@thetruthfulflyer I hate .mov files, try VLC video player to view them, VLC also has a wizard that can encode almost any file type, the free avchd encoder is a good one as well, it's hard to get software that works with the raw footage. Mine is encoded by the camera during filming, then I encode it to an avi, then i export it from MM or adobe encoding it again, then youtube encodes it when I upload it.
altogether my videos are encoded 4 times before you view them.
@Jamii3S 1280 by 720 at 29.9 fps works pretty nicely for me. a suggestion, if you use the free avchd converter always let it finish its render. sometimes closing it during a render can lock it up in such a way that it wont convert anymore unless you put a new user account on the computer and encode with that account, it's a strange glitch and it took me a while to figure out how to get around it. doing a final render using divix helps during editing.
Could you send me a message on how to get the video files from the panasonic sdr-s26 to work directly with windows movie maker? I have the same camera but I have to convert the video files to work with windows movie maker which takes down the already standard definition.
@KillerPebbles you cant just drag and drop them into movie maker in xp without converting them, i've tried a number of codecs but panisonic dosent seam to offer much other then the included half ass sofyware packge. it's been said that windows 7 has the ability to edit the raw files, but it would probably require ffd show or some other codec pack.
I have a Panasonic SD10 HD camera and a 6 yr. old computer with Windows XP. I'm thinking of getting a new computer with Windows7. Will I be able edit the AVCHG format and send the video to YouTube in HD with Windows7 ?
supposedly movie maker on windows seven can edit AVCHD files, although I haven't tested it, and from what I know it doesn't have the track line editor yet so it would be just like using the software that came with the camera.
google
- ulead movie studio avchd cnet -
read the article entitled
The hardware is willing, but the software is weak .
At the end he talks about
Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 being able to open the mts files directly , it may be an editing solution for XP users.
I'm glad it helped, it gave me a few headaches untill I found the free converter, now my big problem is lighting, hd cameras require a good amount of light to look good, I need to get a few cheap shop lights.
But your video is not in HD...onl;y HQ. Is that on purpose? It took me a couple of tries using different encoding to get youtube to show my video as HD.
Great videos, been watching for over a year! Broke my teeth with an AirHogg and now fly the Blade 400, and planes as well. Keep up the good work.
It was due to my encoding, I had to encode the clips to an 848 by 480 res before I could edit them on my computer, but the original hd footage encoded down a lot nicer then the standard def footage, I need a better machine or windows 7 to do avchd encoding at full HD res.
I'm glad you've got your hands on a good 3D machine, If you're ever in Dallas bring it by, we'll go fly.
Hey umm can u help me out? what is a good video camera that can record good were u can see things good and hear good around 1 - 150$ plz msg me back =) thanks.
You should look at a camera like the casio exilim 8.1 (not that one specifically but something like it in your price range)
It's a standard still picture camera with video capabilities not a camcorder. camcorders get a better picture, but you need 10 times the light so they aren't as good for indoor filming. Look at how the lighting seams better on the first video even if the resolution is lower.
most cameras like it record in an easy to use mpeg format.
a better lighting setup might have put your point forward a bit more because the poor lighting causes the 3 video qualities to look quite similar.

@hobocamptheater I've picked up a few lights since then, but nothing special, they do make a difference.
