  • Rule of thumb, if you own a modern computer that was built from 2002 to now, chances are you own a 32-bit HDD, so you might have to purchase a 16-bit HDD to operate old style OSes, such as Windows98 (I made the mistake to dualboot it on a 32-bit HDD and it wiped my computer's drivers to where it couldn't read my HDD, I still had my files on it, but it wouldn't read for nothing)

  • the windows installer only works for the ubuntu range and there one for lunex mint 12

  • do yo uhave to do all the steps or can you just install ubuntu with wubi a nd leave it at that

  • why do you need dual OS?

  • so how do you delete partations

  • i have windows 7 and i want to install windows xp , is there a way to install xp witth windows 7 without the need to any program (just with the windows dvd) ?

  • @hero2188 If you want to "start fresh" and delete all information then format the HD and then install XP with the disk.

  • Start using Opera Browser instead of this firefox nonsense.

  • will this work if i just put in the windows cd...format the drive which i dont use and install windows in it...

  • CAN I USE THIS TO TURN WINDOWS XP INTO VISTA?

    REPLY ASAP PLEASE..

    TNX

  • @geckchaznica15 you can't turn xp into vista... but if you mean dual boot, then yes you can...

  • @joonas2345 ohh.. ok..

    another question..

when i turned the OS of my pc into vista.. can i use things that requires vista like pc joystick/controllers??

    ..

i'll send you the specs of my pc so you can tell if i can install dual core into my pc.. tnx

  • @geckchaznica15 If you have more than 1Ghz CPU and more than 256Mb RAM, You'll be fine

  • @keith12161 When your computer is logging in, go to the bios setup and under startup you want to select your slave drive first. Then save and reboot, if you did it right then it will ask which os to boot from

  • Also with windows 7, you shouldn't have to mess around with the bios, the cd will launch from the desktop.

  • ISO Recorder is not required for Windows 7. Just click on the .ISO file then click on Open>Windows disk image burner on the ribbon menu above.

  • it also ses verifying dmi pool data like urs

  • omg ur bios thing looks exactly like my old computer from 2006. i feel special now.

  • thanks for the tips man

  • i have 2 HDDs and one has windows xp and one has vista what do i need to do to be able to chose what HDD to boot from?

  • virtual box first

  • thanks

  • Okay so I like Windows, I want to start getting into Linux as apparently it helps you learn about computers, I don't know what I'm doing in prep for this video can anyone help me?! :(

Much appreciated and big thanks in advance!

  • Just had one question... i m confused.... CAN YOU USE JUST ONE OF THOSE METHODS, OR DO YOU NEED TO USE ALL THREE OF THEM TO MAKE IT WORK? i am still learning so just wanna make sure before i mess wit my PC...thanx!

  • @1tirth you can just use one if you want but if you want to try all of them knock youself out just be careful with it you might screw up your computer

  • I have a question for u can u use a USB flash drive if u don't have a CD!

  • @christopher21667 I m pretty sure you can use a USB Flash drive... If you do that, it will say something else in the boot windows instead of "Boot From DVD/CD".... still make sure that from another source such as Wikipedia or another YouTube vid...i m not a professional but this is my opinion!

  • @1tirth I have no idea why i wrote the last sentence! lol

  • great video

  • Is it necessary to partition your hard drive, or can you simply share the memory space between the operating systems?

  • Can anyone tell me ?? I just installed windows xp ... I was using windows 7and now when i installed xp in my computer.. I am unable to boot my windows 7..; I have not deleted anything during the installation process of windows.. Please I am really in troublle... Hope anyone would reply.....

  • @AurkStar ha ha ha ha!! same happen to me. i install 8 but can't use my Xp anymore, i can still see the forders in my second partition and programs but can't use any of them, so i reformat the whole thing and install windows 8.

  • Will this work on windows 8 developer preview?

  • If I already have 7 installed, could I install vista on a separate partition? Thanks ;D

  • Does this leave the OS that you already have, alone?

  • don't it use GAG it will kill your MBR. thumbs up to get this comment noticed

  • @MrCyberpixel So what boot manager do you recommend?

  • @AvocadoAtrocity I like iboot or Multibeast.

  • hey dude thanks for this !

if u need any game just tell me i'll give it to u for free

  • I have a Panasonic SPX800P that they no longer make as it is DVCpro50 and HD is all they make now.

Anyway, I own 3 of them and they all shoot native 720/480p video.

I can also make a mode change and shoot 480i if I want to but I never do, I supply DVDs shot with these cams at 480p and on a 480i TV set they play as progressive mimic'd. No separate 1/60 frames, it's amazing.

All my web videos are made shooting these cams at 480p that I up-rez to 1280/720p as DVCpro50

  • will i be able to do this with chrome os

  • MY 500GB HDD IS ALREADY PARTITIONED,

i have ubuntu 11.04 on a disc ready to install...

do i still have to go through this process?

please thumbs up so this can be answered

  • @InfliktionDrums you don't, ubuntu will do this for you

  • @thenighthawk63 its already partitioned, what do you mean ubuntu will do this for me? it will partition its for a second time? is it possible to undo a partition if that is the case

  • @InfliktionDrums

OK so you can do 1 of two things. If you want to install ubuntu with the partition you made, you can boot up with the cd and select install. Instead of selecting your C: drive to install it to; select the new drive that you made with the partition. The second thing that you could do is something that i recommend. You could go to wubi-installer(DOT)org and download Wubi. This will create a partition for you and install ubuntu on it.

  • @thenighthawk63 thanks. i just made an ass out of myself, i claim i know a thing or two about computers until it comes to something like dual booting

  • @InfliktionDrums Lol i do that all the time!!! :p

  • @InfliktionDrums no you don't. i have done it before too just be careful! i did the same thing and installed ubuntu on the wrong partition and over wrote my windows info

  • @InfliktionDrums If you have unpartitioned space, just tell the other OS to install to that.

  • i have already installed xp over in windwos 7 but i don't know how to use it as my opearting system, i mean the xp i want xp my operating system

  • Wear your headset and play this video in 5:12. Your left ear will be learning a few things.

  • What about virtual box?

  • 29 people broke their computers

  • @videomakingstudio yeah...um i didnt XD

  • @MrDirtbikemaniac then go break it

  • Or you can just call your technician and let him/her do it so that you wont break your computer.

  • SO guys, heres my problem, i have 2 disks on with XP and in the other i installed windows 7, i was expecting to see the DUAL boot screen , so i can select XP for Work or 7 for gaming. But it boots directly to XP. what can i do to get the dual boot screen? TKs

  • @WolfSentry you need to set the hdd settings right in bios so it gives you that option when u boot.

theres a part in this video that shows u how, pay close attention. hope this helps

  • @MrDirtbikemaniac I recently installed windows xp on my windows 7 and I can dual boot as a default windows 7, u have to participate and then search a lot to make a good amd safe dual boot,,, and believe me ive made it by myself, I have not seen any same as the thing I do...im telling you that just to understand how difficult was that I have done... sooo? u still think im a noob?

  • can i install both xp and 7 at the same time sir??coz some games don't run on xp but run on windows7 and vice versa?? thnx//

  • @Mchlngy4 All isos.

  • You can also use imgburn to burn the iso.

  • Instead of downloading wubi, you can download and burn ubuntu into a cd. the cd contains the wubi installer

  • Hey i got another quetion!

I cant open my boot menu? My boot menu button is esc but it wont open and i got all my f1- f12 some fast buttons for media playing so they wont work! how to get boot menu open when im useing windows 7 or how to make f1 -f12 buttons normal??

  • @Deza901 press (printscreen) arfer u boot up then do a restart. after this press (DEL) key. or use F2 key.

  • @Deza901 If your talking about when you first start your computer, and you keyborad doesn't respond all the time then follow this. When u boot up, go into BIOS/CMOS Setup, and try to find 'support for Legacy USB devices' (or something like that), and tick/ press yes on it, and that will proebly work. :)

  • @lister101 I dont understand :/

  • @Deza901 Oh :/ Sorry, can't explain in a different way :(

  • does i need to do partition if i use wubi?

  • @Deza901 No

  • Is there any way to back up all info already on the computer without using a disk (I only will use the ubuntu setup) so that I can easily restore it all if something goes wrong?

  • You forgot to show the easiest way. Buy an extra hard drive (internal or external) and install it to that instead of partitioning. But good vid.

  • im just curious, why dont you use ubuntu live cd for partitioning (it has also gparted) and why GAG, standard menu of windows should take care aswell or you could use Grub2 ? is it preference or any technical specifications?

  • hi I have dual operation system (Vista and Windows 7) how do install ubuntu with out make other partition Is this posible tanks

  • Thumbs up if you noticed there is no 480p but there is 720p.

  • Tinkernut was changed to 'Tinkernerdz'

  • Dual booting is so outdated in this day and age of virtual machines....sigh. Heck, even a netbook with an Atom processor will have no problem to run Linux inside an OS like Windows 7 ultimate and trust me, I know.

  • @vlptr its not the same performance, I ve 3 Os and, about 20 virtual OS, trust me, I know what I say :D

  • Can i install Ubuntu and delete windows xp?

  • @Zinthex yup, just screw up. lol

  • Comment removed

  • @oledcrt

Thank you i just did and had to get a new xp disk lol. But I did get about 70GB HDD space back.

  • @Zinthex if you installed it with wubi, No, you can need to reinsall it, but not with wubi, you need to install it, normal like windows, first of all, try to backup your files, and if you dont want anything, you can install it, with a ubuntu CD, if you want to backup your apps etc. you can use any backup software over, "software center" in ubuntu

  • @Xreals

You know what fuck it im staying with windows xp.

  • I see that it took you 3 days to download the Ubuntu

  • couple of hours to wait for partitioning,, too longgggggggg

  • can i also just create an empty partition and put the other OS on that one? Because in the vid you're doing all crazy stuff with Gparted and all, but within Win7 you can also create a new partition. Is that possible or will it kill my pc? :P

  • @Thompsongast Yeah, you should be okay to do it with the Windows Built in one also. It doesn't really matter either way.

  • @MarioInATopHat

thanks for the feedback, but it won´t work for me anyway, i already have 4 partitions. Too bad 2 are factory built-in Windows/PackardBell security, 1 for my system and 1 for my files. I wanted to have another one for XP or Vista to be able to play Fallout 3, but i already found a few tricks to get it working in Win7 :D

  • WARNING: Please download an ISO image of an operating system and burn it to a CD before burning GParted. Why?

What happens if you don't have a CD of an operating system?

You will stay with GParted forever!

    (Thumbs up if you agree)

  • can i have dual versions of windows xp 32bit and windows xp 64bit operating systems. how do i do this

  • This also works with WINXP.

  • If you install Ubuntu and you had Windows, when you boot up Grub 2 will be there so no need for other software :D

  • @Pengocent Your verdict does not match dual booting. Please attempt next time to consider posting a comment that matches what these videos say. And another thing, please do not post browser verdicts in front of other people, since they will think that their browser may have that add-on, so please consider next time posting something that matches the video that you are watching.

  • Doesent work on windows7?

  • @jopper231 it works on windows7

  • Thnx

  • TY SO MUCH,

<Is running GameSalad on a previously PC only computer

  • its not working for mee my screen get with or fuck up? i use windows vista 64 bit

  • whats the difference between wubi and a manual partition like gparted.. tanks..

  • i really love your video but dont wanna like it because my friends on youtube will see it, well i dont want them to see because when i do this i wanna show off and i dont want them to know that this is how i learnt it

  • I installed Ubuntu and on the dual boot screen I selected Ubuntu and I am brought to a command line. 'grub >' is what it looks like. I tried to type 'boot', but it says i need to load the kernel. I am not familiar with ubuntu command line at all so help would be appreciated

  • @floriandubois No. You can't run WUBI (WINDOWS Ubuntu Installer) on Mac.

  • Does this work with WIN7 32 & 64bit?

  • @RetroKingdomrules Should be yes, as long as you haven't installed Linux w/ GRUB on your MBR, or else Windows will wipe GRUB and you can't boot into Linux. If you haven't got GRUB on your MBR, but in a boot partition, you're fine.

  • @RetroKingdomrules yep mine is 32 bit and it work PERFECT

    but no sound on ubuntu

  • thanks for this video its so much of help

    i have one question though

if i would like to have fedora instead of ubunto

i think wubi wont make it for me right? so any tips that will make installing fedora 14 easier?

    thanks once again

  • thanks.

  • Can use wubi on mac?

  • @silentwrath1 For windows 7 and XP its pretty much the same process that he did in the computer. You can just install the OS that you want on the partition that you made using GParted or whatever method that you used instead of Linux. And you don't have to reinstall windows, he was just doing that for purposes of demonstration.

  • took a little tinkering but i got it toworks

  • hi my laptop crashed and when i try to go into diagnostics it comes up operating system not found and when i try the alt multitap F10 it comes up HDD recovery failed and i try changing the harddrive and the same thing happens please have u any pointers or could some one point me in the right direction its a acer 5738 Thanks

  • @animefreak873 Thanks!
