Very beautiful take on the song. Had my hair standing on end in a few parts. Every now and agail a group produces a song so moving, so haunting that you have to store it in as many places you can. @TheDobligator no lyrics are needed.... pianos are the only instrument that can sing for you while you play. its incredible.... vkgoeswild is another great pianist that i'm sure you would love. think shes better actually, then again, no lyrics. but dude its just a piano thing. just imagine adding lyrics to classical music. it would seem......barbaric. once you get good enough with an instrument words just seem to intrude. acoustic artists like john clarke or igor presnyakov would agree.

@Williama15k I'm not talking about lyrics. I just mean the sound of a voice as an instrument. I think we can all agree that while Tool makes incredible use of all sounds, Maynard's passionate singing is a critical part of their music, especially in songs such as Lateralus or Rosetta Stoned (10,000 Days is of course a prime example. I just haven't seen Adam Monroe cover it.). That's just why I prefer Monroe. This guy is still really good.

@TheDobligator I have watched several videos on Monroe12478's channel and I have to disagree. Monroe simply covers tracks, Thumphrey transforms them.. if I want the original I will listen to it.

@connectproject Touche about the sound quality, but actually, Monroe just takes patterns and notes from the part of the song he's playing and improvises off of them. Sometimes he does just play what is played on the guitar or bass guitar in the song but often he plays his own rythems to it. Listen to his Lateralus.

Cheers :) It wasn't too bad actually, I could already play quite a bit of it on guitar though, so didn't have to spend ages deciphering the notes. My reach isn't as big as his, so I have to play the low D during the verses with my right hand then leap up for the vocal melody, which was pretty tricky to get used to. Right in two is looking like being quite a bit more work.
