Yeah, that's the story in a lot of places I've been to... we were lucky in the respect that a combination of grassroots efforts and a receptive city council got it done right here in Hammond. Also, the shop we have was started by my best friend, who really risked his neck by starting a business... we're very fortunate and definitely don't take it for granted. It took us a long time to get the legal stuff taken care of, but a lot of time and work paid off immensely! Cheers & best o luck, wtf!

Sorry you're stuck with a Zumie's too. That company (along with some similar ones) do more to damage modern skate culture than anything... I say that because a good skate shop is the center of most healthy skate communities, whereas the big chains strictly treat skateboarding as a commodity, not something that a lot of us swear our lives to. Yeah, DLX is sick! I try to stop by it when I'm visiting SF but usually spend more time at Deluxe offices. A lot of homies there, my favorite company by far.
