he also killed 2 stable boys, had to waer a muzzle and be handled with 2 stallion poles, and would savage the mares so bad when he bred they had to be covered in heavy padded blankets
I wonder where are the stars. No Triple Crown Winner since 1978. And very rare that any horse that runs The Derby,Preakness and Belmont in recent years Have not returned the next year, Last year excluded. I belive the Trotting Triple Crown Is Hardest to Win. 2 Winners since 1972. Throughbred Racing has had none since 1978. It makes you wonder about Stars and Numbers!
Why harness racing is practically dead: the world's foremost Standardbred, and these chickens run a Triple Crown event as a non-betting race! Would be UNHEARD OF in the Thoroughbreds! You take your minus pool, get publicity out of it, let the fans beat you the one time, and move on. Thoroughbred racing has stars...harness racing has numbers...[sigh]
stop whining.. thoroughbred racing's stars retire in October of their 3 year old season because of those fake foot bruises... How long was Gallo Blue Chip or Moni Maker or Bunny Lake around? gtfooh
and your point is? your talking about one case... I'm talking about everyone of T-bred's racing stars.... it totally blows that they retired Bernie, Smarty, Alex, Birdstone etc. etc. all before their times.. the ONLY reason we still have Funny Cide or Lava Man is because they're geldings... I'm shocked that Invasor is still racing....
Take a trip to sweeden/italy/france and see if the sport is "practically dead" There are thousands of peaople waching and many of them are not waching because of the betting, but because of the sport!

Ah, the old Yonkers Raceway. It looks like an ugly prison complex now after they built the "racino".
