Thanks to advances in technology this is getting harder and harder to

do. Internet predators are getting smarter and so are children.

When you plug your USB drive into your computer, you can access any

site on the web. Once the flash drive has been removed, your kids can

only visit sites that you have approved. Thanks to SnipeSlider ! new way to protect children on the internet.

Every tip you just read is easy enough to follow...if you use common sense. If you feel weird about anything, don't do it. Stop and think then act. Contact cyminfo@cdow.org

  • @Grancie48 Always keep your laptop password protected. (see tip #8).

Never leave your laptop alone! Believe it or not, Perus, creeps, criminals, and other duboious characters want to get into your laptop. According to onguardonline.gov you should treat your laptop like cash.Whenever you cna protect your information with a password. Just a note your birthday is a bad password so are names of siblings pets street names or colors the more complex the password, the better,

  • @Grancie48 Whenever you download something, read the Terms of Agreement. These documents are going to be long. It is not fun to read them.Do it anyway. If you are not a fan of spyware or hackers, make sure u no what ure getting into. Pesky toolbars, viruses, spyware, hackers, and more can find way onto your computer...if the site youre donloading from is unfriendly get informed read the policies and stay safe.

  • @Grancie48 you've won, school articles, that youtube video you thought no one'd ever see, your blog, your "private poems. When applying for a job(or college!), your employers/dean of admissions WILL check Google for you. Solution: Google yourself. If you see that the first post is your Twitter and there's some stuff you might not want adults, employers, or deans to see, change your privacy settings. Better yet: Take it off entirely. Be in control of how you appear on the Internet!

  • @Grancie48 credit card number is on a website, the vendor can access it. Sure, you can buy a used car for $2000 bucks on Craigslist...as long as you dont mind getting scammed. User-based online markets like Ebay and Craigslist have minimal security -- so check user reviews and dont surrender your credit card number or personal information with talking with an adult first. Even if you have a common name, you are on google. you. Your twitter, your twitter, your facebook, your myspace contests

  • @Grancie48 what you let people searching for your name see! Know what you're letting people see...Be in control! To: Shannon - From: Restricted - Subj: ? - that's because they're creepy. If, for any reason, you feel weird something anyone has sent to you, tell an adult. Don't delete the message or block the person...yet. make sure you show the message to an adult who can help and take legal action if necessary. When shopping online, make sure the site's legit. Once your (or worse, your parent's)

  • @Grancie48 If you and your friend both add an app, the creator of the app can access things like your basic information, relationship status, and even your wall...unless you uncheck these boxes! Even if your name is uncommon, you might turn up when someones searches Facebook for frends. That means that person can see your profile picture, networks, location, and can even send you a message...Instead of having your picture available to people in Singapore, go to privacy settings search and control

  • @Grancie48 profile to private. Go to your privacy settings. Find this next to your name in the upper right hand corner of your screen and click the profile tab. Make sure all of the boxes read "Only Friends." If you don't: That video of you and your friends dancing like idiots? Yeah, everyone can see that. When adding apps: If possible, deselect the "access my information" box. If you can't, go to Privacy settings applications settings and uncheck all the boxes.

  • @Grancie48 If you don't want anyone else to see it, don't put it online. One it's online, there's no taking it back. In fact, avoid the whole mess altogether and don't take suggestive pictures. At all. Ever. Even if she's friends with 14 of your friends: don't add her if you don't know here. Use privacy settings, even the ones the seem like overkill. This means going through all of the settings. if you don't want a 40-year-old creepy guy from Poland reading about your recent breakup, set your

  • @DrMDK watch this.

  • @Grancie48 watch this.

  • Tip #3 seemed rather redundant....

  • 1:58 there is this one guy on facebook who found me and keeps sending me messages like "Where are you?" "who are you?" "How are you?" and stuff like that and it's really creeping me out

  • @MrFredweasleysgurl block them lol. but i guess u wouldnt have to start freaking out unless u blocked someone and they kept making new accounts to talk to u. that would be messed.. at that point i would delete ur own account or make it super private

  • @xbearcanrockx Hahaa, I did end up blocking the dude. it's been pretty good since that no creepers

  • @MrFredweasleysgurl well thats good i wonder where these random freaks come from. not too long ago a random prostitute tried to add me. i did not know her and she did not respond to my msg asking who she was or why she added me, i rejected. she was like a brunette and i dont know how she found me, we had no friends in common and it seems she's added more randoms when i check her profile each time.. must be one of those robots or just a random loser who is bored with their own lame life

  • @xbearcanrockx Haha, two girls like that have added my dad! he was looking for famville neigherbors (he'd add anyone) and this one girl IM'd him saying "We could have a friends with benifits sitch" he deleted her, but two days after that ANOTHER girl did the same thing!

  • @MrFredweasleysgurl holy.. wow. that would be a bit uncomfortable for sure... under what circumstances do u go around asking for random bangings online? its bad enough they exist in real life.. they gotta be really messed up to get enjoyment out of meaningless sex.

  • This really covered all the main points. Perfect to use to give teens an overview and start some good discussion.
