happy days , this was the exact time i started buying records..the pistols track is the ronnie biggs thing which was the second single i bought after rivers of babylon haha
thinking about it, life never really got any better!!
seen them live at glasgow apollo in 78,wot a nite, aye they wur the days it was bouncin, and so wiz i, full of eldorado,no girly buckfast in those days
It's strange but most music in those days whatever style or level of talent had an underlying energy & passion. Whenever I have the misfortune to listen to stuff from now, however loud or soft, whatever category, it sounds insipid & lame.
@flaxonx3 That's because most music today is made for money and not love of making music. There are still some great bands out there, they are just harder to find! Don't look to major labels to carry them, look to independent labels.
The boring music before is exactly what they try to sold now for kids in 2011. same arrangments, same lyrics, same shit..
Sham 69 was a real nice band, and this song is a TOP 50, may be a top 10 for Lyrics.
My only shame is to have missed a gig with them, I had chosen Siouxsee, who was playing the same day, and it was also great, in Hammersmith..
But Sham gig were more rare, I had understand it after their "deah"

Like The Rattles' "The Witch" another performance from "Top of the Pops" that had amazing energy. The title just about sums up 1978.

The song from the TOTP rundown from that week is "Come Back And Finished What You Started" by Gladys Knight & The Pips.
