of the Iraq war should stop making policy decisions.

How is Iraq a free country? it has 140,000 US troops and almost equal number of contracters (who are above the Iraqi law).

  • Its not a free country yet. But I want to ensure it becomes one. People who can't get over that fact that we invaded years ago, are the ones who are suprising okay with the idea that we should just leave.

  • Iraq may be self inflicted problem, but our initial support of Saddam Hussein makes it all the more our responsibility to fight for Iraqi freedom now. This is not preemptive. This is our responsibility. We just need to fight better and smarter.

And i agree about Darfur. There should've been an intervention by the world community to stop the genocide. Should've happened a long time ago. Now they are all dead and the shame is on all of us.

And the VP can practice wicca for all i care.

  • America is responsible for the Iraq mess but again why trust the morons who created it with the fixing.

Why should the "world community" stop he genocide, when the Bush doctrine is al about unilaterlism, genocide continues in Darfur why is there no surge of US troops to help?

The VP can practice wicca, but when she belives children should be taught creationism as science and wishes to ban books from libraries - that is the greatest threat to civilization.

  • And yes you're right, she seems to follow the evangelical line of social stupidity. Creationism in school? No thank you.

But I have to say that this issue of stupidity being taught in schools, is NOT the greatest threat to civilization. Don't be delusional. The greatest threat to civilization is islamic jihad. Creationists are never going to win. They are ridiculed every step of the way. It is the jihadists and islamic totalitarians must be dismanteled and disgraced.

  • And on Darfur again, yes we didnt do anything, and it's too our shame. You realize its the shame of the world too though, right?

Either way, I'm consistent when I say that we SHOULD have a US presense in the world in order to stop genocide. We shoudl have been in Darfur, and we should stay in Iraq right now. You are the one contradicting yourself, not me.

  • You keep referring to Darfur in the past tense, the genocide is happening now.

The Jihadists cannot destroy civilization, all they do is kill & destroy and their method of attack is rejected even in the Islamic world.

Civilization is destroyed by the lack of intellect, when you start electing morons who change science for their own belief and then force children to learn the same you will see civilization crumble from within.

  • America's fascists will never win. When it comes to anyone pushing for creationism, they will never be taken seriously in this country. Our constitution guarantees it.

The Jihadists force their bullsh1t religion on their children too you know, but not only children, but all members of extreme islamic society, where leaving = death. Its built into their government. This totalitarianism must be fought.

And yes everyone in Darfur is dead now. its toolate.

  • Nice job on taking him out of context. Notice you didn't include the part about the surge worked to him stem violence to give the Iraqi govt. a chance to get things politically stable...and he confirmed they failed. In other words the surge half worked.

    Idiot

  • I also like the way you edit your videos IDIOT!

  • Ahhh, that is so cute... my videos have context. Yours don't.

You make me laugh sooooo much. Thanks for the smile.

  • @Dogdad2 I like how you and your beloved messiah look like complete idiots years after you post your half-assed comments. :) The surge worked.

  • Ummmm...

Why did you edit out the second part of his answer?

A pretty dishonest move on your part.

I encourage everyone to watch the whole interview so that you can get a true sense of where Obama stands. Whether you agree or disagree with Obama, I think we can all agree that it's important for all voters to work towards understanding where a candidate truly stands, as opposed to watching edited video clips that distort and mislead the voters.

  • Nice edit asshole. Such a poor attempt at hiding what he really has to say it could at least be between sentences.

  • Oh god another Ron Paul Lunatic.

  • Nobama!

    McCain 08!

  • That's pretty funny. You liberals thought it was great when Bill Clinton wouldn't let Chris Wallace get a single word in on his interview.

  • No need to let him finish what he was saying. The tactics that you people employ are so transparent. I can't wait until the debates. That's when we're going see who has all the character.

  • god damn right
