Well if I can contribute to the argument of new vs old then all I have to say is that the only Anthrax albums I own is "Attack of the Killer B's" and "Sound of White Noise" and personally I tend to be listening to SoWN a lot more. they were about having fun in their heyday:
belladonna with an indian head-dress on and the Not Man. that was a band in their peak. when they tried to become more serious i think a lot of heart was torn from the band.
anthrax with john bush was a modern and original metal band....they had such a big potencial, unfortunately the departure of dan spitz caused the band a bigger wound that they could admit....pisses me off john bush isn't singing with them anymore
just compare sound of white noise with vol. 8: the threat is real. (dan was with them during the writings (and some recordings) of stomp 442). you can hear how his writing is missing.. even though they got their act together with rob on we've come for you all. I'm actually looking forward to hearing the new album.. was it dated to this years may? am I right? well. long live anthrax!!
Dan added a high level of musicianship with his guitaring and I think his departure may have been due to Ian taking up more leads on this album. Dan missed Joe and felt that they only got John because Hetfield originally wanted him.

I remember there was a lot of controversy amongst Pantera fans about something Dan had said about Dimebag's solos on Stomp 442 being based on stuff Dan composed.
As much as I love the years with joey i can understand why they had to let him go. Times were changing and Bush gave them a gritty edge they never had. Both era's were good i don't see why people argue over who was better they both kick ass.
I remember Anthrax as a somewhat comical group, playing tight and original. What happened mates? Just became one of many we have to play for the money groups, look for a decent job plz.
I love this album very fucking much! I was 10 when I heard it for the first time. "Only" (as well as other singles) is one of the most memorable songs of 90s for me :)
as a 23 year anthrax fan, i could easily become overpowered by nostalgic yearning for among the living, or armed and dangerous, both are metal masterpieces worthy of their place in lore, but this album, this album..in my humble opinion was anthraxes finest moment, they gre up here, they became a band that wasnt funny, and wore shorts and hair gel...their finest moment
I've been a fan for about 20 years as well, and while the Joey albums were a huge part of my metal formative years, it's this album that I seem to listen to most nowadays. Bush gave them a dirtier edge that they never had before, and I don't think they would have weathered the 90's as well with Joe.
man bush has his good points and bad points. as did all of anthrax's albums. so it fit well. i saw anthrax with cannibal corpse gwar and the misfits in ny at the roseland. anthrax had a serious fucking circle pit going.
I bought this album as soon as it came out-I was a big Anthrax fan, but I got bored with it quickly. I was 13 then-now I LOVE it. It has some great songwriting. Hell, enen Danny sounds really mature and tastefull on the solos.
The Sound of White Noise was a monument to craziness. It signified Anthrax going to shit. It signified John Bush singing the weakest material he'd ever sung. BUT IT WAS THE BEST ANTHRAX ALBUM EVER. Joey Belladonna was just learning how to sing on Persistence of Time. Bush killed him. But Anthrax never figure out how to use John's voice. Joey was a better fit.

yeah the seeds were sown in pov it was a powerful and emotive album, but joey, im afraid couldnt go where he was needed, joey was great live, and had the 80s thrash screech down to a t, but once jb joined up anthrax leapt a level and produced soundof white noise, a monster of an album, unfortunately anthrax never really got the praise they deserved cos of the beach bum, hawainn shorts look of the 80s but, this album is just....well its, its there

been an anthrax lover since 85, and adored every album, even one or 2 that looking back werent so great, but for me this album is when anthrax became serious, this album snarls and spits at you, its harsh, its real, its im afraid anthrax without belladonna, and its far b etter in almost every way

id say they were getting more serious on Persistence of Time. It got more of an edge to it when John bush joined.Persistance and White Noise are two fave Anthrax albums. I dig the Bush stuff more

NO WAY. J Bush is by far superior to the prancing headress wearing embarassing Belladonna, who is only good at high pitched screams. Anthrax messed up big time the way they treated Bush & lost one of the all time best metal vocalists aswell as a lot of respect.They should have built upon the success of WCFYA.We all make mistakes, eh?

Well if I can contribute to the argument of new vs old then all I have to say is that the only Anthrax albums I own is "Attack of the Killer B's" and "Sound of White Noise" and personally I tend to be listening to SoWN a lot more. I know I'm not really a die hard fan but I love SoWN, brilliant album!

I've been an Anthrax fan since before Belladonna and Bush and these guys still kick ass!! I can't count the number of times I've seen these guys throughout the years...Charlie and Scottie ARE Antrhrax! Bush contributed to some of the best Anthrax albums in my opinion, and I have EVERY one of them. I CAN'T wait for another album, whoever the singer may be!!

i only saw anthrax once. bush was with them.
they were good, but not great. i was too young to see them with belladonna.
they were about having fun in their heyday:
belladonna with an indian head-dress on and the Not Man. that was a band in their peak. when they tried to become more serious i think a lot of heart was torn from the band.

just compare sound of white noise with vol. 8: the threat is real. (dan was with them during the writings (and some recordings) of stomp 442). you can hear how his writing is missing.. even though they got their act together with rob on we've come for you all. Dan added a high level of musicianship with his guitaring and I think his departure may have been due to Ian taking up more leads on this album. Dan missed Joe and felt that they only got John because Hetfield originally wanted him.
Did Dan ever write lyrics?
I remember there was a lot of controversy amongst Pantera fans about something Dan had said about Dimebag's solos on Stomp 442 being based on stuff Dan composed.

As much as I love the years with joey i can understand why they had to let him go. Times were changing and Bush gave them a gritty edge they never had. Both era's were good i don't see why people argue over who was better they both kick ass.

as a 23 year anthrax fan, i could easily become overpowered by nostalgic yearning for among the living, or armed and dangerous, both are metal masterpieces worthy of their place in lore, but this album, this album..in my humble opinion was anthraxes finest moment, they gre up here, they became a band that wasnt funny, and wore shorts and hair gel...their finest moment

I've been a fan for about 20 years as well, and while the Joey albums were a huge part of my metal formative years, it's this album that I seem to listen to most nowadays. Bush gave them a dirtier edge that they never had before, and I don't think they would have weathered the 90's as well with Joe.

man bush has his good points and bad points. as did all of anthrax's albums. so it fit well. i saw anthrax with cannibal corpse gwar and the misfits in ny at the roseland. anthrax had a serious fucking circle pit going.

I bought this album as soon as it came out-I was a big Anthrax fan, but I got bored with it quickly. I was 13 then-now I LOVE it. It has some great songwriting. Hell, enen Danny sounds really mature and tastefull on the solos.

The Sound of White Noise was a monument to craziness. It signified Anthrax going to shit. It signified John Bush singing the weakest material he'd ever sung. BUT IT WAS THE BEST ANTHRAX ALBUM EVER. Joey Belladonna was just learning how to sing on Persistence of Time. Bush killed him. But Anthrax never figure out how to use John's voice. Joey was a better fit.
