i want to get your logitech speakers for my xbox. i use my xbox with hdmi but the speakers get optical audio?

You shouldn't keep your subwoofer on the carpet, it's down fireing so keep it on a hard surface.

how did you connect the z506 logitech speakers to your xbox becaus it takes the red and white wire and they are close to the yellow and the hd tv componen cables so you cant extend the wire that far????

Can you please tell me how you hooked your speakers up to your tv? I tried to hook it up with the green cable but I got no audio from the rear speakers, just static.

@jgrosse5554 You need to use a 3.5mm to stereo converter to hook up to the tv's headphone jack, then the system will upconvert the stereo to surround sound and use all five of the speakers.

I also did find a converter that logitech makes called the Logitech 5.1 Game Console Adapter. It connects all the speakers like you would to a sound card with the yellow black and green cables then on the other end there is an rca connection. Would that work?

@jgrosse5554 Yeah that would definitely work, but i am using the aforementioned red and white to headphone and it sounds perfect. You can get them at radioshack for like 6 bucks.

@ApocalypticWeasel Ok so I used the rca to headphone jack to connect the red and white rca into the subwoofer and the headphone jack into the tv (its an lg 32 inch and the model # is 32LK330). I watch regular tv through a fios cable box that i plug into the coaxial port of the tv. Whenever I watch anything on tv while the rear speakers are plugged in, they get sound but have this crackling sound that never goes away.

@jgrosse5554 Whenever I plug my laptop into the tv via vga and a 3.5mm jack aux for the audio, the audio is a lot better on the rear speakers but you can still hear a little crackling. But say I watch something on youtube with them, it sounds exactly like the way it does when I watch tv. Sorry to keep asking questions but I want to know if its my speakers that are defective or the way i am hooking them to my tv is what is causing them to sound like that.

@jgrosse5554 Okay, it sounds like the rear speakers are defective. Just as a heads up, make sure that you are plugging the 3.5mm jack into the green port in the back of the subwoofer. However, the back speakers on my set never crackled, if i was doing something wrong they simply wouldn't put out audio. I think it best to return the speakers for a new set?

you should buy the silver disc drive cover thing for your xbox, you can get them on ebay, all you have to do to get it off is basically pull it up and towards you a little.

@QUIKKSTAR Yeah the logitech speakers are still going strong, but i probably would have spent the 100 on maybe some other surround sound options. :p And im using a FlipMino HD. Great quality camera and not too expensive.

@QUIKKSTAR No, only 720p. I feel as though the audio quality on the Flip is better than an Ipod Touch, but the Ipod Cam should still look pretty good. And as a pointer, the Logitech x540's, which are the previous surround sound model logitech had, are a lot better than the z506. Cheaper too. Try Amazon xD

@ApocalypticWeasel Really? Do the x540 have a dedicated volume tuner. Why didnt u get the x540's? On amazon they start at $89.99 for new. And yeah the flip has wayy better audio than the iPod, especially outside recording.

@QUIKKSTAR Well, i didn't exactly know about the x540's when i purchased the z506. The thing about the the x540's is that they have a matrix sound decoder, which makes the surround sound seem more realistic. And yeah, they do have a volume control. Plus they look a little cooler. The only real upgrade that logitech had with the z506 is the bass level.

@ApocalypticWeasel Gotcha! Every video I see on the Z506's, commenters are saying the x540's was much better. Damn big ups to you for highlighting the N64. That was my system back in the late 90's, I still have mines too with Starfox, MK Trilogy, and so forth, but I don't think it works anymore, haven't played it in 10 years lol.
