  • how old is the ladder truck? Open cab on the ladder.Poor guy in the back of tiller. It must suck when it's cold or raining and snowing.

  • @wannabenj 1989 tractor & tiller. Now a reserve. You just can't kill a Maxim.

  • My town's department still has a front-line Maxim 100' rear-mount aerial from '79. She's set to be retired next year and replaced with a Sutphen Quint. There aren't many original Maxim's left.

  • MAXIM was one of the TOP BUILDERS!!! Along with AHRENSFOX, HAHN,I could go on & on. These were truly the claasic,s.When I was akid you cuold tell the make & model form a 1/2 mile away!!

  • L5s new Smeal tiller is at the dealer...this rig should be a spare in a few weeks. Its the last full Maxim tiller in service in the city. The other two, L2 and a spare are both refurbs with tractors from Spartan and EONE. It will leave only two Maxims, in frontline service, both of which are pumpers. Three more...two S models and one F model, as spares.

  • Sweet love the ladder

  • i am sorry bu tthe only good part of that ladder is the Q and even the look of the ladder takes a lot away from the nice Q

  • @25Yankeesfan it's not even a q...

  • @Thunderbolt505 2 in the grille, that thing on top that looks like one, it an older model Opticom.

  • yeas, this ladder is still front line (as old as it is), and i believe UMass EMS now uses this station

  • yes EMS now uses the building and Ladder 5 is getting a new truck soon they just ordered a Smeal tiller

  • Those bays are a really tight fit. Hope they are drive through and they dont have to back into them.

  • was that recently taken? I hope that ladder truck wasn't first responder.

  • this is providence street worcester mass i can walk there from my house and be there in like 3-5 minutes thats how close it is but they dont keep the engines at this one anymore the moved it to sutton

  • MAXIM!?

  • @51ENGINE51

sure as hell looks like one

  • Well, I hope there isn't a serious breach in the locality'r fire protection now! And I hope the local historic society has sprung into action to protect the building from decay and find a new usage!

  • Nice ladder truck! thats a classic!

  • ive gone to lunch in full turn-out gear. mostly cause it was snowing and i was cold as hell. even funnier was we got tapped just as we paid. i have did eat my big mac :[

  • what kind of ladder is that

  • Thats an old ladder!

  • Wow!! Dont see many of those nowadays! Thats an awesome capture!

  • wow truck used to have a rear mout like that truck with 3 person 2dr cab

  • awsome ladder

  • That's too bad they closed this station just because it was old. I think they're are better reasons to build a new station than just to keep up with the Jone's....Hopefully the local towns Historic Society and or a concerned citizen will make sure the building is preserved by turning it into something the neighborhood can use!!

  • This station is now closed

  • that truck is a classic..

  • It would have been a better video if those two retards would have shut there mouth's

  • maxim are the shit

  • The tiller truck is a Maxim.... a classic truck.

  • nice i never have seen a tiller truck in servis with no cab on the back and seen a firefighter on the back thats cool.

  • me either!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My town has one ladder truck, hence not hook and ladder because it's all on one chassie

  • Hook and Ladder designation has nothing to do with being a tiller truck...H&L is an old designation for when Ladders first came about they carried hooks and ladders...

  • Holy shit its a Maxim tiller with an open tiller seat. I think I just filled the cup. Beautiful rig, anyone know where it is currently, my friend collects trucks.

  • truck is still in service with the Worcester fire department

  • 100 Providence St with E12 for the next few months then its moving to McKeon Rd with E15

  • I like the comment the prick in the background about full bunker gear

  • I love the old Maxim tiller. I love my Maxim fire engine. I've driven alot of engines but my Maxim is the best. Even if she is a 65 model.

  • I love the jerkoff in the background with the comment about gettin lunch in bunkers...There's one born every minute.

  • this video takes on new meaning if they are truely gonna close the Rock, its a stupid decision that i think might get overturned because the neighbohood is PISSED and for good reason, fires all the time up there, my neighbor works on Ladder 5 and im on an adjacent town and those two companies dont spend a lot of time in house

  • I heard that rumor too...i mean it would suck but it might have to be done so ladder 5 can get a new rig and then the rescue is going back to downtown, so that leaves the big firehouse with only engine 15

  • thats one of the most classic ladders ever...sorry

  • maxim made the best looking trucks period.

  • yo when waz this made. because i can name like, five fire safety violations that the tiller broke by just looking at it. this has to be like, late 80's early 90's. i dont think they even make that kinda ladder truck anymore

  • 1989 maxim

  • The video was made in the last 6 months or so because Engine 1 was disbanded in 2007 and their rig was reassigned to Engine 12. The tiller was delivered brand new in 1989....it has manually operated outriggers too!

  • And what "fire safety violations" would those be?

That would be a correct assumption as well that they don't make em like that anymore, because Maxim isn't in the business anymore.

I guarantee that that they have more problems with their newest apparatus than they do with that old Maxim beast. They dont make em like they used to.

  • lol u have a point there

  • I think Ladder 5 is the last piece of Maxim S apparatus on the active duty roster for Worcester.

  • Yes it is...E22 (former E12) and E27 (former E7, before that E4 and E14) are both S models and currently spares. Those 3 S models were delivered in 1989 and I believe the last ones before that were 1971.

  • that looks ridiculously dangerous

  • wow, the tillerman has no rollover protection!

  • As if one of them little boxs would do much good anyway.

  • thats what I was thinking! Im sure he is buckled in too! ;)

  • As far as fire load goes they are very busy. There have been 8 serious fires (all hands or multiples) in the past week and I think L5 has made an appearance at every one. The city in general has been quite busy lately. I would estimate around 40 serious fires in the past 3 months or so. I will post L5s 2007 runs when I get them.

  • Ladders in Worcester are generally fairly slow compared to other cities because they do not respond to car fires, dumpster fires, single family automatic alarms or auto accidents unless filling in or extrication. Id call L5s yearly responses in the low 1000s (in years past only around 700). The run assignments changed a few years ago and they cover a lot more area now.

  • Since Ladder 5 is the busiest in Worcester I'd say they probably get several calls a day.

I've also noticed where the electronic siren is, it's on the front bumper.

  • ladder 5 is not the busiest truck in the city ladder 3 is

  • how many calls does Ladder 5 get a day?

  • Love that Maxim's engine! Where's the electronic siren?

  • Great video! What firehouse in Worcester is that Maxim TDA housed in?

  • Providence St

  • I think thats a Federal model 28 siren. The rig was delivered in 1989 with an only an electronic siren. Sometime in the past year or so a Lt. assigned to L5 had the mechanical siren and LED warning lights installed. They are 2nd on the list of Ladder Cos to get a new rig behind Ladder 2, which runs a refurbished 1974 Maxim 100' tiller with a 1991 Spartan tractor.

  • yea springfield L-3 is a 71 maxim TDA

  • oh hell yeah the old style Q

  • i believe Springfield Mass also has one..

  • there on a trunked system you need like a digital scanner to get them..idk what it is

  • anyone know the frequency for worcester?

  • ladder 5s an 89' maxim and engine 12 is a 99 kme...they also used to have a maxim until october of this year when engine 1 was disbanded and they recieved their rig...ladder 5s busy and sees a lot of fire duty because their in the middle of the city

  • That ladder front line??

  • Yes and It is always ladding the building at every house fire

  • what make and year is that tiller
