  • I have a kx 250 2t and a yz450f 4t and there's alot of differences, advantages and disadvantages between them but i don't think one of them is faster then the other one. I used to be a person that hated 4 strokes, pretty ridicolous to do before youve tried one. 2 strokes are easier to maintane and alot cheaper to buy parts to, 4 strokes are expensive and bitches to work with but they are easier to ride. Theres ups and downs with everything

  • 2 strokes are too high maintance and you cant run them in low rpms without them fouling out. 4 strokes are heavier. Either work alot to have a cooler bike or just ride a 4 stroke. i stick with 4 strokes.

  • Alright lets clear this shit up once and for all. Nicdrums56 you are wrong. The too bikes were simply made in different time periods. However, 2 strokes are great at corners 4 strokes can easily top it. 2 strokes are NOT meant to be ridden wide open but throwing them into last gear and pinning it for a few seconds wont hurt. Finally MrTreajen likes hairy sacks..

  • @tracey6999997777770 i have been riding all my life and its called staying in the powerband its only seizing when the engine is cold but i gess u dont know that

  • @MrTreajen no you can seize it anytime any place all you have to do i create enough friction in the cylinders for them to heat up and expand... you do have to stay in the power band on a 2 stroke but that can be remedied by being in the right gear also.. however there are ways around a seizing engine. for instance if you have your bike pinned if you pull in the clutch and hit the kill engine and pop the clutch again it releases oil on the cylinder walls. ive been riding my whole life too bro.

  • @MrTreajen i wouldn't say 2-3 minutes again it all depends on your fuel gas ratio, the rider, climate, etc. generally you don't seize them but keeping them TOO high on the power band will... so when you say high on the power band you should clarify when you only need to rev it high when starting and going through technical sections other than that they ride like normal bikes.

  • Man I love both of these Bikes I've rode Both and they both rock. In my opinion I like the CRF450 more on the track the KX250 more for trails. But Sometime this week I'll be gettin a 2007 CRF450. The bike I had before was a 2001 KX250. So I love them both. Great Comp. for every bike.

    For all those people saying "OWNED", It's a 250cc v.s a 450cc

    450 is obviously going to win, but the 250 hung in there.

  • but you also have to realize that the 250 is a 2-stroke and the 450 is a 4-stroke. a 2-stroke makes double the revalutions per blow of the piston so they are pretty even, id say the guy on the 250 could have tied if he was a really good rider.

  • heres a tip I own a KX 250 and I learned that I can only win races if I shift early because the 250s have a lot of low end power. when I wind it out, I usaully lose.

    CRF450=around 50 horsepower and 227lbs dry weight

    KX500=Right about 65 horsepower and 220lbs dry weight. Yes. A 500 will still beat your 250.

    Shoot, KX250= 49 horsepower and 213lbs dry weight. One horsepower doesn't make up for 14 pounds.

    It depends on the rider.

    Good rider on CRF450 and good rider on KX250 on a track, lap times will be very close together. YOU should learn something about bikes...

  • the kx guy didnt know how to race... and the crf 450 races in the same class as the kx250s because they both have the same power, crf is a 4 stroke and the kx250 is a 2 stroke... they both have same power but the crf 450 will probly have more bottum end power, and your suppost to start off in 2nd gear on a kx250 and he started in 1st and was scared to give it to much gas at the start cause he thought he would pop a wheelie.

  • okay, just for a bit of information, the 250 and the 450 dont have the same power, the 450 has a considerable amount of torque over the 250, a tad bit more on the horsepower, and the kx 250 only revs to about 8000 rpms where the 450 is 11,500 i believe. but generally in a flat out drag race a 450 will bit a 250 two stroke, around a track a 250 with a good rider can hang but usually wont win.
