  • Just to point out, be careful when opening the casing. My model 1 Saturn is slightly different on the inside. The power/reset and power outlet chip is all attached to the top half of the casing with wires between and is ether impossible or difficult to open up completely without detaching a wire. It doesn't have that switch sticking out of the side, but instead, a tiny button on the top back corner where the CD door pushes it in. Its a paint to tape the button down but it can be done..

  • like your white socks lol

  • Eeek no Dreamcast....???

  • That's a clean Saturn! I just found a model 1 at the Goodwill for $5. Looks like I'm in for a long hard road since I'm going to install that mod chip.

  • The Isozone dot com is the best for Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast isoz.

Just got my Saturn model 1 and burned Mega Man 4X for it!

  • @BFKAnthony817 did you use nero or diskjuggler?

  • I want that cat D:

  • @thatguyiknewinrwanda cat suck..

  • great vid helped me alot. but if you want my advice, you shouldn't use panzer dragoon ( a extremely rare and good game) and risk breaking that game.

  • awesome vid, helped me out a lot. what website do you use to get the burned games, thanks. i want to do this so badly

  • @superwawa I used to use Romulation for getting Saturn Games I couldn't buy (though I still advise to buy them when you can obviously), but they've now stopped hosting Saturn games.. You're best off finding a underground torrent website. I suggest a tracker that uses an invite system, just to protect your own keister, and then finding someone who can invite you into the tracker of your choice.

  • Sweeeeeeeet.... Thanks for the cool tutorial.

  • So I have a question -- I have a model 1 saturn (oval buttons), looks exactly like yours until I took the top off. When I did, the circuit board on the lefthand side came up with it (attached to the top cover) and the lever you tape down to do the trick DID not exist. Nowhere to be found! Any answers?

  • @BenTheoRowe I just got a Saturn and had this same issue.

The switch for these ones are on the lid of the system, there's two grey wires that run up to a little tiny tiny switch. If you open and close the lid a few times you'll see how the switch is pushed. Just open the disk tray and wrap some tape around the little switch and you'll be golden.

  • Thanks, works perfect! I've read motor burnout may come with extensive use but Saturns are so cheap these days, might as well pick up an extra for modding.

  • Hey, umm, does a model 1 sega saturn work with a stuck reset button? I got it off of ebay, and it wasn't wanting to show the boot up screen. is this due to the stuck rest button?

  • Thanks!!! :D

  • what kind of discs do u need

  • You'll need standard CD-Rs. The Saturn doesn't use DVDs.

  • @Wolfshadow6 but it fucks up your motor. badly. not to mention the laser disc reader if u still want to have the saturn in about 10 more years or more, dont do this trick.... by a mod chip

  • This mod is not Dangerous for sega saturn right?

  • It can burn out the Saturns motor if you swap too much. It'll be fine as long as you don't do it too much.

  • This was the ONLY useful swap trick guide I have ever found for the Saturn. If only youtube existed back in 1998.

  • thanks....this was helpful!

  • interesting.. i have a model 1 and my power switch doesn't seperate from the top of the case... is that normal? o_o i see yours does and stays in place

  • actually i just realised .. your lid switch is on the board too.. mine is in the actual lid on the top O.o

  • brianchris4, I have the same problem with my saturn as you, with the board in the lid... and I can't find the lid switch at all in mine, where is it and where do you tape it? I'm so confused ;-;

  • Find two wires going to the lid its just a bundle of 2 i believe it leads to the right side and there will be the switch there, I tried taping it but the tape didnt hold so i cut the wires going to the saturn and just spliced them together so in the future i can add a seperate toggle switch to it .. just routed them out a vent on the side of the system its tacky but it works

  • Love that capcom intro!

  • Very helpful video

  • thanks... i just bought a saturn and now cant wait to get some cd-r for back up purposes ofcoarse :)

  • is all working?

    I mean i need a second opinion!

  • 2nd opinion for what? Weather to do it or not? I'm a bit confused. How can I help you?
