can you use any VST or sound kits from logic 9 or pro tools or any DAW in general with the guitar? i love hip hop and rock so you can imagine how helpful this would be since I'm not THAT good on keyboard as i am guitar....thanks
@georgeisratemint More like my..audio-video syncing skills.I recorded the parts first in my daw and i..aired guitared them again to record the video. But the syncing wasnt perfect...thats all.
@mynameistheman12345 I dont see why not.I have seen it working with abledon and iam pretty sure reason is no exception...after all it works as a midi controller.. so it ll work in every DAW.
Hi awesome video!!! I really like your YouRock technique. Very very well dome! I play fingerstyle guitar and am having a bit of trouble not triggering extra notes on the YouRock . I was wondering what your control settings are? Or if you have any tips in general. Thanks
@zblofu Thx my friend.I mainly use the screws from the back to make the strings looser and more sensitive.Control settings can only do so much.Unscrew each one little by little and see how it feels to the corresponding finger. If you use a pick try a pretty light one although picks are not the best with YRG.For fingerstyle i use the classical way to pluck the notes as you can see but even then there would be a couple of those lost here and there. Its not a ztar but it gets the job done...lol.
@TheW4RP1G Thx for the heads up.I have seen the guy before.Definately a great player and awesome sweeper. To tell you the truth i havent installed the latest firmware to see how the string sensitivity has improved but i find it really hard to pick like a normal guitar. The cool thing though is that you can play arpeggio shapes(that dont involve finger rolling tech) just by tapping them or creating new ones(pick misses notes here). The guitar at the end is a cheap partcaster i made from ebay parts.
@criticomusical23 iam pretty sure that you can email them and they send you replacement strings.I havent done it myself..but i know many users that did.Of course it depends on your way of playing too.I dont use it for strumming or picking....i mainly tap on it or use my fingers to pluck the strings...so it ll be much harder in my case for the strings to break. And remember..dont treat this as a real guitar but as a midi interface that happens to look like one...there is a big difference.
@backw4rdsmarath0n when you say sweeps you mean like we do it on the electric?if you mean that it isnt very efficient in doing so...but if you pay close attention you can play arpeggios by simply..tapping them(the right shapes of course) no need for the right hand here.
@ruemiser yes but it always depends on what you wanna do.For example someone who just wants to solo with vsts...can get the sonuus and solo with his real guitar(no chords of course). This thing for me is really useful to get midi performances on my daw without having to use the damn pencil to draw notes. It even works with guitar pro.Although i dont use its gaming junk and internal sounds the price is decent anyways.
@ruemiser it can but not quite perfect. In order to achieve the sensitivity i wanted i losened the strings with a screw they have in the back. And iam playing with my fingers and not the pick.Pick is far more difficult to use with this controller.tapping>fingers>pick...thats the order of...easiness lol.In this video iam also triggering virtual synths..no internal sounds were used.I think its great for that.
@ruemiser Actually its bad audio syncing on my part more than latency.Latency its not a problem.String sensitivity on the other hand is another issue.....
If you don't play piano, cello, violin etc. but good on guitar, then you have use for this midi guitar a lot, I try a real guitar whit a midi interface, and I think it not easy to trig the midi same the you rock guitar do.
@toveco Yes i agree..plus midi pickups and converters are expensive and difficult to set up correctly. This is a cheap and decent option if you wanna record things fast. But you know if you only want to solo and not play chords...there is also the sonuus device where you can use your regular guitar and solo with any midi instrument. And its also cheap and easy to use.All of these things though have some getting used to...but they offer enough and the price is right.
You still need to learn how to read notes, doesn't matter if you have an awesome midi guitar, if you don't know any notes. Does it have the same learning issue with a normal guitar, hours of practicing, to get the harden skin at the tip of the fingers?
@Ryuuken24 Its not a real and expensive midi guitar mate. Its a cheap midi controller..there is a difference. And of course you need to learn about music whether you play a real or a plastic guitar. But this is not a real guitar,it doesnt have real strings, doesnt get out of tune or plays like a real one...it does different things. If you know how to play a real guitar you can play this...but the opposite isnt possible.
@Dreamdancer11 For 200 bucks I thought it would be a good deal, if there weren't any finger issues, just pick it up and play. So what's a good midi guitar for you? You did do a good job playing this one, but it does seem you have a very extensive time with guitars. I want something easy, and that won't require hard finger skin, is that even possible? Thanks, anyways!
@darvasmate Actually i was first cloned somewhere far away...and then teleported next to ...myself...a thing of beauty really if you think about it....
@RuiCarinhoso iam using a mac and the soundcard is an m-audio fast track.Any pc and soundcard will do i think though.i dont know about your case but in my case it was just plug and play...didnt have to setup anything.
I have a good question I've never seen here on youtube! Can you play midi drums using You Guitar using some preset samples from a program like EZ drummer or Superior Drummer?????
@ProgTechDethcore Sure you can.I though about playing the drums in the video with YRG(the drums was from addictive drums) too but i was bored out of my mind just thinking about it.But it works..if you can play your samples with a regular midi controller you can play them with this thing too...thats why i bought it in the first place.....to have a guitar like midi controller and not busting my balls with keyboards.i havent used ez or superior drummer but since they are vsts then you are set.
@southsidekre1 yes it does. But i think it works with any DAW anyways. It works like a midi controller afterall so you wont have any problem.i even saw it working alongside Guitar Pro playing the notes instead ot inputing them manually...and that is really cool in my book.If it didnt have the gaming junk and the onboard sounds it would be even better but hey...i guess you cant have everything...lol.
@geffel i think that is its most useful trait.it needs a little fine tuning from u in the beggining to adjust it to your playing but other than that it gets the job done. You ll get the bulk of your midi data in your DAW where you can correct any minor glitches or mistakes.Saves you time in my opinion.i was using Guitar pro to input data note by note and it took forever. And since i dont play keys that well this thing is immensly useful and relatively affordable.
@johngov Thank you too.I think the problem with these things is how they market them. They put online videos of people trying to play guitar on them. Its actually more useful for guitarists who cant play keyboards well and wanna use the wealth of midi and samples.Basically a useful tool to record not a stage performance instrument.Even for that alone its price is really decent.

Watch Dan Mumm for some extremely good sweeping arpeggios on the You Rock guitar. Also, what kind of guitar is the electric at the end?

but that guitar is a problem.
It seems that if a string breaks do not sell in the market.
Does it? Where can I buy strings?
