Love this, really well done better than the gardening websites, saw how the corn was growing and loved the use of the containers and home-made greenhouse. The music fitted really well and it was clearly done. Well done and thanks for putting the video on.
Love your video! This is my first year with sweetcorn too. Like you, I thought the pollen stalks on top were the corn, then learned from another YouTube video that you can hand pollinate the cobs when you see the hair coming by sprinkling them with the pollen. Really looking forward to my first crop:-) Hope yours is a success too!
Some people laugh at me..... when I tell them I grow tomatoes and beginnings of a lemon tree from my window ledge on Houston Street. Manhattan or course ~shurgs~
thanks for all the comments guys and gals...we grew this corn last year and let me tell ya that it tasted soooo good...really sweet and juicy:)....good luck everyone with your corn growing!!!!
I have been watching videos before starting my garden this spring and this is by far my favorite. My 'little" garden is 40X40 and I told my husband we didn't have room for corn. Maybe I need to reconsider. If you can do that in a tub and have results I may be able to grow an ear or two. Loved it.
Maybe Im just a little extra emotional right now...but I got so excited watching your corn grow that I teared up (lol). I love gardening and may try some corn this year God willing
this gives me some confidence. im a beginner at vegetable gardening and didn't know if i should tackle corn. i actually just planted a corn seed in a pot yesterday just to see how it will turn out :). hope it grows the way yours did. i live in florida. congrats on your successful rooftop garden!
I might add though, if I did this where I live (western Australia) it wouldn't work as well. Our summers are too hot. The containers would dry out too quickly.
Hi pixiequeen...Thank you for your comments:) it is pretty cool this little video is being watched in Australia..
The corn tastes amazing..I still can't believe that we grew it ourselves. maybe you could try just one plant and see how it gets on...I watered (soaked) these every other day and fed them a few times with an organic feeder. like I said, I had no idea of growing any veg let alone sweetcorn...so you never know. good luck...
I should clarify, I can grow corn in the ground here in Australia, but a container garden would be hard. I'd have to be out there watering all the time in summer as it reaches as hot or more than 40C at times. You kiss your garden goodbye at those times. I grew corn last year in the ground and I agree about the taste. I only just moved to a house with a yard this year. Before every thing was in pots. (that all died in summer!)(:))
Cheers pal, you've given me great idea for a couple of old dustbins that I have, sweetcorn here we come...
