  • Rest in Peace, Lady Kelly.

  • Grace was amazing in this movie

    who is jude

    just GRACE I LOVE YOU

  • This movie underscored the need for a womans' movement. Somebody should have slapped the taste out of Holden's mouth.

  • I think Grace shows her range as an actress here.I´m a Judy fan as well but Grace knocks it out of the ballpark here.Sadly nothing has changed in Hollywood, with women rarely get this meaty material and more often get to play the beautiful blonde.

  • Regardless of the Oscar controversy, this movie to me is a classic. The kind of acting you rarely see today. A wonderful picture!

  • I'll admit her intonation is quite limited, but the one justification for her academy award is probably the length of her scenes. In some shots there is very little editing and conversations go on and on without inserting any cutaways whatsoever. And within those scenes there is often a range of emotion. A very theatrical performance. Probably very few actresses or directors can do that anymore. These days you need constant editing. And when she wears that black dress towards the end--WOW!

  • Kelly won an Oscar for this very controlled, bland performance? She was beautiful but she wasn't much of an actress. The award should have gone to Judy Garland.

  • she didn't deserved the academy award. AT ALL

  • I agree. Judy should have won.

  • While this was a stretch for Grace as an actress, and pushed her abilities to their limit, resulting in an excellent performance for her. However, no matter how great one thinks she was in this picture, Dandridge's and Garland's performances were legendary. Carmen Jones and A Star is Born were the best work of their career and both had a really great body of work before them. Grace was a virtually unknown actress with a great supporting cast. D&G carried their movies alone and deserved it more.

  • A great movie that shows Bing Crosby's many talents. It's his best dramatic role.

  • Love Grace so much. 5 stars!

  • Grace Kelly is legendary... too bad, that kind of talent is rare nowadays..

  • Forget Judy v Grace--BING was robbed!

  • Judy shouldn't have got the oscar judy is gr8 but Dottie SHOULD HAVE GOT IT for Carmen Jones i agree grace is not known for this but as a princess not winning this, but Halle Berry really shouldn't & didn't deserve to be the first black woman to win best actress oscar Dorothy Dandridge did as she was a big star the black Marilyn Monroe yet she'll alway be in HALLES SHADOW now and if dorothy won it she wouldn't have given a over done very annoying speech eva

  • I agree. Dorothy was robbed! Her skin color was simply a barrier. However let's not forget the importance of her being nominated! That was quite amazing for the time! That she was nominated at all makes her a winner in my book!

  • isn't the scene with william and differ to the disc version?? i swear.. i watch this movie over and over again.. its relly strong!!

    especially grace's voice..

    jimmycfo!!

    are u like serious??

    that sounds like and insult!!

  • I don't know about Kelly but concur on Holden...haha.

  • Grace did such a good job for this.

  • I saw the stage version, not so good, lacked pazzazz. Then again, it's hard to beat the likes of Grace Kelly.

  • That was the Scene when the Academy decided that that Oscar was Grace's and not Judy's...

  • Which (in my opinion) was complete bull. Grace Kelly is a good actress no doubt, but that Oscar should have been Judy's. She was absolutley amazing in "A Star Is Born". I truly think it's one of the biggest mistakes ever made by the Academy.

  • Well, it's really different from what she usually plays - you know, pretty, charming girls; but over here, she played a woman with obstacles & having 2 cope w/ her depending husband... man that scene where she shouted at Bernie dodd was amazing.

  • I also agree that Judy SHOULD have won the Oscar, and that it was a huge mistake made by the Academy. While Grace's preformance was great, Judy's was the better of the two. I don't see why Judy didn't win? I mean she was the front runner to win. People today know Kelly as "Princess Grace", and don't even remember The Country Girl. While, A Star is Born and Judy Garland's preformance are immortal.

  • Judy might have gone in as the frontrunner, but you have to realize The Country Girl, and not A Star Is Born, was nominated for Best Picture. It was based on a play, a true actors' piece. It's easy to see how they could have justified it partly on the basis of the film and role themselves.

  • Nobody even remembers this film and Kelly's performance nowadays. Judy Garland and "A Star is Born" are immortal.

  • I don't think she was the front-runner - the Globes, National Board of Review & New York Critics all picked Kelly.

  • @BillyL96 The first Star is Born was the best IMO and she already got her Oscar ten years earlier.

  • What an excellent portrayal of the destructive force of addiction, and the lives it touches. Great performances by all 3 stars. Utterly blown away at Grace Kelly. Thanks for posting.

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

    Great cast - great story

    GREAT William.
