I hate to sound stupid cuz someone probably has made this observation already but is this chick blind? If so, that makes this awesome rendition that much more impressive. I wish I could play this like her. It's a pity she can't read her rave reviews. I'm sure she has someone to read them to her.
1:09 Busted ! I used to take hours HOURS on a cheapie Radio Shack tape recorder trying to get this and others, Moonlight Sonata, etc. down without glitch. So frustrating when you get near the end and have to start over. Damned perfectionist DNA.
@JonBenait06 Haha! Good ear! Yes, Rachel knows she hit a couple of funny notes in this recording. There is a newer performance, made last July. Youtube is not letting me post the url, but search my channel for "The Endless Enigma (piano)" and you should find it. Thanks for the comment!
Totally gobsmacked!! (quaint old English term) Your interpretations of Emerson are peerless and amazing and brought a lump to the throat of this old prog rock fan. Technique plus the ability to capture the spirit and phrasing of each piece. Hope you keep doing more of Keith's stuff - how about The Three Fates and Realisation from Ars Longa Vita Brevis?
Rachel, Understanding and having the patience to listen to the complexity in Keith Emerson's music has alot to say about the people listening! The Fact that you are able to reproduce what he has created is an incredible achievement. Keith made it clear. He wanted to, for those who could, emotionally connect into his music through his experience. That was part of his musical GOALS! I pray Keith finds you, hearing that his life's work continues through a child, I believe he would be impressed!
You know I'm from nyc (Brooklyn) and like you a big fan of ELP, saw them at Madison Square Garden. I just cannot comprehend your playing!!!!! YOU ARE MONTEROUS!! and should have an agent taking you on auditions to play with people like elp or someone else that famous, please get famous and make your own records.
Keith is legendary, and mere words cannot describe how perfectly you have captured the depth and complexity of his music, and all without sheet music! Truly outstanding performance!! I hope he has been a positive influence on your life as he has mine. Hope you can meet and perform with him one day soon.
I had to sign up just to tell you how amazing i think you are and to thank you for 4 minutes and 38 seconds of pure enjoyment. I wish you the best always and thanks again. You are gifted.
Rachel you are EPIC. You flowed across that peice with the ease of Emerson himself. I've watched this video multiple times and it AMAZES me everytime. Your hand speed and fluidity is intense. I'm a drummer (aspiring to be a percussionist) and have been trying to play along to this.
Please never stop playing and sharing your immense gifts!
hello rachel, your talent is tremendous, but i'd like to add a big 'thank you' for posting that wonderful piece of piano music. it is a gift listening to you.
This is a gifted person. Brings tears to my eyes that someone can be so talanted and most of all play the music of my idol Keith Emerson. Check out the rest of her stuff
Wow, amazing talent and artistry and you certainly love the music of Keith Emerson (as do I) I saw Keith with Greg Lake April 8th in NYC then saw the Carl Palmer Band in the fall. Both shows excellent especially CP who still drums with the power of a 20 year old. As for you....Wow. Such skills. Hope you continue to nurture that talent.
WOW. Keith Emerson MUST be made aware of this amazingly talented girl. I know someone who knows his e-mail address. I'll send them the link to this video. AMAZING.
Bravo! I first heard Emerson play nearly 40 years ago while running a spotlight for a Toronto venue. Had never heard of the band before that night. Orders through my headphones to the contrary, my followspot never left Keith that entire show. Since then I've never missed an opportunity to hear Keith live.) Rachel you have a magnificent gift, and truly incredible musical taste and judgment. Please keep posting these wonderful videos, and may you have the career you so richly deserve. Well done!
Just saw this for the first time. Don't know anything about Rachel, except that she is at a genius level. None of my friends or I could ever nail this (and we had the sheet music) I kneel at Rachel's altar. Wish I could play with her myself. I have played with some of the best, but am blown away. If Frank Z was still alive, I would bet that he would have played with her. I have played with him, and he was very much a perfectionist and wanted people to perform sounds from the mind.
speechless!!an amazing brilliant blind young girl with keith emerson's heart and soul of piano playing!!just sit back and close your eyes, you're gonna hear and feel emerson's heart if you don't see this video instead
I am absolutely moved to tears with Rachel's performance of Keith's Fugue. A demanding piece by any standard. Rachel is a true prodigy and I very much hope all great things come to her through her playing. I only wish I could be there to see Rachel perform this for him. If I had composed this piece I would be the one feeling honoured!
I was blessed and lucky enough to have Rachel give me a private concert yesterday, and with a Korg Triton and Minimoog, Rachel was able to play the entire Endless Enigma suite. Back and forth between Organ, piano and moog sounds, it felt like 1972 over here. I even got to sing back-up to Rachel's lead vocals, quite unforgettable. Music of The Nice and ELP, effortlessly, on unfamiliar equipment...astounding experience!
I will keep sharing these posts as a true enthusiast would do. This young lady gives hope and inspiration to me and the more people that know her creative efforts the better. She reminds us quite strongly how great Keith Emerson is as well. Keep the posts coming and I will keep telling everyone the next great is here. Sincerely.....

Bravo to you, the music, and your love for KE. I am completely inspired with all the ELP music you have mastered w/o any vision. Wish you many, many fortunes, and BTW, has Keith contacted you yet?
@luckymanZoo No, Rachel has not been contacted by Mr. Emerson, though that would certainly be a thrill for her! We did get to see Emerson and Lake at their LA concert on April 25 and that was a great experience!
@12stringbabe Hey, Keeeith, she deserves a visit from you. She sees your music better than anyone, minus the on-stage behavior. Bring Greg and Carl if you can. Maybe Carl can arrange something with his organization.
@12stringbabe I'm speechless. I saw Keith and Greg as well on April 11th here in the Boston area. Did they have a Q&A with the audience in LA as well? It would have been phenomenal to have Rachel ask to come up on stage and play a piece for Keith right then and there!
@otbwebmaster Thank you! Yes, they did have the Q&A in LA and Rachel's hand immediately went up. Unfortunately, we were in the balcony and no one was up there to take her question. I asked her afterward what she had wanted to ask, and it was a question regarding his playing technique. Perhaps one day she will get the chance to ask him in person - crossing our fingers here!
@12stringbabe I know what a disappointment. i was at the LA show with my dad and I too was on the upper level. wanted to ask Greg something about Tarkus. But that was a fantastic show!
@12stringbabe you know, i was on Greg Lake's website recently and he said he and Keith are to tour the states again next year. Also, on occasion, Keith sits in with local jazz bands in Los Angeles. There could be an opportunity then to come and say hi.
@SteveBrant55 Yes, we heard from Keith's partner about a month ago and learned that he does indeed know of Rachel. Hoping to get together when he returns to the states after the High Voltage Festival :) Exciting stuff!!
@12stringbabe I'm wishing very hard for the day Rachel meets and plays together with ELP. I'd fly immediately here from Brazil just to see her playing along with Keith, Greg and Carl. I'm thrilled just to imagine that day. Rachel is a bless for us who enjoy music at its best. Bravo Maestrina !!!
Beautiful, fantastic, awesome. This is the first time I've heard the Endless Enigma Part 2 played on the piano - simply amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing you at the local concert hall, playing with the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Extremely well done! The Fugue was incredibly well performed! Also I like the way you play and improvise outside the boundries on Endless Enigma Part 2.
