not meaning to troll or anything but the f88 austeyr doesnt use NATO 5.56x45 ammunition it uses AUSTRALIAN MADE F1 5.56x45 ball rounds, they are a more reliable clean round then the NATO round, also you cant go saying the AUG is shit, this is not the AUG this is the Australian Made F88A2, compleatly different rifles
@zid185 lol.... not picking in u mate... just letting u know that its actually Australian Army... we r the only country in the world with this style of Camo we have nick named him "jelly bean" camo...
@Whereamiable heavy machine gun?...... compact bullpup assault rifle... and its better than the yanks taking the M-16 which is much longer room to room.
@Blandy086 lol yea like the next day my friend told me that it isnt a hmg =P thats what happens when you play too much MW2! and yea the yanks like to stick to the "storm the house with M-16s" tactics.... lol
@Whereamiable Its only a 5.56 FN89 Minimi there not that heavy lol, but i agree normally the machine gunners stay outside during CQB but i guess they all need to be taught how to do CQB
@ford260 the only thing that classifies the catagories of Light machine gun and Heavy machine gun is the size of the round they fire. the F89 is 5.56 light, in contrast to the Mag 58 firing the 7.62
Hey man is this headcam mounted on yourself? If so, I'm wondering how this was allowed? Did they know you took this video? I'm going into defence in January, was talking to some mates about how sweet it would be to ring home some footage but I assumed it wouldn't be allowed or possible. If it is allowed, I'd definately get myself a headcam and get some videos of some training action!
@HONORGUARD308 It does not use the 5.56mm NATO round. Came back and talk to me when you have fired the gun.
@ nerflover242 What's the F88 steyr? Love people who say my country's army is the best but have no idea about their country's army. Yes it fires a 5.56mm but not the 5.56mm NATO.
fyi, its a HEAD cam, for those that were bitching about the lack of aim. every time you see the weapon at spray height, its more than likely lined up. now re watch and enjoy =P
F88 AuSteyr isn't the same as the Steyr AUG. There is multiple differences, main for me at least is a different barrel for a different round, bayonet lug, rifling pitch like the M16A2. Yes despite what many think it does not use the 5.56mm NATO round.
@BaronDewy your right the f88 and the AUG are not the exact same but it uses the 5.56mm NATO and the only mods done are buy the australian company that makes these ones to make them a bit better so there is no really diff between the AUG and f88
@BaronDewy mate i got no idea what planet you're on. Now I have never fired a steyr (I'm 15) but i have been to army bases and army shooting ranges (my uncle was in the army, my dad helped build some shit at pukapunyal) and my uncle let me sit in on a briefing about the rifle once.
He, and multiple other members of the australian army (including officers) referenced it firing "the 5.56 nato round" "the 5.56X45mm" and "the same round as the M16"
@lukefromdownunder Sorry mate it doesn't, it has a different propellent. I have never known anyone to refer to the 5.56mm as 5.56 nato, not even Australian Commandos, US marines, red legs, royal marines, or British army personal; in other words people who do use the 5.56mm NATO round. P.S yes I do know people in the list above. Also it doesn't matter that your 15, I have met people that shot a steyr at 13--hell guess my age.
@BaronDewy wait, are you implying that you are 13? and you've met US marines and commandos from multiple countries?
Can you think of one reason why the australian army would use a different round to the british, american, and pretty much every NATO countries army? When in afghanistan or something, if troops run out of ammo, they can just go to some US or Canadian or British troops and get more rounds off them.
Our round is more accurate due to a better propellent. I never said the F88 austeyr can't use the 5.56mm NATO round. Oh yes if I was on patrol and run out of bullets I would so walk hours to get some ammo off a NATO country (btw we're not in NATO).
@BaronDewy i just went to good old wikipedia to try and find proof that I am correct. Guess what the features of the f88 it mentioned were: the same rifling pitch as the M16A2, a bayonet lug etc. I.E. the same features you mentioned. Here is where i think you went wrong. Wikipedia then says the f88 uses "a heavier 62-grain NATO-standard SS109/M855 "
I think you mistook this as meaning it fired a different round. It actually is just a slightly modified 5.56 NATO round built in australia
1. I did state (originally or at least that's what I meant) that the F88 austeyr shoots a Australian made 5.56mm with a modified propellent. Yes you could said a modified 5.56 NATO, because that's what it is. Because it is modified it does mean it's new, other wise we wouldn't be saying F88 Austeyr, we would be saying Steyr AUG.
2. It doesn't matter if you call it a modified NATO round or not. That doesn't matter, what does is that the F88 Austeyr rocks.
@BaronDewy hmm.. i actually seem to be mistaken. i apologize. However if you go to the wikipedia page for the 5.56 NATO round and go to the military cartridges section is says: "Cartridge, Ball, F1 (Australia): 5.56x45mm FN SS109 equivalent produced by Australian Defence Industries(ADI), now Thales Australia."
So i would call it a 5.56 NATO round, and say that the F88 is chambered in 5.56 NATO, though as you said, it does use a different propelant.
@lukefromdownunder Oh yes I forgot, our army doesn't make our own ammo. The Australian government (or better put, a Australian government run company) hasn't made any ammo since we sold off ADI back in the 90s to multiple companies.
lol it was just a jam... the Australian soldiers have it drilled into them about how to fix a weapon in the field quickly and effectively. should see how fast they take the barrel off :P
hell yeh. during Vietnam while America was napalming everything and when they hit the ground they where shit scared of where the Vietnamese where and always being snuck up on, our SAS where named by the cong, that name was there equivalent of 'Ghost'
lol r u sayn that usa army sucks lol cause we r the reason y most wars in the world were won ^-^ but austrains r good army 2 my opinon its Usa #1 , Britsh #2(onlycause they got some prety good wepons n alway start the wars =) Austria #3 n French ae LAST Xo they ne fight always runin away in combat n always losin in battles n losin teritory ^-^
weis ich auch aber die original version kommt aus österreich *klugscheiß* es kennen sich auch andere mit´m österreichischen militär aus nicht nur du *klugscheiß*
yeh it is in darwin, these are rifleman training in urban environments, the other rifleman mounted and well the pack horses train in Qld and Singleton in NSW.
Yep It was a jam, But don't forget that these F88's have a blank firing attachment and of course, are firing blanks. I'm not 100% sure on the exact details but its something about the gas pressure failing sometimes when firing blanks vs. 5.56 ball rounds.
Not that jarrad, the F88 with the BFA has ALWAYS had issues with jams. Something to do with the gas piston having ALL of the gases hit it or something like that, not exactly sure why.
I think you've misunderstood me, I was saying the F88 is a reliable rifle, but without the BFA, the F88 hardly jams, as the gentleman above me stated. So in real life it would not have been KIA cos that jam wouldn't have happened.
Ok to clear all this up for people. This is you Standard issue F-88 Steyr and Your F-89 Minimi. They are using the MILES System in a "Kill House" which the TRG and SASR Train in for Urban Warfare. The F-88 Steyr fires a 5.56 Nato round with a muzzle velocity of 930 m/s and can fire up to 180 rounds in 2 minutes which makes it a very dangerous weapon. You can also see that these guys are new to the "Kill House" Therefore they do not use SMG's or Shotguns and whatnot.
Geez enough arguing about this. The Steyr AUG (Stg.77) is an *AUSTRIAN* assault rifle. Australia builds a licensed copy called the F88 for their military. These guys are obviously Australian as you can tell if you listen closely to them speak, and they are using MILES gear where a blank cartridge goes off but aside from that it's basically sophisticated laser tag.
@DLS95 Technically their not. they may look the same, but there is a range of differences. it has a different ratio in rifling pitch which is 1:7, it fires the heavier 62-grain NATO-standard SS109/M855 5.56mm round, it also has an "automatic lockout" selector that can physically disable the fully automatic position of the 2-stage trigger mechanism found on the standard AUG. oh and btw its Rifle not Gun a gun is an artillery piece.
@AussieSAS1 Hey yeah sorry about the whole Gun thing i was younger when i actually posted this comment and wasnt really as technical, but all that said it basically is the same weapon just when you get down to the nitty gritty that they are different.
@marlin47broadbill I know, i have replied to about 3 or 4 comments telling me the same thing, i was younger when i commented of then video and i knew then that they were different i was just trying to say that they were the same idea basically
MILES Gear is baiscally like very accurate and fancy laser tag, if you have ever shot a gun before that is a 9mm or larger round, you know its loud as hell. Thats why it is good training, put them in a battle situation.
I bet there are outake shots where you went to use the head and 4got the camera was still on your helmet and was still running ... and your whole platoon is using to blackmail you into cleaning the whole barracks by yourself :-)
Hahaha!Do not forget the stinger rockets america give to the mudjahedin in afganistan.boycott yourself! Do not forget the f14 sold to iran, and other warmachines.
Duh, 800 were sold to Iran. Like anything that Iran gets, at least a few found their way into Iraq somehow. The first soldier was killed within 45 days of the shipment to Iran. With some of the talented gunsmiths in Iraq, they may be producing copies of it now.
The AUG is more effective than carbines because it's a Bullpup weapon. This means its trigger is in front of its magazine, allowing it to have a much longer barrel. The AUG has a barrel length comparable to that of the M16 and is just as accurate, WHILE having an overall size LESS than that of the M4 because of its configuration. This means the AUG is great for both long range sniping and CQB firefights.
Germany have its G36. The Steyr AUG is manufactured in Austria in the late 70`s.Austria ,Australia,Newzealand,Oman,Marocco,Saudi Arabia and som more Countrys use this great Rifle.
Dude, this video kicks ass. This is what I want to see everytime I want to look at a gun in action. Not a bunch of kids airsofting. Props man, thanks for sharing this vid.

DLS95 2 years ago
@DLS95 Yeah same design but not the same weapon lol srry to get technical i know it anoying :P
EXgamer10 1 year ago
@DLS95 Technically their not. they may look the same, but there is a range of differences. it has a different ratio in rifling pitch which is 1:7, it fires the heavier 62-grain NATO-standard SS109/M855 5.56mm round, it also has an "automatic lockout" selector that can physically disable the fully automatic position of the 2-stage trigger mechanism found on the standard AUG. oh and btw its Rifle not Gun a gun is an artillery piece.
AussieSAS1 10 months ago
@AussieSAS1 Hey yeah sorry about the whole Gun thing i was younger when i actually posted this comment and wasnt really as technical, but all that said it basically is the same weapon just when you get down to the nitty gritty that they are different.
DLS95 10 months ago
@AussieSAS1 but i do see what you are saying, what i ment but my comment was that they are both a design of one Rifle
DLS95 10 months ago
@DLS95 no they are not, not exactly
HONORGUARD308 8 months ago

That's AUGs and their ease of use for you.
KuostA 4 years ago
I assume you were doing this through some military as opposed to private/recreational? If not, where do I sign up?
joefromcofosho 4 years ago
it looked like airsoft without sound, and little puffs from the barrel
spymaster777 4 years ago
It's definetly MILES gear. Look up Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System. So fucking cool, when I'm rich I'm going to kill all my friends.
joefromcofosho 4 years ago
no they are blanks using miles gear, the most real training you can get.
airsoft3003 4 years ago
ive heard of blanks, are they just shells with gunpowder and no bullet? if so, how do the other guys know when they're hit?
mikykim070 4 years ago
MILES Gear is baiscally like very accurate and fancy laser tag, if you have ever shot a gun before that is a 9mm or larger round, you know its loud as hell. Thats why it is good training, put them in a battle situation.
airsoft3003 4 years ago
oh i see. so it's laser tag while the blank rounds go off to give it the real gun sound. right?
mikykim070 4 years ago
correct :)
jarrad888 4 years ago
I bet there are outake shots where you went to use the head and 4got the camera was still on your helmet and was still running ... and your whole platoon is using to blackmail you into cleaning the whole barracks by yourself :-)

Hahaha!Do not forget the stinger rockets america give to the mudjahedin in afganistan.boycott yourself! Do not forget the f14 sold to iran, and other warmachines.
actionfritz 5 years ago
Thanks Austria for the contribution to the mess in Iraq
800 qty. Steyr HS .50 were sold to Iran and now are being used by insurgents in Iraq. I say save your dollars and boycott Stery....
middltej1 5 years ago
dude you suck do you really think they only got their hands on steyr guns ? ....
Narkoze123 5 years ago
This Guns wasn't produced by Steyr, this were produced in Lincence by other companys.
KGR1984 4 years ago
oh sry false comment, i mean the Steyr .50 HS wich were found in Irac
KGR1984 4 years ago
Duh, 800 were sold to Iran. Like anything that Iran gets, at least a few found their way into Iraq somehow. The first soldier was killed within 45 days of the shipment to Iran. With some of the talented gunsmiths in Iraq, they may be producing copies of it now.
AreThereNoMoreNames 4 years ago
It's only a matter of time until Iran gets the atomic bomb. Do you realy think 800 HS .50 make a difference then????
SP21Barak 5 years ago
This particular weapon isn't called the steyr AUG it's called the F88 austeyr there are differences in the weapons I beleive.
Sturms 5 years ago

Don't forget Ireland!
I pray to god that's it's true that Steyr is going to build a factory here in the US. I'm sick of these $3k+ pre-ban AUGs that are hard to come by.

Sorry for my english. Germany do not use the aug.
actionfritz 5 years ago
He meant, "Germany has its G36, BUT the Aug is manufactured in blahblah"
KuostA 5 years ago
germany doesn't use the steyr aug!
Mani001Obi 5 years ago
The AUG is more effective than carbines because it's a Bullpup weapon. This means its trigger is in front of its magazine, allowing it to have a much longer barrel. The AUG has a barrel length comparable to that of the M16 and is just as accurate, WHILE having an overall size LESS than that of the M4 because of its configuration. This means the AUG is great for both long range sniping and CQB firefights.
KuostA 5 years ago
Germany have its G36. The Steyr AUG is manufactured in Austria in the late 70`s.Austria ,Australia,Newzealand,Oman,Marocco,Saudi Arabia and som more Countrys use this great Rifle.
actionfritz 5 years ago
you part of it?
