I wear the Cdn Mechant Navy Pin, inside my poppy, that "Randy" gave me for helping them when they stood a hunger strike on Parliament Hill. MANY have asked me about it and I pass on the story of their odds of survival in WWII. I had the honor of meeting such a Merchant Marine who recognized the pin. I wear the poppy from November 1 thru to the end of the week of November 11th. I dine at my local Legion once a month.....and you?
What do you mean "not everybody can make it out to a local Legion."?
It's Remembrance Day, and the only people I can see that wouldn't be able to make it out are people who are sick in bed or hospital, working in one of those terrible jobs that can't close for 1 day, or serving overseas (I'm sure there are others, so don't quote them as the only ones.) If you don't go to a remembrance day service, stop being lazy, find a local Legion, even if you don't know anybody, swallow your pride, and go.
