anytime. im an american with strong family ties in Canada. Whats not to love about the great white north? great hunting and fishing, these wonderful knives, tim hortons, but most of all you amazing people gave the world mans greatest sport HOCKEY!!! lol but to answer the guy below about the blade steel ...its all about preference the steel used for the belt knife is great however carbon steel will take a better edge and is easier to hone. it does require more care tho.
i have to say i prefer my good old murphy skinner over the russel canadian belt knife . i have both and the murphy just takes a better edge but much respect to the original these are my fav all time deer hunting knives perfect design
Great vid for a great line of knives. The Russell fillet knife are also of very good quality. The quality inspectors at grohmann sure are fussy, the seconds are a steal of a deal.
@sprucepantherkmt Actually, it is a classic Hudson's Bay Blanket. It has blue, yellow, red, and green stripes, but only the red, and green are showing.
oh, just ordered the r murphy knockoff of the grohmann (i cant afford the grohmann till next year) it has 1095 steel...i think thats a better steel than the grohmann?
I'm a young hunter and currently use a 1960s (the exact year eludes me) vintage belt knife used by my grandfather and father for years of hunting. Even through all the abuse, hundreds of adventures, and god knows what else it still serves me well in my first years as a hunter. (Albeit the sheath HAS been replaced a few times, I still own the original leather one. However use my own custom kydex sheath now) But truly these are beautiful knives, and truly Canadian.
I just bought the same knife from the seconds section (36 bucks plus shipping). Hopefully I'll pick up the traditional belt knife over the summer (in Carbon Steel).
It would be a shame if a Canadian knife collector did not own a couple Grohmans.
I thought so. Beautifull Knife though, Im working on getting me one. I love the fact that they are made here in Canada! Have you seen the new 50th aniiversary edition #1 on there website? Anyway, Thank-You. Great vids, Keep them Coming
Is that belt knife a #2 bird and trout or the original#1 grohmann D.H Russel belt Knife? looks like less steep of a pitch then the pic on there website
do ou think that would be a dood bushcraft knife because i can get it from the burlington lee valley

They are a great knife! And it sounds like you got a fine deal. I agree, every Canadian knife collector should have one, or two, or ....;)

Thanks for the compliments on the vids!
I saw that 50th anniversary one, looks nice.
Sometimes Grohmann has some sweet deals in their clearance area too. Some factory seconds that have a scratch or nick on them.
