  • @deepa, if you have stainless plate, you can pour one 'whole big spoon of batter'. You will be able to put only 4 or 5 in one plate and you will not be able to stack it. Grease the plate with oil spray before putting the batter. You don't need a cooker either! In a big pan, boil water and keep some base on top of which you keep the plate.MAke sure it doesn't tilt and cover & steam it for 10-15 mnts. You can always check if its done.

  • Dear Manjula, I want to say BIG THANK YOU for lessons from yours kitchen. I like yours clips very much, very well done. Dishes always look so wonderful, ace. :) Best regards from Europe, from Lithuania.

  • Hello aunty i tried Rava Idli and it turned out very good! You are a best teacher ever.

  • Hi manjula, what if we don't have those steaming trays what could you use?

  • Another fantastic dish!! Thx so much Manjula.

  • Thank you aunty x

  • Aunty, if you let the idlis cool a bit in its mould, it will come out clean and will not stick to the mould.

  • @tatri1 Thank you.

  • yummy

  • I just wanted to say thank you for all of your posts...I have learned so much from you :) I had always wanted to learn to cook like this and you have made it easy to follow :) You are amazing!

I have a question about the ENO...if I cannot find it in a store near me, can I substitute something else in the recipe?

  • @geologybabe use baking soda, sodium bicarbonate.

  • Happy 11 Aunt y !

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR MANJULAJI...

  • what kind of salt is this? thanks

  • @ImaLanger Eno is Sodium Bicarbonate (46.4%), Citric Acid (43.6%), Sodium Carbonate (10%) so maybe you can find these items and combine the powders yourself. Here in the US I find the first two in almost any grocery in the baking and home canning section under different brand names. You can order the ENO off of the internet also. Hope this helps, Susie

  • @deepa7885

    Tr egg poacher

  • @deepa7885 When I was in India, I often had Idli that were steamed in banana leaves, kind of like tamales.

  • @deepa7885..... deepa put 1 or 2 small bowl / katori up-side-down in big pan(in which u gonna boil your idli) ,than put 1 big steel plate/pie plate and top of that put small 4 to 5 bowls (depends on size)..........enjoy
