yamaha ypvs power vavle system rz had dt had it 5000 rpm it would pull nicely until 8000 approx thats power band its very noticeable minivans are u nuts
Just got back from riding. I had to push my bike back because my power band broke... Now I have to order one before I ride again. Otherwise I just sit still when I release the clutch.
oh yeah, i have to get my money back when i had my moto dyno'd stock then dyno'd again when i changed every thing. yes everything has a powerband. but what you idiots seem to not under stand. i went from a stock pb to custom. at least the guy that bought the moto understood.
@gearheadred He beat the Harleys with a TZ750 powered dirt tracker. I was lucky enough to see one in del mar in 96. The 650 was in production until 1987. Too bad they didn't update it a bit with a couter balancer. They could still be selling it today.
@Uncle5cary He won the grand national championship in 73 and 74 on a xs650 bored to 750 (racing against harleys). He only rode the tz once in 75 at the Indy mile.
actually it does increase the powerband. maybe you should do your research before talking shit. cause you dont know what you are talking about. when you change the guts of an engine, it increases and changes the powerband. do your research
Learn about two stroke theory. The reeds don't suddenly open up and make the engine have crazy power. The reeds ALWAYS open up EVERY TIME the engine is on the intake stroke. Their purpose is just to stop fresh air/fuel from being blown back out the intake when the piston starts moving down. Two-strokes have a crazy power band, because at a certain RPM, the flow characteristics of the crank case and ports get very very efficient. A "powervale" can alter where this surge of efficiency kicks in.
The XS650 is a 4-stroke bike. Search Google for it and you'll spend about a month straight reading about it. One of Yamaha's most popular models ever & made from 1969 to 1983. Most common use is to build choppers & bobbers out of them. I just bought one setup for ice racing and another for my wife. Hers will stay street, and mine will be hardtailed. These bikes are sweet!

power band is a 2 stroke thing people. its when the reeds open up and then weeeeee. 2 strokes are combustion and 4 strokes have valves peoples. oh yeah this guy man handled this hill
4 strokes are combustion too retard. and actually a turbo on a four stroke gives it a noticeable "power band." You can increase a 4 strokes "power band" by putting a higher lift cam in it. But i bet you didnt know that
yes there is a way to increase a powerband. ive done it to my 1980 yamaha xs650g special 2. everthing from the top end to the bottom end of my cafe racer was changed to performance parts. everything in my engine and tranny is not stock, and yes guess what, my powerband changed. wanna find out how you figure that out, get your biked dyno'd. first stock, the after mods, then compair and guess what, you see how the power band changes. i love being a mechanic. HEY LOOK A SQUIRREL!!!!
@drpeppero3 everthing from the top end to the bottom end of my cafe racer was changed to performance parts. everything in my engine and tranny is not stock, and yes guess what, my powerband changed.i love being a mechanic."
By typing in that information and leaving out the actual part in a 4 stroke engine most responsible for altering "THE RUBBERBAND" you reveal yourself as an idiot who thinks he is a mechanic...
@rainmechanic yeah i dont know what im talking about...hmmm guess i went with a big bore kit and fatter carbs for nothing. damn, why did yoshimora machine my cam to make it lighter and produce higher rpms. DAMN MY SHORT STROKE PISTONS. i guess imma have to get rid of my triple bound clutch springs and get rid of my 6th gear. i guess i can get my money back when i decided to machine my head so i can change the compression ratio. wonder why pro racers talk about how changing parts changes the pb
All engines have a power band, some are just more radical than others, mostly two strokes. The power band is the band of power or how much power there is at certain rpm's. A powerband means the range of power at different levels of rpm's.
Actually, EVERY ENGINE has a power band. The power band is the BAND of POWER or range of power. In fact, even a fucking minivan has a powerband. As I said before, the power band is the range of power at different levels of rpm's.
@YamahaBoyTTR230 "The power band is the BAND of POWER or range of power. In fact, even a fucking minivan has a powerband. As I said before, the power band is the range of power at different levels of rpm's."
its funny how many ppl talk power band this and power band that and not one of them even know what a power band is i bet you paid the motorcycle shop money to put bigger power band in your bike didnt you
@unforgivenreality... Agreed... the two fools arguing the most are both clueless....
The powerband is a specific RPM range where the engine is operating within its peak torque and HP numbers..It usually begins where peak torque and peak horsepower first intersect on a dyno and terminates after peak horsepower begins to drop off...Cams do the decission making in a 4 stroke..Port shape and height do likewise in the two stroke...the farther apart peak Trq and HP are made the wider the powerband.
I've got TWO power bands on my bike. It's got so much band power that I wouldnt be allowed to enter a hill climb coz I would win automatically.

@YamahaBoyTTR230 pfff two stroke has an exaggerated powerband and can be tuned to higher or lower rpm by porting carbueration and exhaust!
