  • It is a shame that we have to content with people that don't know the truth about the outdoor systems. If they would live next to someone that owns and operates these systems year round, then maybe they would realize the dangers that the systems cause. My son and I both suffer from asthma and our neighbor runs one of these systems and the system is 12 feet from our home. Even with the 30' stack on the system our home gets covered with the heavy smoke output!

  • @quikmcw its not legal (as in no insurance company will allow it) to have an outdoor furnace withing 20 feet of your own home and I believe its 100 feet from someone else's home... if your honestly 12 feet from that you could have them move it

  • @jackshaver You just told 'em. Now let's see if anyone listens.

  • I think you mean they "got" rich off people who bought their old designs. You cant buy or install any unit today that does not burn clean. Its a win win too because when you burn the smoke you get more heat and use less wood. Technology to the rescue. Best deal would be cash for clunkers (smokers) to create an incentive to upgrade. Nothing wrong with burning wood, you just cant burn it so crudely, improperly, and wastefully that you just sit there inside your house and choke out everybody.

  • Nothing wrong with burning wood? Wood smoke is classified as a carcinogen and widely proven to cause respiratory problems and trigger heart attacks. Even OWB mfrs. warn of the dangers of wood smoke- carbon monoxide, benzene, formaldehyde, combustion creates all sorts of chemicals.

And the truth is there is NO regulation on OWB's, you can buy and install any unit today no matter how polluting, because of a loophole which manufacturers exploit because they know regulation is coming.

  • @GoReps Yeah, nothing wrong with burning wood. You people are so hyper sensitive. Why dont you buy a Prius and offset the pollution your neighbor omits. If it were me Id chuck a tire or two in it to let you know what stink is.

  • @siscotree Thank you for your insightful comments into what goes on inside the mind of a wood burner.

  • @GoReps go to a coal power plant... and then we can talk... just because its not next door to you and you don't have to see it doesn't mean it's any more efficient.

and actually you can get a tax rightoff of up to 1500 dollars if you buy a wood furnace...

I'm also glad you decided to tape it when the blower was actually on to make it look worse...

I'd also like you to know that if you burn old growth trees it lets new growth trees thrive which actually have a positive carbon imprint look it up

  • @jackshaver More efficient? Old growth, new growth, positive carbon imprints? Hold on there Mr. Green Scientist. We are looking for something a little more basic. We just want to be able to BREATHE on our own property. If you want to save the planet with your positive carbon imprints, and fancy ecotalk that's great. We just want our God given right to the air on our own property. Without air, none of that stuff you mention matters much.
