You would think a cop would know better. Even if the transmission did slip out of gear which is possible, that is the reason you ALWAYS set the parking brake FIRST. But just like cops, a lot people have a habit of just putting it in Park and leaving. Not realizing the strain they put on the parking pawl in the transmission.
