i have create male elven rogue..for me..rogue is the best in all character..because of their talent and skill..i can fight the whole army with my single rogue..no need morrigan,wyvnne neither alistair for fight..no need health poultice..no need greater poultice..but my rogue weak againts ogre..because ogre can grab my character..i use archer and 2 weapons(dagger)..very nice..when they attack my rogue..no single attack hit my rogue.. lol..

Basically to be the most effective as a melee Rogue, you only take passive talents and do nothing but auto attack as that is the only time you'll backstab. Using abilities actually ruins your damage. So turn Momentum on and keep backstabbing.

As a ranged Rogue you want to build it the same way. You stack +critical chance items and auto attack, making each hit a critical attack and never use an ability. Even Arrow of Slaying is not that great as it takes longer as opposed to atuo attacking.

@tarded01 Well, I started playing again with a rogue and I wanted to use the bow a fair amount as well as using dual weapons...I've put most of my points into cunning and dexterity...I basically left strength alone until level 10....DON'T DO THIS! I thought lethality would be a nice substitute...it is not! Sure you may hit higher now...but that's if you ever hit your target. With any melee weapons you need to worry about str and dex for your accuracy for melee weps. Try to just balance the 3 =)

thats because you probably didn't take the bard specialization. if you take bard and apply the song of courage(the 3rd talent) you will always hit. plus, cunning adds bonuses to most of the rogue abilities. so it really is a disadvantage to go with strength. if you go cunning and apply these song of courage, you will hit harder, get better bonuses,and get better armor penetration going with the cunning lethality route. (BUT YOU HAVE TO USE THE 3RD BARD TALENT)

best way to use a rouge is to use dual daggers, just put in dex the amount needed for the skills you want and put the rest into cun, you can easily get over 100 damage with each hit with the right setup, also a good armor would be a chest piece that is sold at wades, but you have to finish 3 of the main quests. and best of all when combined with the gloves and boots that you get from wade doing the quest said here, you will stilll get the item set bonus

I never got Dual Striking cause I didn't like the idea of not being able to backstab. But what this guy says, about using it if the enemy is facing you and then turning it off when he's not facing you. I never even considered that but it makes sense.

Dual daggers + damage runes + Momentum is all you need, you'll end up doing more damage with auto-attacks than with abilities (Dirty Fightning + Riposte are only Talents you should use)... personally I find Dual Wield Warriors more fun to play with all their skillspamming and they require less micromanagement too (and they do surprisingly high DPS too), try both and see which one you like better.

@SolidSkillz187 you have to look at the benifits. assassins have the best ability whenit comes to backstabs, but if that is all you can do, youl find this game a massive blockade for most of the time. duelists can be useful for many things, like dodging away from attacks or destroying groups of enemies. bards are like champions with warrior, they help boost freindly characters effectivness. and finally, rangers can call animal assistance, which can let blood mages drain health from them safely.

@aercron Marjolaine's Recurve is good if you're gonna use Leliana as archer, but Far Song is THE best bow you can get:

+2 damage

Rapid aim

+3% ranged critical chance

+10 attack

+10% critical/backstab damage

Combine that with Aim & Song of Courage and your CUN rogue will do ungodly amount of ranged damage. My char had 45% Crit chance and did 80-110 damage on crit hits... not to mention she also Shattered frozen/petrified enemies :P

i can help with this. you know owen the blacksmith in redcliffe? he asks you to go find his daughter in the castle. don't find her and tell owen, and he will suicide. later in the game a new merchant will take his place and you can get the far song from him. i think you need to complete 2 treaties first.

Actually i dont think you need to complete the first 2 treaties, u just have to go into the Castle through the Sawmill or w/e.(MAKE SURE YOU DONT OPEN THE CELLER ALL THE WAY AT THE END OF ONE OF THE HALLS) After you get to the part where you have to decide what to do about the Demon Boy,you can just leave the castle and go

to tell Owen you didnt find hr. Then leave Redcliffe and come back. Go to the Blacksmith and there will be a new merchant there.

So how much strenght should a melée spec rogue have? The rogue is going to be dex heavy, about 100+. With may be 40 into cunning. And hoping to use good daggers if I find any. Right now I'm level 7, and what's the level cap? I already have duelist slot open but have not specialized it, hoping to go for assassin specilization since I hear it's more "passive" skill based. @Raafi1234 20 strength max for melee rouge. as you can choose the leathality skills in the rouge skill tree. which allows you to use your cunning score in place of strength for damage out put. mostly put in dex, to bout 36. loads in cunning, get 20 strength by going to mage tower, using the attributes your find in the fade. yea daggers are the best, always go for backstabs, deal major damage. use momentum skill ( super fast attack) and get duelist as soon as for the defence boost

@AGElite87 Actually, the attack speed for full-sized weapons like longswords is slower than daggers, and unless you have the talent to use Cunning in place of Strength for damage calculations damage will be inferior. Having said that, backstabs CAN be achieved with full-sized weapons like Longswords in my experience, they're just slower.

If you're going powerhouse, dual full-sized weapons is okay, but if you're going traditional Cunning+Dex rogue, only 20 Points of STR is needed.

SCREW THE DRAKE ARMOR, GET FELON'S COAT BEFORE YOU GIVE HIM THE SCALES.

Once Wade starts working with drake/dragon scales the shopkeeper will not sell you anything, thus you lose access to some of the better armors of the game.

I still think dwarf tanking is the funnest. I'm lvl 22 with 40 str and 70 constitution. Got about 650hp so I can tank out stuff easily on nightmare:) I combo threaten(passive) with taunt, and it works out perfectly

I have a few tips for you.. if you wanna get high damage thwen you should put points in little dex and high cun and if you want high def and attack rates (attack rate= attack speed) then put dex and little cunning no need for strength. Or maybe sum strenght for gear but not much

Put everything into Cunning and enough Dex (hard points) for talents. Gear dex requirement can be reached by hard points + equipment bonus (wherein as talents need hard points only). Enough strength + equipment bonus for equipments. Always wear light armor if you are not tanking so you don't get fatigue. Run Bard as one of your specialization and run Song of Courage, which feeds your Cunning score directly into bonus damage. Make sure you get Lethality too, obviously.

my rougue is actually a cunning-dex-stre person

i basically use dirty fighting then i use flurry,powerhouse,then riposte

they have to chance to fight back when they are stunned

oh and if u are a strenght person go to the bracillian forest and complete the wizard's hidden objects

the armor is good in the beginning because its 25 res to all elements if u have it all,its armor is really impressive but the fatigue is pretty high

i talk too much but i gotta say this: far song is the best bow. during the castle redcliff quest promise to find owen's daughter, valena. do not rescue her on purpose. after you're in the castle and choosing what to do with connor, before you kill the demon and rescue connor go tell owen you couldn't find valena. leave redcliff and come back. owen will have committed suicide and the new merchant will have far song.

I have found this to be a problem with DA. Sometimes the guys just wont attack on there own.

If all of his skills are stamina based and he is out of stamina, he may not attack.

I would assume that if you reboot your pc or restart the game a couple of times he may come out of it.

Be sure your tactics are set correctly. I have a how to video covering that.

@kangurya Are you sure you set 'Attack - Nearest Enemy' in you Tactics Slots for everyone? That might be the reason if you haven't.

your team position must be on hold so they dont move to attack.. change it to move freely and it should work

@kangurya I had this issue, turned out it was my tactics. The posture and abilities I had selected told my toons to not do anything if their tactics didn't apply. Adjusted them all and they are fine. Set their posture to aggressive or ranged and they'll get into the fight without you micro-managing their every move. Hope it helps

This is not the game's fault. You're not setting up your party members' tactics correctly. Unless you set their behavior to aggressive for melee characters or ranged for archers and mages your party members will not attack unless you give them orders to do so.

Thats Not The Best Bow In The Game. Get SteelBark Or W.e Its Called For The Elf That Does the Smithing In The Forest And Pick The Bow Its Way Better, n theres better bows than that one too, this man doesnt know what he is talking about lol

All the controls are in your manual. Page 6,7 of your pc manual. These should also be listed through your in game menu.
