... I've played , listened to guitar for 40 yrs . ...Jamie is one of the best rhythm guitar players in rock history. There are many great artists , bands who get ,have gotten little or no airtime ..besides the Fixx , Conjure One , Balligomingo , are just 2 of them ...play on
Too cerebral? Too English? Too different? Maybe just too sincere. The Fixx were light-years ahead of most of their 80s contemporaries. Can't wait for "Beautiful Friction"!
@numinaII Too sincere. I think that's it. Their sincerity is the opposite of the hip disaffected attitude required of most Brit pop in order to draw the favor of critics. They're simply more mature then most of rock.
Holy crap! Jamie at 1:23! That is how you PLAY a guitar. Music is putty in his hands and 2:19... What can be said. Rupert knows his keys. Lives and breathes the synthesizer. These guys are sooo good and their videos don't have nearly enough views!
Another fave set. They've helped me through a lot of hard times with their music. I owe them a lot. Thanks guys if you ever read this. Hugs and kisses all 'round.
That line is so prophetic. Lyrically, these guy's are light years ahead of most bands! I never get tired of the Fixx's music. You really can't appreciate their music except by listening to the words....this group sings on issues of ethics and they make so much subtle social commentary. The nuance in this music is what sets them apart: they say so much with so little.
I'll never forget seeing this on MTV in 1989 (I Think!) and Cy's hair tripped me out. Reminded me of the sheephearder dog on Bugs Bunny. Nevertheless they were the best of the day. Awesome performance and unavailable for years!
The reason the Fixx is not bigger than they are is simple:The average person is not cerebral enough to understand their music. They don't sing about tawdry subjects. These guy's write intelligent music for intelligent people.
Sorry not trying to sound arrogant, but just my two cents?
well the surely never received the recognition I always felt they deserved. One of the most incredible and inspirational bands EVER. Unique style and sound and ALWAYS a message all on earth should hear. Their music has gotten me to my destinations SO many times be it a road trip or the day-to-day of a gnarly commute..... The Fixx will for always have a place in my heart and at the top of my music collection. TY for posting this song!
This band deserves alot more recognition than they`ve received. At least they have a cult following. They`re actually bigger in the states than their native U.K..I just wish others could experience the same bliss I receive when tuning into The Fixx. "Calm Animals" is a classic album.
I'm sure Spring-breaker's were thinking, "Oh my god, these guys ROCK! Why the hell are they not played on the radio more?" Ah, Calm Animals... I saw them on this tour. It was absolutely mind-blowing. Another completely over-looked album was "Element." I can listen to it over and over and over. What a incredible band. Absolutely incredible. I got the chance to say that to them once. We were hanging out back stage. I said, "Thank you. Your songs have really put my feelings to music."
Amen. Dig more up from this show if you have it. They sound great. Outdoor shows do these guys justice. They can crank it up a few notches. They sound very tight still.
A GREAT BAND!

I'm intrigued by your comment could you explain what you mean that. Do you think the Fixx have turned their backs on what they once were?

dead right. this band defined the meaning of 'social conscience' before that term became diluted by the commercial bandwagon of U2, Sting et al.
