Those are, in fact, ginko trees. The trees left now are all male trees. The female trees had to be cut because of the awful odor. I am a native Roman and now live in Tennessee. We miss it. There's no place like Rome.

It is beautiful - I was there a few months ago - but the Floyd Co. animal shelter puts down 50-60 animals per week; Rome needs a spay-neuter campaign.

My husband and I live in Powder Springs and every July we go to our Family reunion in cedartown--that will be next weekend. I believe we go right through Rome to get there--I think--Jamie

I was born in Rome. I still have family up there but I haven't been since my granny died. I miss it alot, even the paper mill smell. LOL. Some of my relatives are buried in the Kennebrew Cemetery. I have been researching my family roots and hit a wall. Let me know if you know or have heard anything about the Akridge's or Kinnebrew's. Thanks for the video, it felt as if I was there for a moment.

Thanks, my great-grandfather was a probate judge, his office was right downtown and he was buried on Myrtle Hill. I think the loc was in your video, right next to the masonic lodge. His former home, where my grandfather was born, is now Jenkins funeral home.

We are near the western border of the state, about halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga. I am surrounded by the Alabama border to the west, Calhoun to the north, Cartersville and Cedartown to the south. (About 75 miles from Atl and Chatt)

Our city was named after yours because we have seven hills. Before World War II, we received a statue of Romulus and Remus and the Capitoline Wolf from the Italian government (Mussolini), and it still stands in front of our City Hall.

I spent my honeymoon in ROME!!! It was really funny to tell people that we went to Rome on our honeymoon! We didn't have any time since we were being redeployed to Camp LeJeune right after our wedding---anyway you have a lovely city and it really has gotten much prettier since 1967! :)

A genko leaf has veins that do not intersect. The veins fan out from the stem without crossing each other. this is very rare in leaves. thanks, bmack
