I really have no idea what you are going through, but I do know what it is like to look at a part of your body, tell it to move and watch it lay limp. When I broke my 5th metacarpal I had a pin inserted and long story short, it took me about 6 months to regain full control of my little and ring fingers, was a freaky feeling. Get well soon dude, thoughts are with you.
At least you improved from your last video. Just take care, relax, and heck, take the time you need. Take a year off before heading back to the DJ business again if you can!

Brian, if you want to quit smoking now is the time. Since you are stuck in a hospital chances are you haven't gotten much time to have a smoke, use that as your way of quiting. My mom was stuck in a hospital for weeks after having her appendix taken out. She was a smoker of 30 years, but after she finally got out she just chose not to smoke again. It was tough, but the realization that she could have died helped her to fight her cravings. Now is your chance to quit for good! Good luck.

I was just thinking. I sleep funny at night so i tend to cut off the circulation to my right arm. And I know that feeling. I phyically have to lift it to move it, and your right. its not light!! Just a lil tidbit of info..

Happy Easter Boss. I had a similar situation last year. I had a pinched nerve & lost use of muscles in my ankle/foot areas. I wondered if I'd be able to continue to walk. Therapy helped me after 9 weeks. It will help you Brian. You have had a life changing experience. Accept it & conquer it my friend. I'll be praying for you! Greg.

I think I might be able to help you... I'm friends with a hypnotist who does stop smoking seminars and he has produced a self-hypnosis CD. It's a great way to stop smoking and if you're interested in trying, please let me know and I will send you one of his CDs.
Great video here! You gave some really good advice to other people. It is so important to take care of ourselves physically and mentally. Try not to stress about stuff and sometimes we just need to slow down and smell the roses. I am pulling for you Brian! When i was 10 years old, I had to help my mom with physical therapy exercises. She never regained full use of her left side and she just learned to cope with it. I hope it's differnet for you. POSITIVE BEAMS to you!

I have had family members who have had strokes, and I can tell you this...keep doing the exercises. The thing about strokes is, it's an electrical impulses thing. Your body needs to re-learn that you have those body parts and how to control them. Until then, you need to keep the muscles working so they stay strong and flexible. If the right side of your face is working like your eyes, it's a good sign!
It amazes me when I hear stories of average people who are hit with these huge obstacles to come back from it or even figure out a "work-a-round." Keep up the great recovery.
Also, we need to take some time to sit back and chill. Although we need to work hard to grow our dj careers, we also need to know our limits and stop and smell the flowers every opportunity we get.
Great to hear that your sight has come back. Trust me, having little sight does suck sometimes. lol Anyway I have a friend who suffered a horrible stroke about 9 months ago and was left bed ridden. Everyone said he wouldn't do much more then lay in bed all day. Since that time he has began to walk again using a cane and although he still has to deal with some limitations, he is making progress every day.
I've come to realize that the human spirit is an amazing thing.

I was thinking about that last set-up you did with the Spherian LED and the Tri7s. The gig in that place with the carpet on the walls. I see improvement since the first vid Brian. Awesome! I mentioned you to someone the other day and I called you my friend. Well.... you are. After all you are in my living room at least every week sometimes more. Heck, you even took me to Germany and Holland with you recently. Happy Easter Brian! It's so great that you're staying positive. As far as the smoking is concerned, you really should quit. I smoked for 14 years and as soon as I saw the electronic cigarette, I knew it was going to work. It really gives you the sensation and almost as much satisfaction as a real cigarette. In June it will be 3 years since my last cigarette. Get better soon man, I can't wait to see you video from Amsterdam.

You make sure, when you're in physio that they give you give specific exercises for your side that isn't moving "YET" on it's own.
Your brain has to either repair or re-wire around the part of your brain that was damaged.

I think it would be great if American DJ would sponser you and your recovery. You could vlog your rehab. It would be a great way to raise awareness of the finer points of strokes and also would be great PR for the company

Dear Brian Its great to here that your having inprovement God Bless You & Happy Easter I'm writing this not only to congratulate you but also an awareness i'm wondering if your stroke was from the plane ride to germany I'm asking because my wife went to Italy and came home with blood clots in here calf and splatered through her lungs we almost lost her and she's fine now. so to all the DJ's that Travel on long plane rides get up and move around at least every hour

I have had family members who have had strokes, and I can tell you this...keep doing the exercises. The thing about strokes is, it's an electrical impulses thing. Your body needs to re-learn that you have those body parts and how to control them. Until then, you need to keep the muscles working so they stay strong and flexible. If the right side of your face is working like your eyes, it's a good sign!

It amazes me when I hear stories of average people who are hit with these huge obstacles to come back from it or even figure out a "work-a-round." Keep up the great recovery.
Also, we need to take some time to sit back and chill. Although we need to work hard to grow our dj careers, we also need to know our limits and stop and smell the flowers every opportunity we get.

Great to hear that your sight has come back. Trust me, having little sight does suck sometimes. lol Anyway I have a friend who suffered a horrible stroke about 9 months ago and was left bed ridden. Everyone said he wouldn't do much more then lay in bed all day. Since that time he has began to walk again using a cane and although he still has to deal with some limitations, he is making progress every day.
I've come to realize that the human spirit is an amazing thing.

I'm a 46 year old newbie DJ. I'm a DJ because of guys like you and Johnathan. I was loading my van for a wedding gig yesterday, and I was thinking about you. I was thinking about that last set-up you did with the Spherian LED and the Tri7s. The gig in that place with the carpet on the walls. I see improvement since the first vid Brian. Awesome! I mentioned you to someone the other day and I called you my friend. Well.... you are. After all you are in my living room at least every week sometimes more. Heck, you even took me to Germany and Holland with you recently. We stay up really late and listen to tunes and sometimes we take lights out into the street and play. Thank you Brian, you really are a friend to many. Happy Easter Brian! It's so great that you're staying positive. As far as the smoking is concerned, you really should quit. I smoked for 14 years and as soon as I saw the electronic cigarette, I knew it was going to work. It really gives you the sensation and almost as much satisfaction as a real cigarette. In June it will be 3 years since my last cigarette. Get better soon man, I can't wait to see you video from Amsterdam.
