I usually hate death metal, but oh how could anyone not like Opeth? And Mikael is just awesome. His melodic voice is gorgeous and he demonstrates it in Damnation and many other "metal ballads" from this band.. Just.. <3

My gf is ten years younger and when her and her friends hear Opeth they think, "Oh, Blackwater Park" - wtf? Still Life was SICK and My Arms, Your Hearse really fired me up when I heard it - 15 years ago? God, maybe I am getting old, too.

Funny that she's 21 years old and she listens to Blackwater Park as a classic, lol

I admire so much this man ...i'm a bit sad knowing that they aren't sufficiently recognized, and that's a fact in metal scene, but i'm so so so glad to know that this band still exists and they are just ... incredible. Mikael is a genious, an example !

Mikael said that before Blackwater Park there wasn't really a good wave between the band and the fans all over the world, but personally i think the first 3 and even 4 albuns are just insane! Many Metal Mags put the first 5 albuns on top .. and the rest of them even more. For a person who didn't have financial resources, it's really good look to all this facts. Opeth are the best band in the world and nobody stops this career ... fabulous carrer i think.

I think it is interesting that Opeth only got their "break" after Blackwater Park. In my opinion, there is no "bad phase" for Opeth. I think every album is amazing, but Still Life is my favorite.
