@OGSheep if u are able to challenge your viewpoint. look for an a bbc horizons documentary called "the secret life of a dog" its on iplayer and yt just google it. it shows that dogs are very much domesticated and different from wild wolves from which they evolved and perhaps essential to human development/evolution. dogs are also the only animals that can read emotion in human faces.

Man, I wish I could take her. I know everyone is saying that. But I'm in England and live in someone else's house.

What drives me nuts is that this is what I will be doing. When I get my own place in a couple of months I'll be taking on my mum's dog and a little disabled dog from a shelter who is just not getting adopted because she's disabled and she's a staffie. But I don't have the place yet and when I do I won't have the money to ship over Little Yellow. Pls keep us updated! Good luck!

Here in the states there are places where you can bring abandoned dogs and they will take care of them. The generic "pound" is slowly going away. there are a lot of places like the humane society that will refuse to kill an animal. I really hope that some one can take Little Yellow. I cant imagine how hard this must be on you, but your really trying to make this little dogs life as good as it can possibly be, thank you Mordeth for having a heart.

The pounds in Taiwan have lots communicative diseases. Plus it's really up to the shelter staff whether to keep LY for a month. Normally they only keep "pure-breeds" for that long... Maybe a boarding care would be better choice, but it usually costs USD$100 for a month...

Mordeth, if u say that the pound would take the dog for a month, then have u thought if you run out of time with LY and her stay on the school, why don't u give it to the pound and before the month end and she has to be put to sleep then u take her from them like telling them u want to adopt her afterall and that way you could gain a little more time to find a place for her...

I hope at least i could give you an idea of what you can do with poor LY and for her search of a new home...

DEFRA's website explains there PETS system , but basically it has to be microchiped and have its immunisations. then have a letter from a vet in taiwan. a few other minor details, but basically thats it! The expensive bit is the shipping and has to be done by an authorised airline. Oh, and if thats done then no quarantine is needed!

Taiwan is actually a rabies free country. The dogs can go straight to home without quarantine if transported to US as long as she is current on shots. Forumosa's pet section has quite a few people did that and I believe Animals Taiwan did it before, too. I hope someone can help this little dog.. give her a home, no matter where it maybe..... Taiwan is a bad place for dogs........ The pounds usually put dogs to sleep in 7 days if no one claims them..and usually no one claims them..... :'(

That video in Taiwanese was pretty cool. Hopefully someone will adopt it. Here in Los Angeles- puppies in the pound are more likely to be adopted than older dogs. But any dogs not adopted by certain time are killed.
