I dont care wtf you say. I grew up on this and if you dont like the Alien then you dont like the alien. I like the alien and so shove it! Not dead yet in the nursing home! If you dont understand this album then you would never truly appreciate Ministry. maybe the feelin of being slow and old was what he meant to say and why he said it is because no one really understood why he did all this, We all just want to get high and listen to tunes when really, Al is speakin of the government being lost.
I can say that jimmy had too high expectation for DSOTS and which caused some disappointment. jimmy, you're saying too much that the line "DSOTS could be mistaken for...." To DSOTS fans you just don't have good taste. Ministry has many different sounds in its histry. No doubt we have different favorite, don't you think?
@sevendust9 This album is fucking great!!! If you don't like it, maybe you should question your own taste. It's dark, gritty, acidic and gloriously disparaging...it's a fuckin MINISTRY, album all the way...Not one of their most beloved albums, but hugely underrated. Anyone with balls, brains or taste would realize that. Maybe its not an accessible, in your face, formulaic metal, but isn't there enough of that shit already out there? What do you think it should sound like - Sevendust??

I'm really taken back by the positive commentary about Dark Side of the Spoon. I've been a diehard fan of Ministry since 85. There was a time in my life when my idolatry of Al Jourgensen was so great that he could have defecated on the mic and I would have thought that the sound of him evacuating his bowels was an amazing new song. Speaking of shit, there's no avoiding the fact that Dark Side Of The Spoon is an enormous steaming, stinking mountain of shit. But 1 crap album out of 10 is amazing.
why? you haven't given a reason why YOU don't like it. it's you're opinion, doesn't mean it's the truth. the "truth" is subjective either way. because it's not "hard" enough?
Korndud, (you just might want to rethink that name dude) my criticism of DSOTS has absolutely nothing to do with the album's level of "hardness". The truth is that for the 1st time in his album recording career, Al's drug saturated mindset worked against him. DSOTS could easily be mistaken for a experimental audio disaster created by end stage Alzheimers patients in a nursing home. It came as no surprise to anyone that shortly after the tour for this album, Al checked into rehab.
hahah and how does that make the album shitty? i happen to enjoy the sound of this album, as i'm sure alot of other people do aswell! sounds different but it's good
I was disappointed w/DSOTS b/c it defied my expectations for greatness. I swear to you korndud (I still can't over your name man. Why would anyone's parents ever name them korndud?), I kept going back to it, thinking that maybe somehow I missed the raw, sonic brilliance that I had become accustomed to hearing on past Ministry albums. But no matter how many times I revisited it, I was just unable to get any satisfaction out of it. To top things off the Boston date of their DSOTS tour was pitiful.
This song is insane. Saxophones, banjos, and what sounds like a remote control car revving up in the background... I can't get enough of this album. Although I admit I hated it the first time I heard it. But its just one of those acquired tastes. You know? Because its So out there.
@CelesteWS1 Been rubbing my eyes Never brings me no sleep just slap me inside with the demons I keep Gotta leave me alone Gotta let em' be alone. Tired of living just to die (to die) Like a shark keeps swimming when he don't know why I've got gasoline still It's the only thing that's well...
thank you for your comment. i think people are undervaluing this album. this song is kind of a hidden diamond to me. thank God theres someone who can appreciate its value.
hey no problem. you dont have to listen to this very long to see what a gem it is. very good album..if a little wierd. have you heard step? thats a wierd good song. yeah i know. i really appriciate you making the vid.

This song is excellent. It's totally ministry but it sounds like something Trent would have made. It reminds me of NIN Reptile for some reason.

I loved your comment and I sort of understand the Reptile thing.lol Thanks!

I agree with you Korndud; I personally think this is a good album. Not their best but I think it kicks ass.

The best Ministry album is a tie for me between A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste and Land Of Rape & Honey

in case someone misunderstands, this video's length is right as the song on the album. why don't you upload the extended version? I want to hear it.

sounds like rev co in slow mo. didn't remember this one, never really paid much attention to this LP, but it's quite good.
hfyuutr 3 years ago
media said this LP was disappointing. I guess that's one of the reasons that Ministry's fans don't pay much attention to it.
I love this "slow mo" myself.

Ministry's best song IMO, It is a song that I used to play like 100 times a day but the lyrics, pretty hard to decipher, I got the chorus:
Not dead yet just movin' kinda slow
Not dead yet just doesn't let go
Not dead yet just leave me alone
Not dead yet in the Nursing Home
I've been alive 10 years in the Nursing Home
And I've got the first two verses but the 1st line of the 3rd verse I can't figure out:
Thinking on water I [???] bullet???
Anybody know it?

sorry but I don't know.

FINALLY! Someone agrees with me. Every site I visit for lyrics to this song, the chorus is completely different.
