I think it's wonderful. It almost looks ugly and pointless, but the natural gigantic phenomena of waterfall pulls it back and kind of belittles the human construction of thought (and scaffolding) behind it. I wonder what children make of it? I think it takes some suspension of logic, it is art not science after all.
When there are no more natural waterfalls left, and/or they are all "privately owned", we can always get this dude to make a faux-waterfall for all us poor slobs.
The Brooklyn Bridge Waterfall really somehow improves The Brooklyn Bridge,
Whenever I'm up in New York I always love walking across The Brooklyn Bridge to get an idea of it's scale and it's history as a suspension bridge. Adding a waterfall under it seems pointless IMHO, How about we do some other things like get NYC out of this recession it's in and finish work
at Ground Zero before we get into scenic waterworks?
I undestand it's an art installation and it will bring in more tourists but as the as the commentary indicates -it's not that effective. It is kind of bush-ass. Thank goo its only temporary? Or maybe that makes it even more of waste of "private" money.
nice commentary on how to change and/or improve the waterfalls...provoking thought and communication, exchanging ideas...I'm also thinking about the $15 million "wasted" on the project in terms of the construction workers (and families) income, support services from restaurants and transit, virtually all the things that make the city work. This is a testament to art at work. Oh, and yes, falling water is soothing and pretty; where's the desktop water fountain somebody gave you 2 christmases ago?
15 million dollars for some "fake" waterfalls, and yet we have failing education systems, people on welfare, families below the poverty limit, drug problems, homeless problems, POLLUTION AND ENERGY problems, economy problems, problem problems, but yeah, let's build some fucking gay ass waterfalls to remind people of how surreal this all really is. Maybe people will think their 9-5 life is going to get better now since they're giving out 15 million to make water spill off a chunky scaffolding.
thanks for posting, yes it is a lame ass art project! all it does is create more traffic jam in NYC. i hope they take them down real soon. we don't need more traffic mess.

I thought they were OK. I didn't care much for the ugly scaffolding. I like the idea of a huge fake man made waterfall in the middle of a city.

They're only lame during the day, at night they become magical.
