The Simpson's Movie was an idea that satirized the amount of information that Stephen King gave out about the book. He's written essays about this as a "failed attempt at a novel" and then he actually looked at it again and fixed it and then finally released it. So it's okay to see real life situation played out in movies (war, murder...), but if real footage is used it's suddenly offensive? i know steven is a great writer, and i shouldnt judge because i havent read the book or watched any movie, but how does new air get in, and how does toxic gases/smoke get out, and would its become filled with moisture and just everythign die from heat, and all the other stuff i said...idk...im sure its a good story..

Then it looks like some sort of commercial ad for a laptop that's advertising how far their network reaches, and only the guy with the leading brand name laptop was able to get through the barrier. Of course... real trailers change the plot of real films all the time so... this may be a moot complaint.
I'm reading the book now. It's AWESOME!!! I'm almost done and it's funny that Spielberg is gonna direct this movie because when I read it, I had said as much that this is a movie that S. Spielberg has GOT to do.
if they ever do make a movie out of the book (not including The Simpson's Movie), then they should put the song that starts at 0:50 as the main trailer! :)
There is no way there can be a movie about this, the complexity between the characters, the feel of the book, the feel of the events, the linking, the atmosphere, it's just wayy too much to illustrate properly and in a respectable way in 1h30-2h30 without completely disgracing the sheer epicness of this amazing novel.
@soullegend0 I totally agree. Even with talks of making a TV series directed by Steven Speilberg i'm still not bowled over. It's better idea than a movie because they can spend more time on every aspect of the book but they'll never capture the feeling of being involved. In the book theres more inner-thoughts than actual dialect. You get to read what people are thinking aswell as saying. The only way to recreat that is to have a narrative or actually record the thoughts to audio which is corny
@jayessmc Or Get a director who can get these thoughts and emotions sufficiently conveyed through his cast members expressions. this, I think, is very much plausible however King may not be the best suited for this.
@JollyRoger01 Yeah I agree that some of the thoughts can be conveyed through facial expressions but some of the deeper ones just can't, unless the actor is gunna stand there for five minutes with a dumb twisted look on his/her face. I still think it will be worth watching and a damn good show, but like most people who read the book first I think i've set myself up for dissapointment.
Also when is the mini series going to air i loved the book and i cant wait to see it. oh and the much anticipated Doland's Cadilac is coming to block buster on febuary 26 th . i wish that under the dome was directed by mick garrison he did the newest version of the shining.
wow it was a good book. but it was very religious and it had aliens . it was a good book but unless you liked the stand you may not like this. It was a lot like the stand in many ways it starts of with a catastrophe then the people here voices of "god" and have visions of the future.Then it goes from bad to worse and at the end just like in the stand their is a gigantic explosion and almost everyone in the town dies. You have to read the book to see how it ends.

@ThleTruth I don't want to spoil too much, so I'll say this. Air comes in, but very, very slowly. Gases and heat actually become a major plot point.
