I've seen Cannibal Holocaust, Men Behind The Sun, Salo and Philosphy. Cannibal Holocaus is great mainly in the animal cruelty free version as the uncut version made me sick when i saw it in a theater in it's 2001 release. Where's Ichi The Killer, In a Glass Cage, The Untold Story, Irreversible, Funny Games, etc.? i refuse to see Serbian Film after such hideous things i've heard about.

Men Behind the Sun was badass. I wasn't crazy about any of the August Underground films though. You can't really fuck with Can Holo. It was the best of the 70's italian cannibal genre, but i did like them all for the most part. Not as gory or disturbing, but Thriller: A cruel Picture was good also.

The one I watched had strippers lured to some guy for there Penance and amongst other things they get there bits cut off, and then he cut his own balls off! But you didn't actually see it, like in the Anti Christ it gives you a big close up. I saw August Undergrounds Moredum, which was pretty extreme.. I know thats a series of about 3 films so if its anything like that then It must be bad.
I watched Penance last night and did't find it at all disturbing, it was just a pretty run of the mill horror, There is no way it comes anywhere close to A Serbian film. So I'm wandering if i saw a cut version! Surely I must have.

Sorry but in my opinion Penance was the LEAST disturbing of the bunch, wasn't really anything new. And so far i've yet to see any film worse than A Serbian film, granted there might not be as much gore as some of the others. But on a moral level I don't think i'd find anything worse, that wasn't an actual snuff move.
Just watched that Serbian Film, the content was grotesque but the plot and acting was very good. Personally, I thought Ichi the killer was far more fucked up than SF thus making it scarier. House of a 1000 corpses is a deffo for that list. Ever seen the UK comedy series Jam by Chris Morris? That'll fuck you up too...

You have to see "Montana Sacra" and "El Topo" by Alejandro Jodorowsky and "Viva la Muerte!" by Fernando Arrabal. "Viva la Muerte!" can completely be watched on YouTube. Of "Montana Sacra" you can at least watch the first 15 minutes, although in a German version. Of "El Topo" you can unfortunately only watch trailers in here.

Good Choice on picking A Serbian Film to be in the Top 10! That was the only one with a really good production and I thought the acting in it was phenominal. Seen Mordum but havent seen Penance yet. What makes Penance number one because I thought Mordum would be in front of Srpski Film?
@SilentPhenomed yes but it's a completely different genre. BD is comedic and gore depiction is comedic too. Movies like A Serbian Film or August series are the most extreme pictrues for the sickest fucks out there. We'd come to the point where you have to shot such extreme fucked up shit to shock the audience... Some decades ago a behead scene in Omen was shocking and disturbing. Now a film with much worse scenes gets PG13 rating, see Final Destination series.
@MrMickist - 3guys1hammer does depict the actual murder of a person. But for it to qualify as a snuff film, the finished product is distrubited for profit. So the video only fills out half of it.

By CIA standards on Snuff films, a snuff film must be made for pornographic use IE someone to get off one watching death. THE ANGELS MELANCHOLY will be the sickest film you have ever seen.
I have seen both A Serbian Film and August Underground's Penance but now I'm serious dude, that Serbian film and the Underground is nothing compared to this fucked up movie.

@shizabanana Is it coz Men Behind the Sun really happened? That was a horrible film, and also very disturbing, I'm not saying that I actually enjoyed A Serbian Film, but I found it really disturbing. It stayed with me for days. But as you say its down to individual opinion.

You have to see "Montana Sacra" and "El Topo" by Alejandro Jodorowsky and "Viva la Muerte!" by Fernando Arrabal. "Viva la Muerte!" can completely be watched on YouTube. Of "Montana Sacra" you can at least watch the first 15 minutes, although in a German version. Of "El Topo" you can unfortunately only watch trailers in here.

Hey, just watched Cutting Moments on your recommendation. Could only find the censored version to download though so the tit sequence was cut short.
Salo overall is less extreme than that film is I take it?

@smokethevidence Are you sure it was censored? It's only half an hour long. Salo isn't really disturbing in the sense that there's gore, it's more mentally disturbing.

@b1wdancer23 From what I read, only a few frames were removed from the sex scene in the American version to get an R rating. Couldn't find the NC-17 version.

the castration scene is apparantly the worst........but compared to the new baby scene in a Serbian film, even tho u see nothing gory, the thought of it is the closest i have been to being sick from a film. Serbian film wins imo.

Good Choice on picking A Serbian Film to be in the Top 10! That was the only one with a really good production and I thought the acting in it was phenominal. Seen Mordum but havent seen Penance yet. What makes Penance number one because I thought Mordum would be in front of Srpski Film?

@SilentPhenomed yes but it's a completely different genre. BD is comedic and gore depiction is comedic too. Movies like A Serbian Film or August series are the most extreme pictrues for the sickest fucks out there. We'd come to the point where you have to shot such extreme fucked up shit to shock the audience... Some decades ago a behead scene in Omen was shocking and disturbing. Now a film with much worse scenes gets PG13 rating, see Final Destination series.

@MrMickist - 3guys1hammer does depict the actual murder of a person. But for it to qualify as a snuff film, the finished product is distrubited for profit. So the video only fills out half of it.

@MrMickist 1. It isn't a true snuff film, due to all the other comments also saying it wasn't made for mass audiences. 2. By CIA standards on Snuff films, a snuff film must be made for pornographic use IE someone to get off one watching death. Also you and I both know MANY more exist but just because its the only murder YOU have seen via video doesn't mean its the only one existing. I personally have seen 2 more on the internet and can only find one now due to legislation removing the other.

Well I finally watched Martyrs, and honestly guys? It's not even 'that' disturbing...
Don't get me wrong, though. I thought it was an AWESOME movie and I highly recommend it, especially the ending scene. But as far as 'disturbing' wise, it wasn't at all.

@sociopathpsych haha oh no. I watched all of these from start to finish :) Hmm. if you're looking for movies with a good plotline, I'd say my favorite was Cannibal Holocaust. It was pretty disturbing, but the story got you hooked. Also check out Ichi The Killer. I really liked that one :)

Nine inch Nails-Broken Movie, The Devil's Experiment, Flower of Flesh and Blood, Last House on Dead End Street, Martyrs, In My Skin, Combat Shock, Faces of Death, Cannibal, Last House on the Left, I Spit on Your Grave, Man Bites Dog. I've seen the movies on your list. Great choices.
