  • Hey marty...why do you put the mic in front of the amp?

  • OK I'm a newb and I have a question.

Is the G major pentatonic scale the same thing as the E minor pentatonic scale??

  • @jbaby007 Yes, G Major is the same as E minor ( natural minor ) , E is the relative minor scale of G major, the same as Am is the relative minor to C major...

  • @storysofarther Ah ok thank you. That's interesting. I wanted to make sure I'm getting these names right.

  • picking up a C.B.G.,4 string, and tuned to an open cord, like your showing in this vid, gettin some ideas, will tune in to see what i can "pick-up" - thanks

  • @marcushendriksen only because theyre both in g major other then that no not at all

  • Can anyone post a video teaching me how to play the lick that Marty plays in this video from 20 to 30 seconds in? I tried to capture the audio and slow it down but it was too noisy to be discernible.

  • thanks Marty.

  • nice again marty ;)

wish you were here by pink floyd is in the key of G by example :) and its a cool riff :)

And if I'm not wrong, the solo is in main part in the same key

    keep good job :)

  • outstanding..great teacher..great guitarist

  • i think one part on the riff of back in black uses this. actually im pretty sure it does. my teacher said it was called a G run

  • not only invaluable but ms makes it fun to play and the background with the barn is too funny

the part towards the end where you play the chords intersperced with the notes is what its about

    thanks

  • Thanks once again! you are the man! Schwartz pwns once again!!!!

  • I love this guy, 5 out of 5 everytime and he is a very good teacher. Guitar is a very difficult instrument to learn and I have progressed 10 fold following Marty's lessons.... I am loving the backgrounds..

  • Great lesson, Marty! Thanks!

  • Great vid!

  • Hey Marty, Dwight Yoakam's version of "Honkey Tonk Man' is played in this key. The intro, fills, solo, and chords. You should try covering it or doing an instructional.

  • Damn... I wish I had that hat..=o) May the Schwartz be with you.

  • Yes G major is relative to e minor. Just like C major is relative to A minor. The only difference between the major scale and its relative minor is you start the scale at a different note and it sounds different. Hope that helps.

  • Isn't this a Em pentatonic scale too?

    By the way, thanks Marty

  • yeah! . G Major . is E minor . ! if u dont understand ill explain its nnot that hard

  • Em is the relative minor to G major. so yhe same notes but different root

  • that's cool

  • damn somebody already said but we have the same hat !!

  • another great lesson from the best teacher.

  • marty your the sheez. how many years u been playin?

  • These solo lessons are FANTASTIC~!

  • I wanna favorite every lesson.

  • lol at the backround! I like how its themed to the lesson or genre he's explaining..

  • I love this theory stuff, so much more gratifying to figure things out yourself than looking up tabs and stuff like that. Keep it comin', Marty!

Love your song lessons too though.

  • Thanks i got a little more stuff from this video!! Your guitar cable got greenscreened out =] lol

  • great lesson...

I also have the same hat

  • Very cool.

    Love acoustic!

  • Great lesson, my fretboard options are really opening up rather than being stuck in a box!
