This is kind of a lame fight. Neither the mongoose nor the cobra really have enough room to dance so instead the mongoose simply grabs the cobra's head and the handler makes her let go. The National Geographic video is a lot better in that respect.

Mongooses are immune to cobra venom. The fact that they can beat cobras has nothing to do with their speed... it has to do with the fact that they are highly resistant/ immune to the cobras venom. I can easily post articles on this and anyone who says that the mongoose is winning because of its speed has no idea what they are talking about. Mongooses are highly resistant to neuro-toxic venoms, like the cobras venom. Speed has nothing to do with it.

yeah, i heard they done that overseas, but I never really saw it before. Thanx uploader, now I can say I have. The mongoose is the superior predator over the snake. Of course the mongoose would struggle against say a coyote or panther but snakes are easy prey for a mongoose to say tha least. Yes, a cotton mouth or rattlesnake could easily take them out of their game but mongooses are extremely fast and able to evade if necessary. Hopefully without the company of a venom bite.

Kipling's book, Rikki-tikki-tavi. a really great book, in my opinion, suitable for every age. but this fight is unfair, considering that the cobra is venomous while the mongoose is not, and the mongoose probably got injured after the cobra's attack, despite what the info says.

yes it can die if it gets bitten, but like the cobra, the mongoose has very fast reflexes, and doesn't turn its back on the cobra. that it is how it's able to not get bitten by the snake.
