I heard it was about Ryan's aunt because she was diagnosed with a terminal disease.. I also heard she was the only one who believed in him when no one else did when it came to his dream of making it in the music industry.. What I do know for sure is that this song is absolutely AMAZING (especially the acoustic version!!) This is now my favorite song from them :)

the lyrics aren't random, it's just a bit more imagery than a lot of music. It's built like a poem to music. there is a lot of deep thinking and analysis that could be applied to this. just my two cents
