At the time of the indictment, the Post Office accused Sitzman of stealing over $3000 in stamps. Attorney Zodrow, who was an accountant before being a lawyer (and also was a Postal employee for 11 years), found numerous artithmatic errors in the Government’s case. The Judge agreed with Zodrow’s analysis and, at the time of trial, the USPS Office of Inspector General accused Sitzman of stealing $78.29 worth of individual stamps. Sitzman was acquitted of all charges.
Nancy Sitzman, was a 24-year veteran of United States Postal Service, most recently serving at the Park Hill, Colorado, post office. She spent a year suspended without pay while under federal investigation, and is unsure if her employment or pension will be restored following her investigation. The case against Sitzman included three counts of misappropriation of funds and 17 counts of making false statements.
Video about Denver USPS employee Nancy Sitzmans criminal trial and outcome. Denver Attorney John Zodrow is interviewed briefly in the story. Window clerk Sitzman was acquitted by a federal jury of 20 counts (including 17 felonies) alleging that she stole money and falsified documents with the federal government. The Govenment spent appproximately $240,000 unsuccessfully proescuting the allegations for $78.
More investigation should be done. These postal workers take many things not just money. Pension, they can just retire and live with easy money. I would never do a crook any good if it's ok $75.00 appears to be small. Really everyday these Postal workers walk off with money. See why if it's ok they got no cost of living raise, but they live better now then before. Fuck them! No Pension will be paid until loss is recovered. No Pension is the progress of USPS!
