I like "queer" meaning all-inclusive, BUT I'm sure a lot of people just hear "gay" when you say it, especially people who aren't informed on gender studies or queers.
to me it is all inclusive. when i dont feel like explaining the whole trans genderqueer pansexual asexual? thing I just say I'm queer and thats it. also it works as a political statement as you said, so sums it all quite well, I believe.
I love your reasoning! I thought it might have something to do with The Color Purple (which I haven't read) or maybe that song, "start wearing purple, wearing purple"
But yeah, a new word entirely would be ideal, really :D
Asexual? Being asexual means that one reproduces asexually.
But I think I get what you mean. Being celibate by choice, based on lack of sexual interest in other people. Or something like that.

There are people who conform themselves to some kind of narrow little definition of what they call "the norm", which seems to be imaginary in reality.
Maybe we should just refer to everybody else as Everybody Else.
Sometimes it seems as though conforming to "the norm" makes you a member of a minority group. Just like everybody else.

i agree with your interpretation of the word queer.
...and to answer your question...i have no clu. politics always seem to intrude on the simplest of things. *sigh*

What are you smoking?
I had not made that distinction about "queer" but I do think you're right.
hmmmmmm...another word....Well....How bout..."Bent"
Tobie2 3 years ago
I'm smoking grape flavoured molasses out of my friends shisha.
As for "bent" ...well, we'd still have to go through the rigmarole of reclaiming it and in the meantime, it still implies 2nd class citizens :P

Wow! I have never heard of the Shisha or its contents. Coolio, thanks for edumacating me.
And I see your point about "bent" I will have to go with "purple" then. It just seems to fit for me LOL
Peace and Purple to ya :O)

About Purple...
Well, maybe the mistake is choosing a word that in any way describes us.
Perhaps if we chose a word with no descriptive value, it would not be able to be made into a negative or leave anyone out??
Besides, I like saying "peace and purple" LOL
Nice to meet you by the way :O)
