  • how come they never play this and Walking Away live? :c

  • @Jewcymidget Not sure... can't find anything of them doing Walking Away live. The bass intro is really difficult and so is the trumpet solo/duet with trombone - maybe that's why?

  • I love both versions. This one is more fun to play on the guitar because it's unique and a bit easier. Still, the original is awesome and I love listening to it. Anyone else think this would make a good BOTAR song? A full sting quartet version of Canon in a ska song. Also it might be a partially practical thing that Pete just chills in the back. Some of the stuff he plays is really intricate, so it would probably be really easy for him to get distracted, but still...

  • i like this tempo better than the original, it's more laidback

  • freaking love the beat here... funky as hell!

  • The bassist is at the corner in the dark... why? he plays epicly. :D

  • @47zencreative

seen em twice and thats how it was then as well. dont know why tho. maybe stage fright or something?

  • @47zencreative Because (sadly) Pete McCullough doesn't get much attention in the band. He plays the least noticeable instrument, he's always off to the side, and he never really talks much. The only time I heard many people mention him was during the Ship of Fools: Odds and Ends when he was (temporarily) by Pierre St. Paul.

  • @ownagepie24 When I went to see them back in July, Tomas mentioned Pete about 3 times while they were doing their set.

  • I like the fast version better

  • @erasetoimprove They both have their merits, I love this one you can really feel the beat and makes me bob along to it, The faster version makes me break into a run whenever i hear it, and i can't skip it once i start, cause it's got me in it's spell.

  • what the fuk are you talking about im sayin its fucken awesome that they did it

  • streetlight's one of the few bands i can honestly say they sound waayyy better live

  • wow playing canon in D thats awesome never done before this band is so mutha fucken awesome

  • @leou11

List a band that hasn't done that.

It's about the execution, an original chord sequence is impossible nowadays.

  • what is josh ansley playig upright in the back?

  • @yoyokng11 dude thats Pete McCullough. josh ansley left a long time ago

  • @tito720 lol sorry u know what he's playing?

  • @yoyokng11 yeah he plays an electric upright bass and half way into the song he switches to an electric bass

  • @tito720 thx bro

  • Mike Brown has the most kickass dances.

  • DUDE! youre sooooo lucky!

this is one of my favorite songs from my favorite band of all time!

i got their autographs at warped tour!! :]

    <3

  • not that anyone is paying attention but...STAND UP BASS WIN!

  • this is amazing

  • shame the sound cuts out at the start

  • @mechanova Camera isn't afan of multitasking, zoom and doom.

  • "Punch yourself in the head please sir, thank you."

  • @drunkmonkey1357 Austin???

  • I like this version a lot better than the original

I know it wouldn't happen but if they were to record this version that would be perfect

  • im surprised the bass player is able to see anything.

  • I love this version so much more than the CD one, it just feels better

  • I get to see them (again) THIS SUNDAY! :D

  • Catch22 is nothing without Kalnoky... i mean when they play stuff off keasbey nights it sounds like garbage. streetlight, the legit shit! :D AND I'M COUNTING DOWN TO JULY 15!!!!!

  • @goodtimesontoob I disagree, i mean yeah i prefer Streetlight, but i saw catch at rebellion festival and they were fucking awesome.

  • @therur oh.... well streetlight's keasbey stuff sounds better live than catch's keasbey stuff played live

  • My bro got to go today :( bullcrap

  • @Akz023

hah and you only get to see them on you rcomputer screen... oof. i havent seen them in forever!

  • july 3rd i get to see them again(:

  • @drunkmonkey1357 saaamme!!!

  • im so happy im finally gonna go see them on july 12 at the key club yay!

  • @himynameisaby hahaha im gonna see them on july 13

  • @tito720 i had to work so i had to change the date so ima be there on the 13th aswell ahhh! cant wait!!

  • i like them better than catch 22 personally...

  • now, not many videos from the keasbey era...i like the reggae feeling they gave it.

  • catch 22 > streetlight manifesto

  • @Albee91 Kalnoky>Catch 22

  • @Albee91 AMEN!

  • What's with the swing?... I think i like it though

  • Streetlight is the undoubtedly the best

  • Man I wish they would make a live album...

  • man i love this version of the song

  • i love that they are underappreciated, i think it brings out the best in them.

  • Even on a compressed Youtube video with choppy audio, they still sound absolutely stunning.

  • Not to mention a live performance!

  • @rocketgem79 I LOVE bands that sound just as amazing live as they do on their recorded songs.

  • This is the only instance I've ever heard them play this song. I wish they'd play it more :(

  • watch the catch 22 live 2006 performance of this song worse shit ive ever heard I feel bad kalanoky has to see his x band claim his songs and slaughter them

  • One of the most underappreciated bands I've ever heard.

  • Agreed man. and the Greatest band. I love these guys there amazing. Especially Tomas.

  • The cursing is fine with them. They don't spam it and they actually use it... if not tastefully, effectively.

  • yeah id agree, but its just something thats gets to me, jsut me, still great music!

  • i like that they are kind of "underground"ish that way retarted scene kids wont ruin them for me.

  • Comment removed

  • i used to think they were "underground"ish then i got a facebook and realized all the scene kids i hate joined streetlight manifesto groups

i still like their music though so whatever

  • Youve been to a show I assume. Their far from underappreciated

  • @ascheier seriously! it's sad that they don't have the same publicity or popularity as the crappy rappers out there

  • @jstova1 as much as this sounds like some douchy pretentious hipster comment, i almost dont want them to have that much publicity. i just want to keep them all to myself, and with all you other streetlight lovers of course!

  • if someone can tell me what snare chris uses i will love u forever

  • What guitar is he using?

  • Gibson ES-335, as for the acoustic, i think it's an Gibson or Alvarez? I'm just guessing on that

  • @hatchback34 haha thanks

  • @hatchback34

gibson, he used to use the Ibanez as73 artcore series

  • His voice is so original. I love this band. haha

  • No i think he sounds like a guy from this older band called Catch 22, I THINK haha

  • @Mendez8006 He was the one of the singers/writers in that band lol The reason they died off is because he left.

  • @cubezero01 I know... sorry, sarcasm just doesn't pass through this text haha

  • I've seen them a number of times, and I don't think I've ever heard them play this song.

    Nice video.

  • OMG!!! Is it just me or is that trombone playing chords at 1:54. Amazing tone quality for that!

  • the barry sax tenor sax and trumpet are playing cords with the trombone

  • oooo funky version! sweeeeet!!!

  • i see no skanking WTF>?!

  • cant really skank to this song.......

at least it wouldn't be that fun, the faster music is more fun to skank to

  • I dunno, Reel Big Fish plays the best skanking music and they are mostly lower tempo.

  • thats opinionated.

  • This is an extra ska version of the song

  • this song makes me so happy

  • love this version!!!!!!!!!

  • dude jim almost crashes into mike brown at 3:06. lol

  • Cool! 5/5

  • tom's arm is better now. he was out of the sling in portland, oregon today.

  • Do you want to see Chris Thatcher From Streetlight up Close? Come take a look at my pag and spread the word!!! Streetlight Rules!!!

  • The guitarist filling in for Thomas is Sean P. Rogan from Big D and the Kids Table

  • Just saw them again at Warped Tour yesterday in MD. I noticed that Tomas broke his arm, they have another guy on guitar. Great set though, wish they gave them more time.

  • i like the pachelbels canon reference in the horns. whoever writes the horn parts must have had a heavy classical music background because they also reference a classical piece in If and When We Rise Again.

  • im pretty sure all if not most of the horn players majored in music in college so thatd give them a pretty strong classical background

  • Comment removed

  • Just pointing it out, the guitar chords for this song are

    C G Am E F C Dm G

    while Cannon in D is

    C G Am E F C F G

The minor difference makes a huge difference

  • um, canon in D would be in the key of D not C, but nice try

  • It was for simplicity. I'm not a dumbshit, but if I said Canon in C, most people wouldn't recognize it(you'd be surprised). Plus by putting it in C, one can compare the chord changes, specifically the difference between F and Dm.

  • understood.

  • i think he means the same chord progression... which is true

  • It wasn't just the horns...it extends to the vocal and guitar. The canon was pretty much the theme used for the whole song. Pretty brilliant use.

  • It's Tomas. He writes everything and the horns, bass, and drums wiggle around the writing and find the perfect fit. That's also a problem because Tomas is a perfectionist and all that perfection takes time; that's why 99SoR isn't out yet.

  • catchin streetlight for the first time on the 21st at the warped tour in MA! whoever is going report in!

  • Heh, it's a lot catchy when it's swung.

  • yea he is an insane bassist in all there songs.

  • Best band ever.

    Saw them in Cleveland twice.

Warped tour 9 days cant wait.

  • seen em in glasgow ...and it was the best gig ever . right at the front . was well worth the sore ribs

  • Awesome! Too bad they didn't think of this before they rereleased Keasbey Nights.

  • I gotta say, I like this lowered tempo. It fits very well.

  • it could honestly be to just help keep timing. when you're jammin the best way to keep time is to work of the drummer or the bassist, and with how frequently the drummer does insane fills, I would assume keeping them close helps the entire band with timing. thats my guess why he always stays back.

  • most ska bands keep the bassist in the back. mostly i think its to keep time cuz with the guitar always playing upbeats its important for the drums and bass to keep good time. also it may be because between the guitar(s) and horns there are already enough people up front.

  • does anyone know why the bassist is always standing in the back with the drummer??? i have seen these guys twice and he was never up front. he is just as big a part of the band as the rest yet he is always the least visible. why???

  • Maybe he's shy.

  • Comment removed

  • haha thats halarious. i was going to comment this video and ask the same thing. how weird. just cause i was watching it and i had the idea to ask. thats a massive fluke that you just happened to have asked it too. ive seen them live and he just stood at the back. hes a great bassist so he has no reason to be shy.

  • it'0s true, i saw them a couple of months ago in madrid and i was like, WTF what is doing this amazing bassiust back there! but hearing is enough for me, he is so good. long live STREETLIGHT long live Mike Brown

    Jim Conti

    Tomas Kalnoky

    Pete McCullough

    Mike Soprano

    Matt Stewart

    Chris Thatcher

  • the bassist is in the back so he can be in time with the drum set

  • He's just a more traditional type of player in terms of showmanship. Chris Patzik was a bit like that too. Other bands have bassists that prefer to chill in the back too like Reel Big Fish, Libertines, etc. Josh Ansley was the total opposite! His stage presence and backing vocals is >>> than anything Streetlight has had in his place since he left (though the actual talent has increased).

  • this kicks more ass than i could have ever conceived as being possible.

  • what does he do with his guitar at 1:50 ?

  • Comment removed

  • switches guitars

  • he had to switch to his electric so he could play the distorted part at the end.

  • Holy crap that's the coolest version of that song I've ever heard.

  • Thank god for streetlight considering catch 22 is a joke nowadays

  • One of the sickest songs of the sickest show ive ever been to, soo tight

btw does anyone know the chords?

  • Damn, there's some serious production value in those big screens behind them. Good camera angles, even the people in the back can get a good view.

Too bad none of the crappy venues have that here in crappy Florida :(

  • it was just a projector

  • alot of places have em... what part of Florida is "here"

  • That's Orlando for ya. What I mean to say is, it's obvious there's multiple moving cameras on the band. Only the House of Blues at Disney has a screen, and there it's just a stationary camera from the sound booth. I'd be impressed if Streetlight got to headline there.

  • South Florida better buck-o

  • It's great how good they sound acoustic

  • wow! i just realized i was at this show! im in the front row to the right with a white bandana on :)

  • that's one of my favorite song the lyrics are so good!!!

  • even if u dnt like this music and hate it with a passion they are truely musical geniouses and masters

  • That.. Was.. SO COOL. Streetlight is so unique and creative, I can't get over how great this sounds.

  • 2:54 Mike Brown dances like a BAMF I love it when he does it during his solos too

  • "Streetlight Manifesto Live at the Metro (2/12)"...it's that video around 1:25 I believe.

  • lol pete is deffinately a serial killer

  • This was so amazing....when they started playing I went crazy. They played so much from Keasbey Nights this show!

  • the bass line in this song is epic as hell, streetlight is sooo good

  • I WAS THERE!!!

  • me too! amazing night! i got out of the show looking like i just came out of the shower

  • Comment removed

  • this may be my favorite streetlight video on youtube.

  • Awesome video! too bad you couldn't hear pete play the bass breakdown though...

  • plus he's so forgotten back there in the corner it sucks

  • i agree, pete is an awesome bass player he needs to be out there with the other guys more.

  • hands down. he is honestly one of the best and most underrated bass players out there.

  • He is so god damn good its ridiculous. Never hear enough about him

  • I was confused at first because it didnt sound like the song i knew. haha. then they sped it up and what not:P

  • I have seen streetlight 26 times, and they've NEVER played this song. It's one of my favorites. So jealous.

  • you sir, are a god.

  • Roger that

  • I wish i were you.

    SO much.

  • this night was awesome, by far the best night of my life ever...i cant wait till they come back to L.A... and the aka's kicked ass too!!!

  • best streetlight song. and will be forever.

  • thanks for the great quality video. sıɥʇ ǝʞıl ǝdʎʇ oʇ ʍoɥ noʎ llǝʇ llı ǝɯ oʇ ǝʌıɹɔsqns noʎ ɟı

  • This was the best night of my life. I cried twice hahaha

  • Why?

  • In this song, i was hella happy, then it got to the pachobels breakdown and it was like all beautiful. Then me and my ex (we're best friends still) were there, and big sleep was our song, and we both cried during that lol

  • Man watching these videos now i'm like mannnnnn

I missed a bad ass show

  • i was there too right in front of mike and jim i see me! i LOVE THEMMMM

  • thanks so much for posting this

    ..the concert was amazing.

are you gonna upload any more videos from that night?

I'd love to see Kalnoky's acoustic set again

  • wow.....I hope they release the stuff that was filmed properly!! A dvd would be amazing!!!

  • I was here too :)

In between Tomas and Mike, This was definatley the highlight of the night along with the encore, which was a whole lot of awesome.

  • hai me too! front row FTW.

  • lawlz... i was leik there... this song is sick in this version.

  • dude i was there it was awesome especially when i went crowd surfing

  • This was probably one of the greatest concerts I have been to, you can't beat a small venue with an amazing band and being nearly front row. Unfortunately I left my camera in my car... but at least someone recorded the show. Thanks for posting this.
