  • I've been listening The Beatles/McCartney since I was ten years old, and still no other musician I've ever heard displays McCartney unprecedented level of songwriting genius. It's unbelievable how spectacular he is, was, and continues to be.

  • Paul actually wrote this one in the 1970's. Who knows how many other great songs he has tucked in that brain of his.

  • the 7 ppl who disliked arent having a great day

  • Too freakin' short!!!!

  • @ the BeatlesToday I think that it is a box with a hole in i hat you tap with your hand. you get the sound by striking it closer o farther from the hole. This is just my guess maybe it helped though

  • paul's dead its his look a like! lulz

  • I love this song sooo much, Paul has such incredible music; but I question other lyrics of his such as Jet.

  • What is the percussion instrument in this, the one that sounds like someone slapping their knee? The same instrument (or a similar one, at least) can be heard in "Goodbye" by Mary Hopkin, another McCartney record, and I can't figure out what it is!

  • Reminds me of the first McCartney solo album.

  • we were deprived of so much after 1980, they would have wrote together again of that im sure , old feuds forgotten and world class music written again , just a real shame . RIP John and George and thanks for everything .

  • i love you paul <3

  • wow! paul mccartney, after all those years you are still making great music!!

  • come on man... Paul doesn't sue people, he makes music for expressing himself, and perhaps some money, but he already has a lot... and I agree, he is the greatest musician of all time.

  • 33

  • Having a reflective moment, this song makes me feel great! Thank you Paul :)

  • the guitar used in this song really sounds like a martin.

  • he was jaw dropping last night in Cincinnati

  • Paul McCartney is an amazing singer.

  • Cool song. I could hear Neil Young make a cover of this song. Sounds very much like something he would write in the 70s.

  • i dont know who apatow is but I know who tha fuck Paul McCartney is!

  • suck my dick im better!

  • hey sorry about my previous comment a friend was messing about.. Love this track.. awesome!

  • @liberaltar haha that was a cyber-rape.. who was it?

  • Loving this song and seeing as Paul is my favourite beatle & fav solo artist then i'm surprised i haven't heard this as i have so many of his songs. GREAT DAY? IT'S AN AWESOME DAY PAUL :D

  • Love this tune! A good song for Mondays!

  • Why ruin the greatness of Paul McCartney by mention Apatow?

  • Funny People brought me here.. Holy shit a Beatle! My life just got better

  • its soo sad that most people havent heard this song until it was on Funny People. Paul McCartney is a legend! My middle name is Paul, after Sir Paul McCartney and i'm very very proud of that!

  • @shishkaberrytoke How can it be sad that the movie has turned people into McCartney fans? You're viewing it from a very ignorant perspective. I love that film makers are able to spread the love of music through their films and enlighten people who may have never heard the song if it wasn't in their project. Now that I've said my peace lol Cheers to Paul, and cheers to your middle name!

  • @opiiatee i dont think im ignorant at all and am kind of offended actually. What i think is sad is the ammout of remarks about people discovering it through a 2010 movie when it came out in the 90's. im just surprised that more people aren't aware of his work. he's one, wait, thee most amazing musician still alive today.

  • @shishkaberrytoke I didn't call YOU ignorant. I said that your view is ignorant. Meaning that it's a close minded perspective. Not everyone had the privilege of being brought up on good music and given The Beatles work at an early age. How is it their fault that they weren't exposed to his music? To look down on people for not having heard and enjoyed Paul's work until they saw the movie is completely mad. How about just enjoying the fact that it spawned new fans of Paul McCartney?

  • @shishkaberrytoke I didn't call YOU ignorant. I called your perspective on the matter ignorant. Not everyone had the privilege of being brought up on good music such as this. In order to know about something you have to be exposed to it one way or the other. If a person comes across a piece of older music through a modern source, well I think that's just fine. I'm just glad that people are still being exposed to good music. No matter where it comes from.

  • @shishkaberrytoke I still haven't heard it on funny people so Im on the right track plus my middle name is Paul too

  • Those four can suck it

  • 4 people think it will be long

  • I searched on youtube soundtracks in funny people. This was 1st :d.

  • 4 users arent funny people

  • @srichardson101

I ate a flaming pie once and not only did Paul sue me, but I burned my tongue as well! (That was not a great day at all, I guarantee you!) - 1b2s

  • This Song, Coffee, and a sunny sunrise is the best thing after another sleepless night as an insomniac, and i dont even like this kind of music, or fucking sunrises!!

  • @courselanguage i checked wikipedia in the soundtrack section

  • agree

  • i was watching funny people...when this song came on i was thinking it must have been written by macca, i didn't expect it to BE macca. so the i then went onto wikipedia to find the soundtrack, found this song.....the funny thing is it was on my pc anyway from the flaming pie album. too sum up great song great voice great guy. shame i "misplaced" my photo from when he kindly let my dad take a pic of me and my bro outside the mpl studios in soho square.

  • i 1st heard this in the movie Funny People. This is a cool song

  • Perfect song!!!

  • yeah i love that song i listen to it all the time i made a vid with that song but youtube wont let me upload it... a stupid error has occured:<

  • There was a short melody which sounds quit like this at the end of one track of the album RAM I think...

  • Yup. Or the track "Big Barn Bed" from Red Rose Speedway. He begins to sing it at the end of that track on Ram.

  • so mindblowing, great song... and day

  • favorite song

  • You think thats funny listen to buddy hollys Everyday

  • Oh c'mon tpo91 it reminds you of your childhood and your best uncle. You remember how he gave you that special present on your birthday every year. And it was always a great day for you.

  • Dont forget about Christmas 2

  • Rotfl I love you, this made my day XD

  • from his web site I was sent an MP3....you too can get one too and stop this childish bickering that I seem to see so much of on UTube....sigh

    LOL

  • So true. Almost every video has opinionated twats arguing.

  • If you were watching it for comedy yes, that's because it wasn't meant to be a comedy movie.

  • no, it wasn't. it was loosely based off of "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

"Funny People" at its funniest, was flat out hysterical. When it got down to the core of the story line, it was one of the saddest movies I've seen in a long time. Kudos the Judd Apatow.

  • Sure it was, I guess it just takes a different way of thinking to really appreciate it. I thought it was one of apatow's most mature and endearing film thus far.

  • @EnsiferumTC agreed

  • i no it sucked

  • This song was in Funny People? More respect for Apatow now!

  • respects for sure !! I think he put jason shcwartzman in charg of music on this 1, but im always impressed with the chunes in apatow projects, even back in freaks n geeks

  • hell yeah

  • @Dansull123 Funny People also had solo songs from Harrison, Lennon and Starr. So it's obvious Apatow's a Beatles fan.

  • @Dansull123 Jason Schwartzmen did the music for this movie

  • @Dansull123 great movie

  • @Dansull123 apatow is the king man

  • @Dansull123 Lennon's, Harrisson's and Star's song were also in Funny People. He got each from the beatles...

  • @lilkittycrazie starr's song was photograph i know you probably know that though i just wanted to say that for everyone else to know

  • @Dansull123 Jason Schwartzman did the soundtrack, Judd gave him total control. Still huge respect to Mr. Apatow.

  • I really love this song !!! Thank you :) !

  • I feel bad ass knowing I have listened to the Flaming Pie album HUNDREDS of times before Great Day was featured in Funny People.

  • well you shouldn't

  • well, I do. what are you gonna do about it?

  • Laugh at you, ahaha.

  • You must have quite a life.

  • Oh come now KyeBruce and punwin, the day is far too short for piddling issues like this. Honestly, you boys would test the patience of a saint. Now, go on and tuck in your shirt tails, wipe that snot off of your noses and shake hands ...but make sure to wipe the snot off your hands, eh. Much love to all xx

  • love, went really good on 'funny people'

  • I love this song and I would really like to add it to my Myspace page, so please don't be angry with me. Sir Paul McCartney thanks for always believing in me, even when I don't believe in me.

  • This is the opening song (Paul singing) in Adam Sandler's movie Funny People.

  • Fantastic recording..... i am going out tomorrow and buy the CD... Paul, thanks for the great music....

  • Flaming Pie was a good disk. Good tune.

  • this picture is the best,

there's actually a flaming pie stamp right there.

  • when i watched funny people, and i heard this song, i had no idea who made that song, but i kept listening hard to see if it really was paul mccartney singing

  • hahah well same here i was like wow it sounds like paul mccarney and then i searched the parts of lyrics and it turned out to be him!

  • flaming pie is the most hillarious name for anything ever

  • dedicated to my six year old on his birthday.!!!

  • The chords for the verses/intro/most of the song are..

E, 000430, 000320, 000210.. i dont know the actual names of those chords but hopefully you can read that kind of tablature.

    The 'It wont be long' part is played like 002000, 004000, 005000, 004000, .... 020000 040000, 050000, 040000.

I only wrote out 6 numbers so you'd know what strings I was talking about.. don't strum all the strings, just the ones close to where you are playing the frets on.

  • this is the opening song of the new movie "Funny People" they also have a Beatles song, Ringo song, and John song in the movie.

  • there was a george song too.

  • yeah the second it came on I knew it was macca

  • wait whats the beatles song?

  • They also played a George Harrison song in the background in the scene where hes talking to Eminem.

  • george helped alot with making the ringo song, though

  • Flaming Pie-great album!

  • Written in 1972 as a potential Red Rose Speedway song, as I recall. Sounds like it, too.
