What I know about this game is that insuring your ship is not worthed!!! it is stupid to insure it..I used to play this but I had truble transfering money from my old trial and my new trial acc and I was pissed and I simpely stopped playing it.
@iUhec it's detail and thoroughness in design is interesting, that and that fact that it's not in stagnation like so many other MMO's, meaning it's being constantly reinvent or improved in many ways, also minimum lag unless you have like 1k plays in one small area... (in fact they are joining another game with it, a FPS that is set int he same universe and affects EVE wile being a separate game, I think it's under the same subscription too ^_^)
Jesus Christ, on every Eve movie, coments are always about WoW vs EVE. WTF? STFU, stop comparing games, play what you like, and have fun in stead of envy or what ever your fuking problem is.

It only has one server, it has little lag, you can kill any one in the game (but you might have people go after you), player Pirates!@ ARGH...
And most people who quit WOW and go to EVE have a hard time, since WOW spoon feeds more then EVE, and EVE is generally a harder nut to crack for beginners but there is help. Or you can be a fast learner like me };-)
@BoltOfThundor Not really man, eve is just overloaded with useless shit, i just downloaded the two week trail and i didnt see a problem with the scheme, i quickly started learning skills and upgrading my weapons. problem is, the game is just fucking boring man, every time you buy something you gotta warp 5 times to pick it up- then by the time you finally start getting some action the combat mechanics are very disappointing, the ship moves around like a beached whale.
@msbensucks I understand, it's a-bit too strategic... It's better when a players who are just a higher level should be able beat a skilled player who's only 10 levels under him (unless they get lucky, or the opponent is afk half of the time)... I guess I could be wrong, but in the end we could just go do real junk, like paint ball... (though it's expansive as hell, and requires some strength)
@BoltOfThundor Sorry, I should have made that a-bit more readable: all MMO's except for some shooters, seem to be a whole lot of grinding, and leveling and more grinding...
@alastarian1 if you die in this game you die, and your "clone" replaces you with the XP at the time when it was cloned. (or XP that you've gained bellow a #)
Though, if you managed to eject then you'll be fine unless some one pod kills you. Also, you can put insurance onto a ship pricing at different 100% return if your ship was to go CA-BUSH.
This isn't WOW, you don't re-spawn with like 1 damage per item, no you respown firkin naked, freezing, and scrambling out of a cloning tub... >:D WHAAHHA

So its pay to sit around and blink at your screen till you skill up otherwize you cant use shit, guns ammo shit nothing. I flew around doing the stupid military missions which start to become extremely vague, so after warping around for 2 and a half hours i finally saw some action. Its not worth it at all sorry but this game is ZZZ
@msbensucks the high the level of the skill, the more you wait, also you should increase your character "intelligence" attribute, if you smart and don't like to wait as long... also you don't reliegh on skills to magically appear (even though all you need skill wise is quickly available, except for learning to pilot the next tier of ship) you use the ones you have and wait for better ones to arrive the next day or when ever...
A) you didn't chat enough, it's an MMO go raid with other people, I did, then again I was a good beginner (fast learner, who didn't ask stupid questions like 90% of beginners do), so they practically asked me to join.
B) you don't wait for the skills to level up, you que up like 10 skills at a time, you should never have a left over time in the que, and you should put the longest skills at the end of the que

Thats true about a lot of WoW players. Though I try to learn BEFORE I actually get that far into a game, what things such as security in a system means.
@patterson13006 if your talking about the small ships in that frame its the amarr battleship Armageddon. if your talking about the huge thing with the light affects and all that's not a ship that's a stargate. that's how you get system to system.
well u can get in game time codes, called plexs. they cost about 300mil to buy in game, but it beats having to pay rl money, and is especialy ideal for players who have been playing a while. its what i did for my second month subscription
Query: What do you actually do in this game? o_O I mean, I've seen space ships flying around..but that's it. Is it like a space battle MMO or something? That seems sort of hard for newbs to start on. I might get the trial with my next i7 build, just to test its graphics :o
There is loads to do in this game, you could go down the industrial road and get stinking ritch by mining ore and using it to create ships, you could join a factions army and join in the great war going on between the factions, you could turn to piracy and make money by stealing cargo off other players and demanding ransom for their lives. Well, I downloaded the trial again and persevered with the steep learning curve this time and ive got to say my original comments were a bit unfair. Although I still feel stargates and collision detection could be improved that now seems superficial compared to the immesnsity and strategic depth of this game. Signed up to extend my trial now and have ordered another account for an alt.
I only played the trial but the thing that ruined it for me is the poor animation and pathfinding, also you get no sense that there is an epic universe when your traveling through the stargates and acceleration gates as it just feels like your jumping from one area to the next instead of it being one seamless universe.
If you have patience then I imagine the rest is quite good though, fighting for your corp and having massive fleet battles over solar systems would be awesome.
I've only tried the Trial as well, and the problem for me is the complexity! I bet I could get used to it after a while, but being new and alone in the game is.. lonely, lol. Though it was the same thing back in the day with WoW for me, this game's size though is just mind-boggling, and its hard to find where people often congregate.

EVE online is supirior to WoW in every way, it has better gra[hics, a better story, you actually need to be smart to make a name for yourself, and combat requires tactics, not just better equipment and higher levels, not to mention a persistant universe (one server), not to mention a functioning economy. Oh and no level grinding.
Ya, well I'm making a WoW account aswell (although I must say its just to hang out with a friend who moved away). So WoW has some ok points, I just think EVE is sleeker and smarter.
I'm actually really concidering to get this, first off, how much? Second, how many ships are there and has anything changed since Second Genesis. And third, is there a Planetary Cannon to strike down enemy capital ships? Perhaps on a friendly faction planet? "POWER UP THE ANUBIS CANNON AND GET READY FOR SOME KICKASS FIREWORKS!"
There's 10 ship classes not including capitals or T2 variants (most ships have at least 1 upgraded T2 version that are massively changed from the original hull) and 4 races. The total number of ships including rare factional, tech 2 and capital ships is around 220. Cost is around £20 for 60 day game time card. I wasn't around at second gen but CCP regularly adds plenty of new gameplay features. And no, no cap ship swatting planetary weapons, all combat is in space.
you are a "pilot" of a space craft which is the basic backsetting and there is plenty of things to do, fight criminals, create/join corperations, fight in corp. wars, mine, create and sell ships and other goods on the massive eve marketplace and basically try to become the best in the game.
35,000 people on one server can make for some funny ass lag (its a lot better than it was) gon are the days of doing a mission with rats blasting you and wondering why your not getting damaged then blowing up compleatly at random 5 min later... ok its only happend to me once and CCP refunded the isk of the ship and mods =D
I suck at eve. I only have a destroyer and i get shot every week. I recomend to all new players to play in system with security level higher than 0.4. If you come to a 0.4 system, you will probably get your ass kicked at the gate. This game rocks. GET IT. we need more people
Well, lol, the reason you cannot find it in stores is because it's not SOLD in stores :) Go to the EVE Online website (search google) And get out your credit card. It's $20 for the first month and $15 after that each month. You download it from the website. Yes, everyone plays on the same server, "Tranquility". (Aside from test servers of course)
its a damn nice game, but i gave up on it cus i always ended up getting pod killed before i could get far in the game, and had to start over with my damn ship all the time. or well not that many times like 2-3 times and i gave up.

Dont mark this as spam please, just alittle warning to players who think this is a fast paced shoot em up game, well its not its a time based game there is NO lvling characters, you train skills may sound easy yet it aint, some skills can take months to train up to a lvl thus your get diffrent sorts of skills to make training more easy and quicker, for example my character Oceda has all learning skills mostly lv 5 thus training is not that slow for me, so be warry it is a timebased game.
Objective of this game is your choice, you can either become a tradesome buying wares from a cheap area an selling them in a diffrent area for a higher price or a barter, fighter, ect ect lots a ways to bring in the ISK personally I just stayed out in 0.0 sectors (Low security sectors) an ratted or ransomed other players an stuff thus since I was able to offord my carrier an dreadnought, the true objective of the game is to have fun.
Humansupreme... if you now warp manually (non-autopilot) you get directly to the gate. You can now without problem warp to anything withing 0 km. And yes I remember this being a pain in the ass, it's ok now.
i like EVE but the thing is that it's not like controling your ship with a joy stick going pew pew, it's like any other MMO with the /target and the attack with lazers button.
If EVE was more like a space combat game (like how Tabula Rasa challanged FPS) it might be pretty fun :)
Eve couldn't be like that, it would put WAY too much strain on the severs if players could fly anyway they wanted, with the mouse click system it keeps the sever from screaming "GOd no more" and falling over and dying lol
New ship models and textures are great. But when I was playing Revelations I always wanted warping to different areas and systems to be a little smoother. Also to improve the transition to different systems somehow. Also I didn't like the bugs with using the map view while on autopilot. Anyone know if they've helped any of these things?
Lovely fighter drones, there nasty buggers, as you seen in the vid with the carrier against 3 battleship rats in which are quite nasty but I had say I think it was 12-14 fighter drones just hitting on them.
I have my drones doing at least 400-800dmg a pop depending on which ones :P
If your guna spend at least a year to just FLY a carrier dont bother, you need to spend 2 yrs so you can fly and accutally USE the carrier properly since they can be quite nasty with the right skills.
I think players jumping into the carrier from your corp and jump into those frigates to give you a hand on some small or nasty PVPers but the carrier alone can handle any kind of rat if you have the skills. I have all my ship/drone/navigation/gunnery/ ect ect skills trained up to lv 5 so I can jump from Halh to Omist in atleast 1-2 jumps with the carrier.
Well im mostly in 0.0 with those two shiny capital ships (I am Oceda from Eve :P)
Its not all that easy in 0.0 if your a cap pilot since you have one huge ass sense readout :S but its fun since the carrier can hold 3 Battleships or a mess load of T1-T2 frigates an the carrier is mainly used a huge ass 0.0 hawler for companys like the one im in CDSV (Caldari Deep Space Ventures) But you are pretty safe since if you put a clone vac bay in the carrier you can have up to 10 players or is it 5? --

So don't die...
Both in this game and the real world...
Also, don't go into low security systems, that's were you get a-lot of the pirate players who pray on the week, or wolf pack attack other ships...
(you might escape, and you can find more isk (cash) but they might also prevent you from warping if they are rigged correctly so...)

Well, I downloaded the trial again and persevered with the steep learning curve this time and ive got to say my original comments were a bit unfair. Although I still feel stargates and collision detection could be improved that now seems superficial compared to the immesnsity and strategic depth of this game. Signed up to extend my trial now and have ordered another account for an alt.

I only played the trial but the thing that ruined it for me is the poor animation and pathfinding, also you get no sense that there is an epic universe when your traveling through the stargates and acceleration gates as it just feels like your jumping from one area to the next instead of it being one seamless universe.
If you have patience then I imagine the rest is quite good though, fighting for your corp and having massive fleet battles over solar systems would be awesome.

I've only tried the Trial as well, and the problem for me is the complexity! I bet I could get used to it after a while, but being new and alone in the game is.. lonely, lol. Though it was the same thing back in the day with WoW for me, this game's size though is just mind-boggling, and its hard to find where people often congregate.

EVE online is supirior to WoW in every way, it has better gra[hics, a better story, you actually need to be smart to make a name for yourself, and combat requires tactics, not just better equipment and higher levels, not to mention a persistant universe (one server), not to mention a functioning economy. Oh and no level grinding.

Ya, well I'm making a WoW account aswell (although I must say its just to hang out with a friend who moved away). So WoW has some ok points, I just think EVE is sleeker and smarter.

I'm actually really concidering to get this, first off, how much? Second, how many ships are there and has anything changed since Second Genesis. And third, is there a Planetary Cannon to strike down enemy capital ships? Perhaps on a friendly faction planet? "POWER UP THE ANUBIS CANNON AND GET READY FOR SOME KICKASS FIREWORKS!"

There's 10 ship classes not including capitals or T2 variants (most ships have at least 1 upgraded T2 version that are massively changed from the original hull) and 4 races. The total number of ships including rare factional, tech 2 and capital ships is around 220. Cost is around £20 for 60 day game time card. I wasn't around at second gen but CCP regularly adds plenty of new gameplay features. And no, no cap ship swatting planetary weapons, all combat is in space.

you are a "pilot" of a space craft which is the basic backsetting and there is plenty of things to do, fight criminals, create/join corperations, fight in corp. wars, mine, create and sell ships and other goods on the massive eve marketplace and basically try to become the best in the game.

35,000 people on one server can make for some funny ass lag (its a lot better than it was) gon are the days of doing a mission with rats blasting you and wondering why your not getting damaged then blowing up compleatly at random 5 min later... ok its only happend to me once and CCP refunded the isk of the ship and mods =D

I suck at eve. I only have a destroyer and i get shot every week. I recomend to all new players to play in system with security level higher than 0.4. If you come to a 0.4 system, you will probably get your ass kicked at the gate. This game rocks. GET IT. we need more people

Well, lol, the reason you cannot find it in stores is because it's not SOLD in stores :) Go to the EVE Online website (search google) And get out your credit card. It's $20 for the first month and $15 after that each month. You download it from the website. Yes, everyone plays on the same server, "Tranquility". (Aside from test servers of course)

It's a heavily menu driven RPG. No FPS element to it. You can get a free 14 day trial if you go to their homepage.
Take a little while to get used to it, but it's fun.

its a damn nice game, but i gave up on it cus i always ended up getting pod killed before i could get far in the game, and had to start over with my damn ship all the time. or well not that many times like 2-3 times and i gave up.

Now, don't give up like that! The great thing about EVE is it tailors to every type of PC. If you can support premum graphics, you can download them. If not, you stick to the old graphics, the same great game. Go ahead and give the trial a run, i will send you a wingman invite, just send me a message with your email.

Dont mark this as spam please, just alittle warning to players who think this is a fast paced shoot em up game, well its not its a time based game there is NO lvling characters, you train skills may sound easy yet it aint, some skills can take months to train up to a lvl thus your get diffrent sorts of skills to make training more easy and quicker, for example my character Oceda has all learning skills mostly lv 5 thus training is not that slow for me, so be warry it is a timebased game.

Objective of this game is your choice, you can either become a tradesome buying wares from a cheap area an selling them in a diffrent area for a higher price or a barter, fighter, ect ect lots a ways to bring in the ISK personally I just stayed out in 0.0 sectors (Low security sectors) an ratted or ransomed other players an stuff thus since I was able to offord my carrier an dreadnought, the true objective of the game is to have fun.

Humansupreme... if you now warp manually (non-autopilot) you get directly to the gate. You can now without problem warp to anything withing 0 km. And yes I remember this being a pain in the ass, it's ok now.

Yea that's how I remember it was. I would do that to get through dangerous areas.
I was wondering more about the graphical transitions when you jump to another system. I thought they could improve those some how.
Also was wondering if they fixed the bug with running autopilot while you are in map view.

i like EVE but the thing is that it's not like controling your ship with a joy stick going pew pew, it's like any other MMO with the /target and the attack with lazers button.
If EVE was more like a space combat game (like how Tabula Rasa challanged FPS) it might be pretty fun :)

Eve couldn't be like that, it would put WAY too much strain on the severs if players could fly anyway they wanted, with the mouse click system it keeps the sever from screaming "GOd no more" and falling over and dying lol

New ship models and textures are great. But when I was playing Revelations I always wanted warping to different areas and systems to be a little smoother. Also to improve the transition to different systems somehow. Also I didn't like the bugs with using the map view while on autopilot. Anyone know if they've helped any of these things?

Lovely fighter drones, there nasty buggers, as you seen in the vid with the carrier against 3 battleship rats in which are quite nasty but I had say I think it was 12-14 fighter drones just hitting on them.
I have my drones doing at least 400-800dmg a pop depending on which ones :P
If your guna spend at least a year to just FLY a carrier dont bother, you need to spend 2 yrs so you can fly and accutally USE the carrier properly since they can be quite nasty with the right skills.

I think players jumping into the carrier from your corp and jump into those frigates to give you a hand on some small or nasty PVPers but the carrier alone can handle any kind of rat if you have the skills. I have all my ship/drone/navigation/gunnery/ ect ect skills trained up to lv 5 so I can jump from Halh to Omist in atleast 1-2 jumps with the carrier.

Well im mostly in 0.0 with those two shiny capital ships (I am Oceda from Eve :P)
Its not all that easy in 0.0 if your a cap pilot since you have one huge ass sense readout :S but its fun since the carrier can hold 3 Battleships or a mess load of T1-T2 frigates an the carrier is mainly used a huge ass 0.0 hawler for companys like the one im in CDSV (Caldari Deep Space Ventures) But you are pretty safe since if you put a clone vac bay in the carrier you can have up to 10 players or is it 5? --
