Damn you must not like speed. Displacement is always faster no matter which way you break it. You can turbo smaller engines all day, but you must know you can do the same thing to bigger engines. When it comes to straight line engine you want the biggest V8 you can find and some forced induction. Yes, I mean even from a roll as well. Look at the fastest cars in the world, and see what kind of engines they have.

Lol. Muscle cars can handle as well if that is what you are referring to. A little suspension work is all a car needs to turn. Best part is, the average 'tuner' is FWD as well, meaning that understeer is a whore in those things, even in high end racing. I know plenty about cars. Simple math is. More displacement = more power, longer body and wider wheelbase = better handling. The average tuner has nothing to compare to a Camaro or Trans Am in those categories.

Same goes for any tuner. Look at slalom runs for alot of cars before you speak. Yes, aftermarket suspension might be needed, but you'd need the same thing for most tuners to handle extremely well too. Don't fall into stereotypes before you do research. Look at drag coefficients and lateral G forces before you talk about American cars not being able to handle.

Just because the V8 happens to be the engine of choice for F1 cars today doesn't put Muscle Cars at the top of the pile. A lot of the perfromance from the best cars on a circuit doesn't come from the engine, but more from it's suspension, lightness and tyres. Heck, some people say 70% of an F1 car's performance comes from the tyres.

As far as handling goes, US cars are always behind in their respective categories. Even something like a Z06 that has high g's has no feedback or feeling at the limit.

also most F1 teams work around the car chassis,suspension, based on what tyres the car will be running, having said this IMO tire choice is very critical to making a fast car, regardless of engine, it all comes down to how well power is distributed throughout the car/tires. I agree even if it is ,V6,V8,it still doesnt put it at the top of the line..plus they are revving up to 20k rpm while most v8' rev to 5500+ to me thats jut a muscle car not fast on any road except for drag racing..
