  • good video... but why the opening song of Kiddy Grade? O.O

  • Nice! If you only need 1 hand two use a sword, why not use two? Great demonstration of Dao techniques. Judging by the music, I guess this demonstration took place in Japan.

  • Not bad choreography, questionable song though. Even if it IS an anime convention.

  • OMG its Eric Nguyen

  • darkjoepie FIRST if we have to be honest Kung fu was started by an Indian Prince. SECOND it takes a true master to use the Chinese marshal arts in real life. Cuz most ppl like this sap here just do flashy stuff without a gram of focus and then get slaped across the face by a guy who has actually fought and has experience in fighting.

  • you cannot be sure that he does not train in a traditional style as well as this. like myself he may do more than one style so you should not just asume and insult others.

  • Perhaps but ive always considered chinese marshal arts inferior except for the long sword. That cuts ur wrists bad. Anyway a good strong Katana blade can cut though both broad swords and this dude's head when wielded by the right person.

  • yes but the straight sword is lighter and reaches the opponent faster than with a katana. I train in various styles so i have come to the realization that it is not the weapon but the wielder who wins the match. Not all people of a specific style are at the same skill level, so you cannot judge based on style or weapon.

  • show me proof that a real katana can cut through a real dao, or even a machete. Seriously, I've looked for proof and can not find it anywhere. I am told it is nearly impossible.

  • Dude type "Katana VS" in youtube search engine to see how indestructable one is.

  • I watched the videos and none of them show a katana splitting another sword. Folded metal will not easily cut through other folded metal, it just don't work that way. My father is a metal worker and I am a swordplay practitioner. I have not seen in my research a case of a sword being split by another. I have seen a skilled Chinese jian user completely dominate skilled katana users though. I like both weapons myself but I find the jian to be better for swordplay, the katana better against armour.

  • Well said Aetherus7. In fact, this question of on one sword splitting another was put to test on the TV show "Myth Busters" and proven untrue. The only "sword" the katana could split under super human strength was a cheap stainless steel replica.

  • to break another sword is EXTREMELY difficult in reality.

the thing is, it's all about the guy using the weapon, not the weapon itself. Sure, different weapons have different attributes and must be used differently to be fully effective. But at the core, it's not about the weapon style, it's about the guy behind the weapon.

  • @elliott20 It's also about how crappily the sword was made to start with. I mean, if it's a really crappy sword, it'll break. If it's not crappy (which it shouldn't be unless either the sword is supposed to break or the swordmaker sucks) it won't break for a very long time. Other than that, I agree with you entirely.

  • Ah whateva the important thing is that the guy in the video sucks imo XD

  • since u are so good, why dont u do a video of you doing something better?

  • Chinese martial artists think they're so good and clever, until they fight someone who actually knows martial arts themselves.

Then they look all funny lying face first in the dirt

  • its funny how all other asian based martial arts borrowed and copied from Chinese Martial Arts, paticularly those from Japan, Korea, etc.

    Now thats funny.

  • Funny how the majority of the other arts can not move as fluid or quick as the Chinese stylists either. Movement and technique is a big part of a real fight, that 1-2 hi-yaa karate stuff don't cut it... Modern wushu on it's own is not based on combat either of course.

  • meh... Tell them to goto K-1 or UFC.

Atleast KARATE represents. I don't see Wushu, Xaanda, Wing Tsun, or Long Fist representing.

  • you know , asians aren't the only people in the world who can do this kinda crap.

  • no but they are the one's who started most martial arts

  • martials arts = asians 4 life

  • Who is this d00d?

  • Woo go Eric! haha must've been a year ago. he doesn't even stretch before we train he just rotates his hips around....

  • actully those are not sword~ they are "Dao" you might call them huge knives~:)

  • Are those swords? They look more like pieces of tinfoil to me.

  • They don't use actual swords for these performances.

Especially if it's an anime convention.

  • That's what I thought. The ribbon on the end probably weighs more than the sword, hehe.

  • Anime convention. They'd need a fake sword to do the unrealistic anime speed.

  • Although these swords are fake, chinese broadswords (daos) come in various forms. Most daos are made very, very light and flexible. These swords aren't meant for fighting other weapons, they are designed to cut and slash as quickly as possible. They are designed more for fighting an unarmed opponent.

  • Maybe it's just me, but shuan dao always felt more proper when aggressive. His form was pretty good, though.

  • eh....

  • i was at that same place...he was awsome and the otehr guys and gals

  • dude i saw this guy!! he was crazy
