Question, I have that update installed and the auto rotate feature does NOT look like that. The transition is completely different. I like the one in this vid. How do i get it?

go to your settings screen. then go to sounds and display. go to the display and select on "animation" when moving and closing windows.

u have auto rotate just have to enable it in your settings its off by default

there is no rotate for the homescreen on a G1, neither a iphone, or a Palm Pre

witch one do you think is better google cupcake rom or htc cupcake rom?? i watched both videos by the looks of it htc rom looks better. do they both have video recorder??

Two questions:

1. Do you lose root when updating to this? (I assume not)

2. Do you lose all your programs/downloads when updating?

1. You don't lose root with this specific 1.5 ROM.

2. Yes you will lose your programs/downloads for this process. If you wait for the official update you will not lose any programs, downloads, settings or program data. There are a few programs that don't seem to function right with the cupcake update though.

Really great video! A lot of people are excited about the big features, like video recording. But I'm so glad you also showed the small changes like the UI polish, tabs in Bookmarks, all that.

I did not see an obvious zoom in the camera for the Google version, which is funny because it has zoom in the browser where the HTC did not yet.

Anyone have font issues with the htc build? I cant get it to show most text on it. It shows empty character blocks and I cant even use the settings. I prefer the htc version for the dialer (makes sense to separate the talk button to this screen exclusively). Please help!

I noticed that google build make more intensive use of rotation..or maybe it's just an impression.

In htc build is present the features of "circular zoom"?

Is the auto complete features present in both builds?

in g build camera zoom features is totally absent?

In my opinion the HTC is better aesthetically. The dailer has been improved and the keyboard is better to type on than the Google versoin. The Auto complete box was more annoying but it can be repositioned easily. Auto rotate on the Google version is more dramatic while the HTC is more suddle, but I would side on the Google transitions here after a few days of playing with it.

I am asuming the G1 should get a simular update to the Google build. While neither of these ROMs will make it officially to the G1 as they were ported (taken from another device and modified to work on another) by an individual named Haykuro and won't be released by HTC, Google or T-Mobile. We should see all the same features in an Over the Air update from T-Mobile evenutally.

sorry if this is a stupid question, but will the public receive the google update or the htc update? and which one were you more impressed with?

There are lots of visual differences between the two. There is some functionality differences like the HTC version has a PDF viewer, different camera controls, an HTC sync program for syncing with Outlook and a fun tilt game called teeter. check out droidproof for more images and a review.

You can download it now, there are two main versions with various updates coming out each week. There are some problems to be worked out but its alot of fun and a big improvement.
